I live in eastern Oklahoma and have been to Picher. It was sad watching the once vibrant town die. People loved living there and many stayed for a long time even after it was made clear there was a danger. The Tar creek trust fund site is often reported in local news. Sadly those who profited from the mines were long gone before anyone knew of the harm they had done. The people in the town took one major hit after another. You can still drive through the town and see the chat piles. Large white hills 10 stories tall. There is so much I don't think it will ever be fully cleaned up. All you can do is shove it back into the earth but the amount of money and danger to the workers makes it an overwhelming task.
The current wildfires in Los Angeles is spawning hurricane force winds in some areas (upwards of 120kmph) and has already destroyed over 35 hectares. And it's ZERO percent contained as yet. This is going to be a major disaster of another type...
Man, all that sucked. I reacted the same as you when they mentioned the lead tailings being left behind. Makes me wonder if the EPA is still trying to clean that place up?
Just incredible what mother nature deals out. 😢
Wow! That tornado did double damage. Great video!
I've seen this video, and am subbed to June 1st. Love the channel
The name Picher sounds familiar but I didn't recall the details. Enjoyed the reaction.

I must admit, this title sounds like something from a cheesey 80's sci-fi movie!😊
