I had a pelican 10e when I was in the navy and had the best fishing memories in it with all my buddies. The mini pontoons are more stable than my 14 aluminum boat. They’re perfect for lakes. But you’re definitely right about the speed. I put a 4hp on mine and realized quickly the trolling motor is far more convenient.
2 years ago i drove to the USA to buy the pelican bass raider nxt at that time it was 30$ more than the prowler so I grabbed it from cabelas or bass pro can’t remember for 699$ Absolutely love it whatever you buy it’ll be amazing just get a 10 footer at least
I bought a Pelican Bass Raider 10e for pond fishing with my buddy. The first thing I noticed was how much more stable it is than my jon boat. Can actually stand to fish if you want. Not an option in my aluminum jon boat. I think mine was $699 during a winter sale at Dick's Sporting Goods. If you're ready to step up from bank fishing, these affordable plastic pontoon-style boats are awesome!
Got a bass hound with 2 motors and a bunch of gear for $400 on marketplace. Registration paid and everything. 2012 Sam’s club exclusive. Made by sun dolphin. Has a live well, lights, plenty of space and some quirky design notes lol
I converted a pedal powered paddle boat which is a pontoon style. Removed the paddle etc, put a 55lb thrust troller on it with linkage to a long control rod so I can easily drive it from the front position. 900 lb capacity!
In regards to the 40Lb thrust trolling motor rating of the pond prowler 10, I interpreted that as to mean the capacity of the front transom. I figure since trolling motors are commonly mounted on the front for normal boats, and that a 3.5hp gas motor would put way more stress on the rear transom than a 40Lb thrust trolling motor ever could.
I have the Bass Hunter Bass Baby it’s an 8ft with 2 seats and it has wheels built into the back so you can wheel it to the water, also I’m almost positive Bass Hunter is the only manufacturer that the boat is all one piece so it’s not joined together around the boat. But I love mine and use it all the time most of the time it’s just myself but sometimes my cousin fishes with me with no problem and we are big boys!
I got a Pelican Rhino 10 for a Mossberg 500 ATP I didn't really want. Not sure why they stopped making them, the bait tank with aerator and removable battery box pods are cool.
I went to bps today and the prowler felt way to flimsy. A catfish would rip a rod holders clean off. The pelican bass raider had that hard sturdy plastic feel. I was set on a prowler but now bassraider.
You should check out a bass hunter granted the price difference. It is certainly there, but when it comes to practicality and ease of like transporting hands down, there’s no comparison I think it totals out at 65 pounds and that for the 10 foot build 10 wheels that’s the part that really kicks ass.
I'd like to see a comparison between these boats and a kayak. I've had two kayaks but have since sold them. Looking at a kayak to motorize or possibly a pontoon boat to motorize.
You might look into the Jon boat versions on these boats. They are 2ft longer and would be more room but less stability. But I’ve seen 3 people on the pontoon 10 footers before!
@@GreysonRoberts if you have one maybe you could do one showing how many people you can in one .. like how many before it sinks!!! LOL that would be fun and informational
Have a choice between the Bass Pro Shops Prowler 12' Jon Boat or Sun Dolphin Jon Boat 12' Camo? My opinion is the Prowler seems to be ready made for accessories. Opinions welcome.
In theory, the 1 man prowler. I can get to about 0.8 feet without trimming up the trolling motor with 2 people in my 10’. I would think the difference is pretty negligible between all these boats.
If I am remembering correctly that’s the 1 piece hull design and I’ve heard nothing but great things about it! I didn’t include it in this video due to the price difference
My neighbor got one, not sure what brand, but I think he got it at tractor supply. It's way more stable than my jon boat. If I can find one used I'll get rid of aluminum boat.
Yes, it has been done on the pontoons with a smallest child sitting on a cooler. However I just picked up the sundolphin American 12 Jon boat and it has way more room. Although less stable, that might be more comfortable.
You cant get these things for $300 bucks used in my area...and they are gone QUICK. The market for these plastic boats is unbelievably high, probably because everyone wants $3k plus for a row boat now
Being in the right place at the right time that helps I got a 12 foot sun dolphin from tractor supply for 509 since I have a 10 foot kayak with a motor mount Minnkota I was able to put the mini Kota on front end of the dolphin with two swivel boat seats, a binmi top the only thing left was picking up a two-stroke six horse mercury for 250 used of course I had to work on it done a number of things even rebuilt the carburetor and all this for 1500 yes it can be done and it all fits in the back of a Silverado no trailer needed. Something that small, but you can be proud of it
You've obviously never heard of the Bass Hunter Bass Baby boat!!!! Never buy these 2 piece molded plastic boats..... they're literally stapled together and leak very easily. The Bass Baby is a single mold boat with way thicker polyurethane plastic........and it comes with wheels on the back! Go check it out
You’re right! I’d like to get my hands on one before recommending it, though. But I considered adding it. There’s other alternatives models that look great too with storage and live wells. Been trying to find one for the channel. Thanks for the tip!
@billshepard6664 Yeah I have a almost new baby bass. Love it but picked it up a few years ago and didn't worry about paperwork. Recently I got a ticket for no stickers and pretty much no way to get the boat title. I called the NC wildlife and they pretty much said throw it away and buy another one. None in stock but anyway yeah I love mine but looks like I'm going to have to try another one. Thing is the reviews I seen for bass pros alot say same issue. Problems getting paperwork even buying new. I'm stumped at this point.

I bought a Basstender 10.2 off of Facebook Marketplace for $100! Had a out a few times and no problems.

Enjoying your insight on this boat realm! Excellent content
Much appreciated!
I just ordered a 10ft sun dolphin boat from tractor supply hopefully it was worth the $$$!! Can’t wait to use it🎣🎣
I love my SeaEagle Foldcat 375, Fittid to the gills and is super easy to launch and store.
I’m going to look that up!
Pricey and not ideal for fishing.
@@Hazel66781 I fish fulltime in mine. look at the video of my boat it is more than ideal..

Yup makes sense, thanks
Sun dolphin sportsman 8. Is what im working with!!!
Hell yeah!
I also have a Sun Dolphin but the sportsman 10! I love it!!
Just for transparency, thats the bass raider NXT, not the basic 10e. There over charging you for the seats on that model.

Thank you so much for this video can you please do a video or review on the bass hunter as this is also a major competitor in this space

Definitely not 65lbs as it's honestly a tad bit heavier than these other knock offs but it's seamless.
I wanted a Bass Hunter, they won't ship them. Found a guy in Miss. that was reasonable but I live in Georgia. Not driving 8 hours for a pond boat.
I'd like to see a comparison between these boats and a kayak. I've had two kayaks but have since sold them. Looking at a kayak to motorize or possibly a pontoon boat to motorize.
Looking to buy the prowler 12 Jon boat for me and my sons to go fishing in …
Great choice, I think you’ll be very happy with it
im wondering me my wife and son only weigh 600lb can i use one of these plastic boats in a small lake with a 30lb trolling motor

Academy has the Pelican Bass Raider 10E for a good penny cheaper than bass pro. They have them for $830.
Great tip

Have you tried the pelican boats.
Whish one doe you think would be best for fishing rivers with shallow shoals?

Just bought a Pelican 10E Bass Raider from Academy for 829.00.
I bought a 9and half foot . Me and my brother ride in it. No issues hes 230 im 180. But i normally go out be myself.
What’s your opinion on the large 10 foot bass hunter?
If I am remembering correctly that’s the 1 piece hull design and I’ve heard nothing but great things about it! I didn’t include it in this video due to the price difference
Thank you for that info. Yes, the best hunter is a little over priced compared to the rest I was just curious.
@@GreysonRoberts in that case you missed out on the BEST mini pond boat. Bass Hunter is MUCH better

@@GreysonRoberts thank you. Now I guess I need to weigh whether i want more stability or comfort
The bass raider is only $750 at Academy which makes it $50 less than the Pond Prowler. It is rated to 3.5 hp.
The pond prowler was only $700 couple weeks ago. The plastic pontoon market is very volatile 🤣
@@GreysonRoberts actually that was the club members price, it was still $800 for us regular schlubs. 😉
Did they discontinue the raiders ? I can’t find any anywhere
I know Academy is selling them right now
We can't even get them over here in NZ
What do you think about the Twin Troller x10?
Look awesome! I could get a cheap skiff for their prices though 🤣
@@GreysonRobertsBut the convenience of the propulsion system with the pedals really is a gamechanger.
