It's crazy to think that tapes this old are still being newly discovered & archived for the first time on the internet. I like to think and imagine about how many tapes that we don't have archived and hardly anyone knows about due to being lost to time. It's kinda sad that we may never hear certain tapes ever, but it is what it is I guess. Anyways, thank you so much for this banger good sir!
Sir, you just did god's work. I listened to this joint just once in one of my uncle's bbq and never found a copy to listen to lol. That fifth track really jogged the memory. Thank you sir. 🎧✨️👌
Yo this Lil Claiborne and I been fucking with S.M.K. since elementary school and im 43 yrs strong right now. Much love and Rest in Paradise to Micheal Johnson who was my big brother from another mother who i looked up to and put me on this dope shit!!!
We out here archiving the culture! Thanks for spreading the Memphis gems. What a piece of history. Remember playas people will work twice as hard to take what you worked for. Put your vibes into the air and protect yourself. Know your worth.
Yes, Fury, I forgot...thank you for reminding me...especially his "Don't Talk, Just Listen" that thing sounds like the perfect medium of Miami and Memphis...
for some reason i could not help imagining Mozart loving "All You Bitches" and getting all excited about the new direction he was going to explore .. at a High Society get together in some Grand Princes listening room.. with all the fine ladies and gents of the day in attendance
the hissing noise brings back memories of trying to master, and do tapes of, my recordings years ago and wishing i had enough money for a two track reel to reel and a way to get vinyl pressed that would not bankrupt me crazy how the tech situation has improved in a lot of ways but creativity was often at its peak back then was NOT easy to build up loops back then (as a proportion of income, a sampler and decent mixing desk and decent speakers was WAY out of budget for a lot of us
Growing up on Memphis and Texas mixtapes really got my mind into a southern state of mind . Being from Cali always admired the same under ground sound coming from those parts of the country
"Bumpin That Shit" quite literally sounds like something Diplo and Chuck Inglish would have produced in 2009 for M.I.A. and Teyana Taylor...that thing is way of it's time!
Love these type of "mixed" tracks, and when I find one from S.M.K. it's always a banger. Thanks for uploading this rip! I also saw those stories of this tape on IG and wanted to hear more of it lol
my friend had this tape, used to listen to it in rotation with Natas, Esham(that's more Detriot stuff, really) Juicy Jay, Gansta Pat. just smoking weed in the alternative high school parking lot 😶🌫That's wild I found this!
imagine if Skinny and Sound collaborated in the early 90's before they each fully formed their groups - "Untitled Beat 2" is what I would imagine...quirky bleeps and blorps over epic spacey samples...
i actually REALLY wonder how many tapes he did like this "Ghetto Beats" and this 1 pops up. Don't feel bad for choosing a title, it just be like that sometimes. Still remember when TW3 repressed Ghetto Beats like 5 at the most and i created track titles and than King JC put his OG tape up and no lie i was pretty damn near for track titles.....Funny though these tapes are so rare that Sun City don't have Rights for them Because it was not part of SMK's catalogue of music...Wonder how many are out there SMK might not remember of????? 💯 👻 SPK-G ✌
@@CR520. well Sun City took me down some time back.......Just gotta be careful what we post.....And no lie never heard this 1 ever and it does Bang keep doing what your doing for collecting......Someday in life we all have to let it go.....1 person sometime soon will be like WTF a shoe box of tapes (no names) just saying, SOON....I'm getting old and when i RIP a track thats because it brings back memories.....Errybody ask for full rips, I focus on 1 or more for why i Bought the tape....OR CD ETC.
It’s not a bad assumption to say that SMK has more tapes like Ghetto Beats & this one, since he is a producer first & rapper second. Guess SMK’s instrumental tapes/mixtapes are a bit more “obscure” since they aren’t labeled like other tapes like DJ Squeeky’s Volumes, etc…
@@ss036 SMK also has a large gap between his official albums -- The Real Side of Me was released in 1991, then Ain't Nuttin Shakin in 1996. "Ghetto Beats" and "19 Niiga 4" are from that gap, but there is plenty of time for more tapes in between.
December 22/23rd,2024. Its cold as shit. 10:55 is a cool ass beat, dude. Im listining to this guy for the first time but hes got some pretty good shit, the only other Memphis guy im familiar with is Tommy Wright.

LEGENDARY DISCOVERY
the drum and 808 programming on that second track is insane, reminds me a lot of that lost squeeky mix in that jaquency ford exclusive video
Yes! Sounds like if Squeeky tried to make a mix sound like Magic Mike!
@@startervisionsall of the memphis producers were definitely really inspired by magic mike and dj fury, miami was ahead of their time too

BANGERS
sounds like Magic Mike mixed with some Squeeky...what an amazing find for the Memphis archives...thank you for sharing this piece of music history!
magic mike and other miami bass artists were basically how the memphis sound came to life, and SMK was the first to mix it like that
There I was, cruising San Andreas like a bass hat…
