@@carlsanm1 I'm curious to know why Pedro's English is broken and Halina's isn't. Is it because of his accent? Needless to say, English is not my first language.🙂
i'm the biggest fan of this match because literally two of my favourite directors are having a chat about their movies. what a blast... halina reijn, you are an amazing storyteller and your female gaze will heal the cinema. i can't wait to watch more of your movies in the future. pedro almodovar, you are a legend and the reason why i want to make movies (also, my imaginary best friend). this conversation was pure magic. 'babygirl' and 'the room next door' are even more magical that i simply thank them for existing.
Such a delightful conversation! Lovely to see Halina's giddiness around Pedro. She is so genuine and passionate! Pedro is so interesting and kind and the two of them together are perfect. It's especially interesting to see them have common ground about working the Cocteau play but in different forms.
Pedro Almodovar has always been my favourite director. The way he tells stories and builds female characters is beautiful, sharing deep emotional truth. I'm intrigued about "Babygirl" more so that I was before watching their conversation. They are both such relevant creators.
"Men we are very dull." A classic Almodovarianism. Another one I remember...is..."Men are nothing but animals with coats." The guy is a freakin genius!
What a passionate conversation, I can feel the love for their job and the love for Cinema. The admiration and the respect for each other. Great pairing.
I knew about Halina Reijn when I went to watch "Zwartboek" (2006). Good actress and great filmmaker. I met Almodóvar twice many years ago. A very accessible, down-to-earth man.
What a beautiful conversation. A lot of connextion between them about actors they both work with and the film human voice pedro made en halina played in theater.
What a treat watching this after seeing both their films randomly on the same day while originally leaving this house to go see Nosferatu-- what a great year for human stories through cinema OMG. Will Halina perhaps direct an episode of Big Little Lies season 3?
I love their conversation. So balanced and really interested in each other, both are good listeners. Looking forward their new movies. I made once a drawing of Halina Reijn, called Van God Los. From actor to director, she is very taltented.
The last director I worked with is a German, so beautifully direct, we could cut any fluff and focus on the craft. I like how they talked about casting.
PEDRO IS GOD. Halina is enticing, mischievous genius. this conversation is such a treat. like my bday, xmas and nye under a ribbon. Pedro's english is gotten so good, his story and presence, his malice and inteligence. Halina is the ideal pairing, so articulate, a theater soul. this is what we want and deserve variety, thank you. the directors' pairings >>>> actors this season. pure elation.
Love🥰 love 🥰love 🥰this pairing, they need to make movies together❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ This with the Tilda\Adrien and the Kieran\Colman pairing, are the bestest bestest early Xmas gifts ever🎁🎁🎁🎁
their conversation about me too movement seemed to lack the understanding sexual assault/harassment is more about violence than passion. I do not see how it can shut woman down to express their desires. It does the opposite bc it promotes enthusiastic consent.
I don't think that contradicts with their point. They emphasized the importance of expression many times, because supression is what can create dangerous environments.
I find it quite remarkable that Almodóvar doesn't mention that The Room Next Door is an adaptation of Sigrid Nunez' novel What Are You Going Through. Sure, it's h i s adaptation but credit would have been due. Come one, Pedro.
@@marina_9236 Sure, Nunez was credited at the end of the movie. But he should have mentioned her in this conversation, too. If it wasn't for her novel, he wouldn't have made this beautiful picture. But don't get me wrong, I still love him big time!
He only loosely based his film on the book. More like an inspiration. But Almodovar is known to never be very faithful to the source material. For him the source is just a “start-off”, just an inspiration if you will.
But Nicole Kidman has been very open about how she felt not safe or felt bad, acting those sexual scenes in Babygirl. It might be taken out of context, the video of her talking about that, but I have never heard her talk this way, ever, in promotion of her movies. This is good stuff!!
The audience doesn’t want to hear the endless ‘me, me,me’ stories of this woman (maybe she wants to get a part or promoting herself with Pedro?). People want to hear what Pedro has to say😊
What an absolute delight this pairing is. I had a smile on my face whenever Pedro would make Halina have an unexpected giggle.
"is it an aggression to look at someone with desire?" amazing conversation!
The language barrier makes this whole thing even more special
Totally! And Halina with her openness and empathy understanding everything that Pedro with his broken English wanted to say. So much sweetness here.
@@carlsanm1 I'm curious to know why Pedro's English is broken and Halina's isn't. Is it because of his accent? Needless to say, English is not my first language.🙂
@@raz0198 It's because Halina grew up in the Netherlands in the 80s and Pedro in the 60s in Francoist Spain
@@jonykaa739 I know, but why is Pedro's English broken or is his English much much worse than Halina's?
Dutch is closer to English than Spanish

Qué maravillosa conversación, muy europea, con espontaneidad, risas y mucha apertura por parte de ambos.
Muchas gracias ❤
This conversation between Pedro Almodóvar and Halina Reijn is so insightful and inspiring!
What a privilege and joy to witness the magic symbiosis between these two !
I loved the interview, how impressive Almodóvar is when speaking English, and the chemistry he has with Halina Reijn.

I would have loved to have seen Halina star in an Almodovar movie. I think both their authenticity would be a perfect match!

Lots of great things in store for Reijn. Extremely talented, much like Almodovar.
Not many Americans know that Halina Reijn is one of the most talented actresses of the Netherlands.
What a passionate conversation, I can feel the love for their job and the love for Cinema.
The admiration and the respect for each other.

what a great pairing!
Babygirl is such a great movie
i’m so excited to watch babygirl !!!
Ive seen it and it is great, very psychological smart and entertaining
This is so incredibly rich and interesting to listen to!!! Thank you.
I want to be funnily proud of myself just like Pedro here “….so I would like to keep talking about Nicole Kidman and how much do you admire MY work” 😂
what a fascinatingly vibe-filled pairing
What is this comment 😂 are you a Gen Z from California with no job?

He removed his sunglassed only when they spoke about Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas .Some subtile superiority

why does he keep his sunglasses on...
I wonder Why does Almodovar wear sunglasses?
After years of working as a director, eyes can get sensitive to camera lights.
I think wearing sunglasses during a conversation is unrespectful..take 'm off!!!

Seriously. That’s your take of this.
It's a conversation between the two of them, she's not interviewing him. Both talked about their own work and the other person's work equally.
Honestly, Pedro also talked a lot about himself. And Halina asked him many more in-depth questions than vice versa…
first view
Two very overrated directors.
who are they?
Their names are RIGHT there, and the subject is directors on directors. What do you think?
The description has their films if you're interested. The current films from each is *The Room Next Door* and *Babygirl*
Legendary Spanish director Pedro Almodovar and famous Dutch actress-turned-succesful-director Halina Reijn.
Pedro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a meh director
Both of these films are ass
What ? It’s not even out
The non-talent known as Halina Reijn. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Zuur ben je.
Jaloers?
Geweldige film Babygirl maar ja niet voor iedereen als je simpele actiefilms zoekt is het ook wat veel gevraagd
Almodovar is rubbish.Viva España.
