Oh thanks man! Actually you were one of the reasons I thought of making this video! Tank cycling is a little more different in dirted tanks.

Very well explained, water testing kits are very expensive. How else would
I know the nitrogen cycle is over for a dirted tank

iirc most fish stores will test your water for free if you bring a sample :)

Thanks a lot, this explains things a bit. I was wondering, what's wrong with my cycle. Then I added fish food, and the tank started smelling a bit, and I thought that would help it cycle, then I saw little wormies on the walls of the tank, and then it started to smell good again, but ammonia stays 0, and nitrites stay 0.25 and nothing moves, though all the plants and mosses grow well. I wonder if nitrites come from soil, because they were 0.25 from the beginning. I wonder if I should just wait for them to go down or do something. It's 4 weeks already :(

My dirted tank hasn’t cycled yet it’s been a couple weeks. Ammonia around 1 ppm and nitrates are high. It’s heavily planted but is there something I’m missing or forgetting to do

Waiting for my dirted tanks to cycle. it's day 3 and I already can see the Bacoba's growth. It's heavily planted with Bacopa Monnieri, Anacharis , Dwarf Sag, Rotala indica and Ludwigia Repens. I hope everything survive lol. Will test the water after few weeks. Can I add some snails and Amano shrimp while cycling or after with the fish?
wish me luck and thanks for the video.

Well I would not add shrimp... Also not all snails are hardy... Adding nerites or rabbit snails did not work out for me.. I guess the metals and maybe some nitrite fluctuations can kill them.
