    One of the best nuggets of advice I ever hears was from Mike Mentzer saying these insanely high volume workouts only really work if you're on PED's

      Actually, Arthur Jones, whose concepts Mike took off from, said that upper and lower body are made for different tasks, being lower's task endurance.
      High volume workouts for lower body are better and sow bigger gains, but surely, only PED's can go beyond certain loads of workout and keep the gains consistently

    Awesome video! Reminds me of your OG ones from years ago. One thing that would make it better is if the camera person would focus on an overall zoomed-out shot during your reps. Zooming in and focusing on your upper body, along with moving the camera up and down with each rep not only is dizzy-making, but doesn’t let us see the entire movement so we can’t learn the proper form, which is one thing we watch for. Thank you for all you do for us!

    I really like that theres no ego when you train. You perform the squats with 1 plate and the hack squats without anny additional weights. And you know what? Thats absolutely fine! It gets the job done and it will make you grow. Sometimes it feels like today everythings about what weight you use. Its all ego

  • @Kommunist_Kittens
    @Kommunist_Kittens 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I'd say what you're doing on the hack squat is a beginner Tom Platz sissy squat, you've gotta bridge your hips up, brace with your abs to keep your spine straight, and go as far knees over toes as you can, also gotta have the duckbill feet, heels touching and toes as wide as possible,

  • @kiztent
    @kiztent ปีที่แล้ว

    The hack squat variation you did is how George Hackenschmidt (who hack squats were named after) did squats. Dumbbell held behind the back, feet together, toes out, raise the heels as you come down.

    Major props to you for doing this one Brandon, took MASSIVE huevos to even attempt this.
    Question regarding sequence though:
    Would it be better to alternate between quad exercises and the others? Ex, instead of going 1 Squat, 2 Hack Squat, 3 Leg Extension, 4 Lying Leg curl, 5 calf raise, would it be better to go Squat- Leg Curl- Hack Squat- Calf Raise- Leg extension? That way you give your quads a chance to rest, while you torch something else. Or would that take away from the pump?

    In college I had something close to this during powerlifting season.
    I would do six ascending sets of squat + 4 heavy work sets on the same.
    Then I would do five sets each of leg curl, leg extension, hip abduction, and donkey calf raises. Then I would do five sets of hex bar deadlift.
    Add to cap that off, 10 sets of hamstring stretches and calf raise normal sets.
    Sometimes I would hit 40 sets total in about an hour and a half.
    It's also why other lifters called me crazy. The squat workouts were so intense that I had to stretch for 10 minutes before and after them, then go on a 2-mile slow jog afterwards to keep my legs from cramping up all night.

    He went in the gym at twilight and finished up and left the next day at twilight 😂. Leg day is probably the hardest least enjoyable group to work but without a doubt gives the most rewarding feeling of the bunch when you're done knowing you left half your life in there.

    Very impressive. The only thing off was the feet placement on the hack squat. In an interview Tom said he point his feet outwards like a duck.

    The hardest pill that anyone has to swallow be them a bodybuilder or not is that whatever works for you may not work for somebody else. Everybody wants to believe they have the magic pill for success in anything from bodybuilding to breakdancing. You can get 100 people to train exactly the same way and you’ll get many different results so you have to find what works for you.

      @@T-VegasWow. That's crazy. Why not split it up and train 4 times a month?

      @richardgosselin9548 I think it's just too intense. If you did it every week you wouldn't have enough time to recover fully.

      He didn’t do the full squat routine.
      125 pounds x 10 reps
      225 pounds x 20 reps
      325 pounds x 50 reps.
      Can’t blame him, how could anyone do that.
      I challenge anyone to do 125 pounds for 50 reps. Good luck.
      💪
