    Nicely done. Please add in the description speakers names and trivia as time permits.
    So far, this is the most valuable video I've seen in past few months.
    Love the consistent (not rambling) questions to the shooters. Thank you.

    Since you are using the tip of your arrow as a sight pin and changing the drawing hand in relation to the bow tiller why not just put sight pins on the bow and keep the draw hand the same?

    There is a reason the Army developed checklists for pilots at the outset of WWII. Sure, being a good flier FEELS "instinctual" but that instinct is BUILT Pre-mission jitters can kill you on take-off. They actually had a "5 minute sit" requirement for fighter pilots. When they climbed in the cockpit, they were required to sit there for 5 minutes not talking, just breathing and creating mission focus. Out of that rule the Air FOrce eventually created the OODA Loop. Observe-Orient-Decide-Act

    When shooting at unknown distances...They aren't "unknown". They are un-studied. Your bow has all kinds of visible points that you can use, considering trigonometry, to accurately measure distance within one foot. The phrase "rule of thumb" was born of the logging industry. Timber cruisers, marking trees for cutting or estimating total board footage in a stand of trees could consistently estimate the height of a tree by stepping off a KNOWN distance from a tree and using the various distances between wrinkles in the thumb skin to estimate height. There is no reason for not KNOWING the distance of your shot within one foot

I really wanna get me an ILF longbow this year in a lower poundage and rebuild my shot from the ground up! Thank you so much for the input and putting the time in! Hope to be able to welcome you over on my channel! Would love any suggestion for an affordable, short ILF riser setup with long bow limbs! cheers from Austria/Japan

    Mark Lynde when executing his shot he draws back, focuses on tip of the arrow, with both eyes, then closes one eye, to sight down the shaft, this contradicts what I've heard from most everyone, to keep both eyes open ?????? Any feedback on this ?

    Competitive archery seems a lot like competitive golf. If you worry about the other guy...you lose. It's you, the ball and the cup or you, your bow and the target. Many high perfroming golfers don't feel any stress. One shot is like any other whether on the range or in a tournament. It's about focus on form and INTENT for the shot. Most people really don't spend enough time thinking about what they INTEND to do. Even good bow hunters I know spend zero time with "visualization" . I teach skiing. I tel my students that for every turn they make in the snow, they need to make 100 in their mind....besides. Mind-turns are FREE

    Anybody know what the difference between a physical and mental shot sequence is?
    I’m referring to what Bobby Worthinton is talking about.
    I would think that when he say physical shot sequence he means the physical things you do in the shot, and how/ when you think about them, but what is the mental shot sequence then?

    Question for any expert: I'm shooting 510 grain arrows out of a 35# recurve with a 30 inch draw. Shooting three fingers directly under the nock, my "point on" distance is only 20 yards. 1) is my setup going to have enough momentum for hunting whitetails at 20 yards and under with a 2 blade cut on contact? 2) should I be concerned that my point on distance is so close?

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josh B you should be good with that set up. Put it where it needs to go and you'll be fine. You point on seems really useful for whitetail!

    • @seakadventurer1330

      At 30" I imagine your stacking a few extra pounds on the draw weight and getting close to 40# which is the minimum here in ak for deer/wolves/sheep. Should be fine. Good weight to hone technique and form with. I like a heavier weight for hunting, but that's just me.

    Aiming is a mental and physical process. When you consider the actual process of drawing and firing an arrow and how we KNOW the human body works. There really is no such thing as "instinctive" shooting. Every "instinctive" shooter I ever met was either 1) Kidding themselves 2) kidding me.
    In the military back in my day we were taught to focus on the spot we wanted to hit and blur the crosshairs. It worked for me so well that I eventually became entirely unaware for the scope..That does NOT mean I wasn't aiming, I simply became so accustomed to one part of the process it no longer registered with my conscious mind. Kind of like taking out the trash...the fact your wife told you to do it just doesn't soak in...lol

  • @HobbitHomes263
    @HobbitHomes263 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Make some makers on the belly side of your bow. If the targets are 24 inches tall, your marks may be on inch apart. The beauty of "aiming" is that you reduce the shot to a function of systemics. Math RULES!

      Thanks for making this film. It s really appreciated. As a film maker myself I understand its a long process with a lot of work involved. Lots of great insights from top trad/barebow archers here. Its illegal to hunt here in the UK with a bow but 3d shooting is fun and different to shooting 20yds indoor. Thanks for yoyr efforts. Hope to see some more Push vids.

    • @oudski
      @oudski 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      iVenom I do believe you mean “crawling”. That’s string crawl. It’s a technique used by some trad shooters to compensate for different distances by “crawling” their draw hand down the string. There are some good videos on TH-cam that explain it better than I.

    My dad told me when I was 12 that if i practiced starting then, I would be able to kill a deer with a recurve bow when i was 18. I didn't think so, and the first time I shot a recurve at 20 yards, I had a great group, and they have just improved since, and now i am 14.

    You have bow skills. I have 40 years of experience in marketing and merchandising. I watch the original "The Push" good information but the "up-talking" was distracting. I think you do that because you are talking to a camera. I don't hear you up-talking" when you are just hanging out with these archers. Your banter in this film sounds like the authentic you. The uptalking in the heavily produced films makes you sound unsure. When everything you say sounds like a question, it sounds like lack of confidence. If your audience perceives a lack of confidence within YOU, how can THEY have confidence in you? Good stuff, man...but just talk to us like it's the campfire and not some live-or-die TH-cam production. Study guys like CLay Hayes. Great info delivered by plain talk..Thanks for what you do!
