    Chimu as a people are a huge mystery in Peru. Interestingly enough, their name translates to "People from Mu", Mu referring to the "Mother" or "Motherland". Beautiful cinematography thank you for educating the world about the many mysteries of Peru 🙏

    From the morning of Wednesday 15 until Monday 20 March, the normal supply of drinking water was suspended in almost the entire capital, because the turbidity of the river and the excess of waste, dead animals and debris that the Rímac dragged did not allow to capture water and treat them.Mar 20, 2017

    El Niño is a cyclical phenomenon intrinsic to the climate dynamics of the planet. It develops in the equatorial Pacific and affects the Peruvian coast, but its repercussions can be global. This phenomenon is associated with the annual cycle of the winds that blow along the coast of Peru and Chile, from south to north; and they keep the surface of the sea cool. Every summer, those winds weaken, allowing the sea off Peru to warm and warm waters to enter from Ecuador and even from Indonesia. The increased evaporation over the sea and the calm combine to produce a little rain in the desert.
    Every three to eight years, with a predictable but unpredictable recurrence, the cycle intensifies, and then there is a Niño with heavy rains that sometimes turn into deluges. In recent history, we have had extreme events, or Meganiños, in 1877, 1891, 1925, 1983 and 1998. The phenomenon is not connected in any obvious way to climate change, but it will probably continue to occur in conjunction with global warming, which would make more intense and frequent extreme weather events.

    They really need to do terra remediation upland to lessen the impacts of the heavy rains. It would offset dry times and build resiliency.

    • @noneofyourbeeswax01
      @noneofyourbeeswax01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed. The trick is to make the terrain capable of retaining the sudden downpours and floods for long enough for it to be taken up and absorbed through tree roots, plants and underground aquifers. It's not even necessary to trap water, just slow the rate of flow sufficiently for the land to absorb it.

    So basically Climate change made fish go back to south and change their direction?

    • @gabbyn978
      @gabbyn978 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fish simply vanished. The warm waters of El Niño would divert the waters of the Humboldt Stream to the west and away from the coast, leaving the fishermen with nothing. They knew that the copious amount of fish was linked to a cold stream coming from the south, and that the El Niño phenomenon came from the north, so they assumed the fish were brought with these currents. Which is not completely wrong. But the fish did not swim all they way up from the Antarctic, they just thrived in the plankton and oxygen rich waters.
