    HI, great video. Try it with the turner off and see the barrel flick then! cheers

    With recoil pushing the whole gun, how could other microscopic movement make any difference at all?

      The big recoil is after the bullet exits the barrel. The microscopic movements can have a big impact on POI 50 yards out, depending on the number of nodes in the barrel. Higher number of nodes have larger displacement.

    Very good my Friend

    It seems like all the movement happens after the bullet is out of the barrel.

      At least the big visible moments. There are lots of little muzzle movements that the accelerometers picked up that the camera cannot.

    Is that true barrel whiplash or maybe the whole rifle moving from the minute amount of recoil ?

      It does not appear to be what I would typically label as "Whip Lash", being quite familiar with the term. You can set your .22lr rifle on a set of sand bags and remotely pull the trigger and the entire rifle will move slightly as seen here. Which is what I believe we are seeing.

      Barrel vibration starts when the cartridge ignites. This video shows recoil bounce.

      You can see in the wider angle shots that show the barrel, stock and sled... the entire rig is moving.

      The whiplash is caused by recoil as soon as the bullet exits the barrel. However, there are a lot of vibration and standing waves in the barrel as soon as the powder ignites. This video is a prelude to more videos where I will attach many sensors to the barrel to capture what the camera cannot pick up....mainly tiny vibrations and standing waves. Little perturbation as little as a fraction of a mm (caused by vibration/standing waves) at the crown can deviate the bullet by as much as an inch at 50 yards.

      Interesting that a .22 shot from a MTR bore could vibrate that much to deviate a round 1" at 50 yards. Most shooting channels attribute the deviation to the ammo itself. And quite a few have shown almost no deviation without a tuner with a match grade bore at 50 yards. Did you mean 100 yards?
      Edit: Ok, after thinking about this maybe you are talking about a standard (tapered) bore? Not necessarily a MTR bore.

    Please ditch the music. Very annoying.

      I couldn't edit the audio. So, I created another video with additional commentary: th-cam.com/video/q-P6aCJ1OHY/w-d-xo.html

      I found your video extremely interesting but it was very hard to listen to what you were saying, cuz the music was so distracting & out front. Very cool video though.
      Nice work.

      @tommykawasaki9676 thanks for the feedback. Will dial down the music.

    Does the "blooptube" work well for the es/SD?

    • @TunerPlinker
      @TunerPlinker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not use my chronograph during the test. I live in Snoqualmie and we get a lot of rain in the winter. Hard to make chronograph data. Will have to make the measurement with and without it when weather permits.

    • @TunerPlinker
      @TunerPlinker  ปีที่แล้ว

      My intuition tells me that it will not affect ES or SD. From little I have read, it is supposed to help stabilize the bullet as it leaves the barrel. However adding the bloop tube complicates the tuning process. Whether it helps make group sizes smaller is yet to be determine. That’s why I am testing it now.

    Interesting never seen that on film from rimfire 👍

    Too much weight on the end of the barrel.

      Thanks for the input. I am in experimental mode. Trying to fine tune the barrel.

    This whole video is idiotic. Nothing to see here. Music makes it unwatchable.
