    That 50m uphill shot, with a barebow no less, looks brutal. I shot something similar during a 3D shoot, albeit with a compound bow and hinge release, at 45 yards (unknown distance…I paced it off while retrieving my arrow). The angle was about half as much as this shot, and it was beyond difficult. 2 of the guys in my group blanked the target, the other shot an 8, and I was happy to find foam.
    Mad respect for barebow archers.

    The Italian got to shoot the course beforehand - I'm surprised that's not considered cheating as it's an unfair advantage.

    I love watching these shoots. Makes me feel good about my own instinct shooting at up to 40 yards. I have 13 various bows.

    It looks like most of these shooters are string walkers. I never got good string walking, so I am still instinctive.

      String walking works . Once you figure your distance and where your fingers go. Ya got to count serving lines. But once you get it , it works pretty good. For me anyhow.

    I thought string walking was illegal

    • @geebee3d
      @geebee3d 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not in barebow. In the traditional classes (wooden, single piece bows) string walking is illegal. But in Barebow, not only is it legal, it’s universally accepted and used. Literally every BB shooter utilizes some sort of string walking.
      I just started playing with it, and it’s amazing.
      It takes a bit of experimentation to find the right crawl (distance between the fingers and arrow nock), but once you get your crawls dialed in, it’s anchor, set the arrow point on target, pull through and send it.
      And if you think “I am a hunter, I would never use that technique,” I’ll suggest this:
      Think about the average distance at which you shoot game animals. Say 17 yards. Try crawling down your string until you find your 17 yard crawl. Once you’ve got that crawl dialed in, use some serving to tie in a small string nock to be used a reference. Now when you are out in the field and you have a shot at game, hit that crawl, draw, anchor, aim center of mass, and release. As long as you make a good shot, you’ve got a kill shot anywhere from 12-23 yards. If you are closer than 17, you will hit high, but only by a few inches. If you are beyond 17 yards, you will hit low, but only by a few inches.
      It’s called hunting with a fixed crawl, and it’s worth a try, especially if you are shooting/hunting instinctive style, and not shooting as accurately as you would like.
