- You might think this is a joke, a rickroll, or something I edited, but I am dead serious. This is the full extended theme music for the PBS NewsHour from 1999 to 2006.
I got it from the closing credits for their 25th Anniversary in 2000, which the full episode for it is below:

The most majestic of all television news themes that ever aired.
This was my childhood whenever Arthur or Bill Nye ends and PBS switches to this show, that’s when I knew things were gonna be serious

Listening to this one last time in memory of Robert "Robin" MacNeil...
I was overseas in 1990, Warsaw, Poland. I had lunch with friends at the Eagle Club at the American Embassy, as soon as I walked in, the bar was broadcast the News Hours. I heard this familiar tune, and it made me homesick.
I lived in Europe in the mid-1980's and whenever I returned to the US for a visit, I would make time to watch the MacNeil/Lehrer Report.
This theme of what was then called "The Newshour with Jim Lehrer", was replaced on May 17, 2006, with a new theme based off of this theme, but it should be immortalized as the ultimate "PBS Newshour" theme song for the most erudite of all American television news broadcasts.

Between the PBS Newshour, Thundercats, and Silverhawks, Bernard Hoffer's music truly was my childhood lol
There could be a dance done to this elegant, majestic theme by Bernard Hoffer and I would call it the "PBS Newsdance", with a lot of different partner dances included. It has that feel. That could get exercise for those who would participate. If PBS ever gets a dance show or there be a nationally syndicated dance show, this could be a good theme, since it is no longer used as a news theme, this version, anyway.

Whenever I hear this theme music, I think of the excellent journalism of the NewsHour and its predecessor, The MacNeil-Lehrer Report. I came away from each program better informed and better equipped to understand the events of the day. The PBS NewsHour is good, but a little too feature-oriented. It is however still head and shoulders above the networks and towers over Fox News.
Whenever I hear this theme song, I always think about Star Wars. Perhaps, it's because the theme sounds like it was composed by John Williams.
