    You're what we call a board-level technician. Nothing wrong with that, but it would have been worth your time to bring that simple power supply to the component level. Something made that resistor get hot, you could do it.
    * Regardless, I came here to find out how you fished the main board out. I got so much more, because of your complete disassembly. Thanks man, kudos.

    The real solution is to replace two capacitors on that power supply on the power output side which go bad. I am currently dealing with this very issue and found a reddit thread of several people also with the same issue and one person finally realize it was just those two capacitors on it which is the same conclusion I came to when I noticed the bulging capacitors after a few hours of troubleshooting and pulling apart the volume pot to clean it and resoldering connections only for nothing to work. It's a lot easier and cheaper then just tossing the whole power supply and replacing it. I'm currently waiting for replacements I ordered which is a set of 5 so if I have this issue in the future I will have some spares on hand.

I bought a DB9 RS-232 cable female to 3.5mm male (since there's scarcity on the shop for male to male) then just bought another RS-232 male to male then will use a soundbar model LP-1807 (detachable L & R) with R bar as main then control as bluetooth and main control speaker. But I bought 2 sets at the same time, I paid $70.oo each at a computer show.
    one has gone (kaput).
    I have had them for a long time.
    Don't think I'm gonna try this as it would cost half what I paid for the full set.
    And time to put into it.

    Hey bud, great video! I happen to have the same speakers, and with the same exact problem. Even have an old laptop power supply I can use. Just a quick question to clarify, you skipped really fast on the wiring and connecting the wires from that laptop power supply to the DC wire that connects to the board of the speakers. Any chance you can explain a bit further how you did that exactly? Would be greatly appreciated.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey no problem man. Sorry It was too fast. Not sure if you have a multimeter. But make sure the laptop powersupply is around 15v to 19v. I cut out the end from the laptop charger. This is the side that would have gone into the computer. On the AC to DC supply on the speakers. The little circuit board I threw. There should be a red and back wire that plugs into the main amplifier board. I cut that wire and spliced the red (positive) to the positive of the laptop charger. And the negative(black) to the negative of the laptop supply. Use a multimeter to make sure which one is positive and negative because laptop chargers vary the voltages. I put some heat shrink also before I did the splice and added solder after to finish it off. Then I pushed it Through the hole that the original AC plug would have gone thru. Tied a knot so it doesn’t pull out and fill it with glue stick. The I plug in that to the amplifier board and you should be set.

      @JustBarran  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, definitely I think that’s a good idea, you could also get a Bluetooth module also. In terms of battery it would need to have a decent capacity depend on how long you wanted it to play for. The speaks are DC so you just need to flow the video , but where I change to rectifier /power supply you can substitute that out for a DC jack and feed the speaker of a 12-19v supply /battery and you should be good.

    Hi, should I use 15v 5A adapter or 19v 3.2A ? I appreciate your response, please help me choose don't say they're the same. lol thanks

      @JustBarran  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ether one will work, the 15v 5a is closer to the original powersupply so try and see if it works first and how it sounds. The only reason I used 19v was because it was what I had available. So if you have had to chose go with the 15V as it is more with in the original specification

      Are you using 15 v.??
      I think it will be safe.
      I replaced with 12 v but can't play at max volume
      IT play well around 70-80 % of total volume bass.
      Reply if 15v is working well.

    I tried to open mine, but both the control speaker with the buttons, and the subwoofer panel are glued inside. There's nothing wrong with it, except i want to see if I can turn the whole thing into a passive speaker system, since the *ONLY* 5.1 HDMI ARC decoder on the market has an internal amplifier. Yes, there is only one such product and it's discontinued. These are just remaining units. There are $2000 audio mixers that support HDMI ARC input, but that's a professional studio system with about 30 I/O ports of various kinds.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm good points it would be something I have to look deeper into myself and get back to you but at that price it that audio mixers are nt worth it

    • @coladict
      @coladict ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JustBarran Update: I managed to get the subwoofer open and adding the new direct input was easy as soldering two wires to the speaker, then on the input port, drilling a hole and gluing it there with hot glue.
      Also on found which two pins in the DB-9 go directly to that speaker. When looking at the RS-232 layout as reference, pin 6 is the signal + line and pin 7 is ground. Got a DB-9 connector wired to an RCA jack and it worked as expected. The whole system of course is unplugged from power. Don't want to know what will happen if I turn that on.

    Is it normal that we don’t get a a clear sound? I can’t really enjoy my music with this solution, I get a dirty sound I don’t know it it because of the power of others

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah, something else might be the issue. The sound on the one I deliever was clean. It could be noise from a bad power supply used, bad input connection or cable or bad sorce. I recommend try the input with another speaker and seeing if you hearing a similar sound. If not it could be one of the ampliers for damage from the original failure of the powersuppply

      Could be a number of things from a faulty cable to a bad power supply like in the video. Would be better to see if you can isolate the cause of the problem,
      Eg it cut of when you move the system, or when you try to play it too loud. It could also be a switch shorting out
