Cleaning the Shrimp Tank Again
I moved and I had totally forgotten about this shrimp tank. After a while I decided to give it a facelift. To be honest, I did not expect to see any shrimp alive in here, however, to my surprise, there were a couple cherry shrimp in there. As you can see, the water has evaporated, and it is full of hair algae. Also, the temperature of the water was around 11 Celcius degrees, because I have forgotten the tank outside...
The whole project took around 2 hours. It took around 2 days for the water to settle.

The multiple betta tank is a dream, except for a few exceptions... I left for vacations around 10 days. I had the dilemma, paying a sitter or adding some shrimp to serve as food when bettas get hungry. I did not calculate the heatwave and the apartment was without air condition, as a result the tank's temperature raised over 30 (indoors temperature was 36 Celsius) … I came home and found many d...
Multiple Betta Tank - No dividers - 2 month update

Enjoy my 2 month update of my 35 Gallon multiple betta walstad setup. It is nearly summer and the water has been evaporating. I usually trim the plants every two weeks and I feed the fish adequately. Unfortunately, one of the males has developed finrot, however I can see that his tail is showing signs of regeneration. His fins were severely clumped but he is better now. There is no aggression, ...

Walstad Tanks are supposed to be no maintenance, and it is true until a point. I have completely ignored this tank for a while and I decided to tidy it up a bit. I know after the pruning everything still looks like a jungle but you cannot imagine the amount of plant matter I threw out. Hornwort and duckweed have taken over. I have reduced a lot the amount of L. sessiflora and I am trying to gro...
Multiple Betta (Males & Females) 35 GALLON Tank - 1 month update - keeping male bettas together
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Keeping multiple bettas is a hard thing, especially if you add more than one male in the same tank. Now, before you all go berserk, please not that I have alternatives if things turn ugly. I cannot stress that more! Q: Is it possible to keep many bettas together? A: Yes, people usually keep female bettas together, also known as betta sororities. Another common setup is keeping one male within t...

    What factors influence the biochemical constituents of the water? understand that dynamic expansion and contraction are essential processes in all biological systems thus what we think of as stability is actually an absence of essential variation as genuine stability it when the fluctuations in parameters reduce enough to no longer produce toxic extremes rather than no fluctuation occurring at all...this realisation suggests that each element of a micro biome can reach a stage of perpetual equilibrium as long as all elements exist at the correct ratio,,,!

    It’s all about balance. If you do a capped dirted tank, and you have say 75% plants from the start, you won’t have to add anything for the plants for probably a year and by that time the fish load or bioload will then sustain the plants by putting nutrients back into the soil.

    I once tried to do an experiment and gradually switched from weekly to biweekly water changes in my planted tank with a goldfish. The goldfish developed fungus within approximately a month, and then I spent around a year curing the goldfish of the fungus. It got entirely cured just recently. At one point it even had fungus on its eyes.

    Nice video. Yeah, all rich substrates even modern Aquasoils will put tons of nutrients into the water column for 1st 30 Days. Many aquascapers do 40% water changes daily forst week. Then 30% every 2-3 days 2nd week. 3rd week 25% every 4 days. After 30 days your then safe to reduce water changes to 15% per week or buweekly ir just to replace evaporated water. Other do a "Dark Start" first 30 days. They add substrate & hardscape, add water then let tank stay without any animals or light for 30 days, no plants either kf course. Let the ruch substrate leech whatever it will do. It will most likely self cycle with all that ammonia at first. After 30 days add plants, fish & lighting. Doing so reduces many fish diseases, stressors & deaths. Less plants die off & easier for them to also acclimate. I would suggest not to do 90 or 100% water changes, evenbeith cycled established media. This alone will result in a "mini-cycle". I've never heard of Algae killing a fish before, thats a new one. Yes, if you have many plqnt leaves dying that can decay and add ammonia to water column. Good Luck & keep your sleeves wet

    Just beautiful. You encourage me to do a video on Betta Harems. I was staying away from it before since so many people in the hobby are against them or don't understand how to pull it off. It can be done and your video clearly shows how to make it work. I love how you incorporated some dither fish with the tetras and the cories. Heavily planted tank and longer tank. You covered all the bases. Well done!

I can’t wait to put them in my tank, and I will be putting a male in there as well but I will wait a few days. I do like the fact that in one of your videos you had two males in there. Thanks a lot, this explains things a bit. I was wondering, what's wrong with my cycle. Then I added fish food, and the tank started smelling a bit, and I thought that would help it cycle, then I saw little wormies on the walls of the tank, and then it started to smell good again, but ammonia stays 0, and nitrites stay 0.25 and nothing moves, though all the plants and mosses grow well. I wonder if nitrites come from soil, because they were 0.25 from the beginning. I wonder if I should just wait for them to go down or do something. It's 4 weeks already :(

  • @meggrotte4760
    @meggrotte4760 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's an excellent setup for a beta sorority and it's large enough to have two males. I think the only reason I wouldn't want that though is because I don't want baby bettas. Definitely a female sorority is awesome. I was blessed with a female sorority beta of four females and they all got along really well. Mainly because they were the same size and there was lots of plans for them to go to. I had that tank for about 2 years and they all went to heaven but then I put in a beta crown tail named panther and he has a community tank of five guppies I've had the tank for quite a while and the tank meets have been in there I think for about a month. I actually have a channel that I started a long time ago to keep a record of what was killing my fish Turns out I live in Taiwan and the water's volcanic but I fixed it. If you look at my most recent post which I'm not going to be escaping yet it's doing pretty well My channel is called welcome to the wire you're welcome to take a look at it. I'm sorry I started off with color gravel hardscape and plants

    • @BlessedWithPets
      @BlessedWithPets ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually very rare that they breed in a sorority. I have 2 males and 2 females in a 20g long along with 4 guppies and 2 plecos and they do just fine and they don’t breed.

    Hi IS, why do you think coarse gravel is better than polished gravel ?

    • @impyshrimpy2451
      @impyshrimpy2451 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coarse gravel has a lot of surface area, so more beneficial bacteria will colonize it, whereas polished gravel lacks total surface area.
