Those green blocks on the back of the tractor are weights to counter balance the equipment installed on the front. The store is probably expecting a 250-300lb male to be driving the tractor and blowing snow. You will to need heavier weights on the back to counter the weight of the blower, as the operator is part of the counter balance.
Getting stuck and having to get yourself out, getting your garden mower set up to snowblow, installing a deadbolt-- all so relatable when you are female (and not necessarily brought up doing those hands on things, nor "expected" to figure out how to do them) is so relatable! I like your attitude and in fact am inspired by it. Like you, I am always stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new, and often a little scary. I also tend to learn the hard way, but learn I do. I am about to embark on an adventure after buying a 1987 Toyota Dolphin camper truck. I need to restore it, as it's basically original like some 70's nightmare, and then hit the road.Except when I drove it home, I've never driven an RV, set up all the propane systems, or even gassed one up, let alone traveled cross country alone in one. Your example makes me think maybe I can do it too. Thanks from a 66 years young kindred soul from Colorado.
Girl! I'm not sure what pulls me in to want to watch your life, but your strong will, kind heart, whimsical outlook, and your craftiness abilities to tackle your days while still being able to admit that we're all still learning, is such a breath of fresh air! What camera do you like to use for capturing your life on video? I'm sure editing takes effort, I'm a budding artist and you're inspiring, thanks!
I have a lot to learn! We have a lot to learn. We learn from you, we learn from one another, thru trial and error, through facing and thru effort and succeeding! If you're failing, it means you're trying at least! It's all in how you look at it! I love you, this video makes my day. You make a YT a big part of what it is! A big part of my joy often begins here, with you Hannah!
I am so grateful that you have sponsors. After however long it’s been without your videos… you are a necessity in my routine and we are so blessed that it’s FREE. Missed ya!
That’s another reason I love watching you. You enjoy figuring things out on your own. It’s such a great feeling when we don’t give up and figure things out. We love you. ❤
Hannah, as someone who's lived their whole life in the PNW where we get a lot of snow, I always carry chains, a couple bags of cat litter, and a little shovel. Cat litter works as instant traction if you're needing a quick fix... the other 2 are self-explanatory. Cat litter works just like gravel and is super cheap. Carry a couple bags with you wherever you go and you'll be amazed at how well it works!
Lawn tires on snow/ice no bueno. Chains or more aggressive treaded rears. Posted before your epiphany. So proud of you for conquering everything life throws at you. Well played!
I am in Pa., and when there use to be real snow, years ago, people used the ashes to help with traction. They would save it from the wood stoves, in metal garbage cans, outside. In case an ember was still hot. I believe they do make weights for the tractor wheels. But it looks like chains would be best there. It does look gorgeous with the snow!
life can be challeging each day. key is to love ourselves and to love what we do each day. sitting out by a fire is amazing during the day. you havew great content and enjoy watching them as i drink my morning drink, tea or coffee.
It's always such a joy to watch your videos. Whether it's traveling, projects, or just day to day tidbits, you make it so nice and calming with the music and nature/cosy environment shots :))
Getting stuff done is awesome! Sometimes it feels like an uphill slog, but we just gotta keep going till we get it done! Thanks, Hannah. Watching you persevere got me through my daunting task tonight.
What a great episode! You accomplished so much and I am continuously impressed by you. It’s a wonderful quality you have of always wanting to learn. Your life will never be boring that way. Looking forward to more videos! Have a lovely week!
It’s a lot easier if you get up on the deck, put the shovel down on the deck and push the whole length of the deck to shove a big pile of snow off. You won’t have to pick it up. You just shove it it’s a lot easier and that deck will be clear a lot quicker.
Hannah, you need to disengage the transmission before pulling or pushing the tractor. There's a small rod that sticks out of the back of the tractor just behind the weights. You pull that out depending on how your model is there might be a pin or clip that you would move into the next hole further in on the rod to keep it out and disengaged. You shouldn't need any tools to do this and only takes a few seconds to do. Also in addition to the tire chains I would recommend getting two more weights as I see you only have two. And one more thing if your worried about your battery instead of taking it in and out of the tractor consider just leaving a trickle charger hooked up to it while it's parked. Love the videos and how determined you are, your the best take care. ❄☃️
13:00 I know that feeling all too well. I've been living alone for years (in the city though) and the things I did just so I wouldn't have to ask for help are kind of hilarious. Like I pushed up a large couch and piano on a narrow staircase (that also had a sharp corner to make things more difficult) and also somehow managed to get my washing machine down that said staircase without dying. Situations like these make you very inventive 😂
Moved a refrig out and new one inside. (Made a small owie on the linoleum! 🤷♀️) Put a new starter knob on my old dryer. Replaced fence boards. Changed out a light fixture. If I was sill young, I would continue to do these type of things. Proud I could do so in the past!
An 'I can" mindset and love for learning equips us to fight and conquer any of life's battles! Anything is possible for those willing to work hard and make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen.
Hannah, you are a true inspiration, smart and amazing lady! You need a right men, because most can't do 1/4 of the things that you can. It would take a real special one to be comfortable with a lady that can do almost everything! ❤❤❤❤❤
my therapist framed hobbies to me as "non productive activities" when I was working through feeling the need to constantly be working while burnt out. it really helped me.
I love watching everything you create! ❤ I'm in California and it's been cold!!! Seeing you out in PJs with so much snow just amazed me. I'm yelling at my TV Hannah you're going to catch a cold! 😂😂
One thing that will help you with the tractor is to put some weight on the back of it. When you added the snowblower to the front, it pulled down the front and took a lot of weight off the back, making the tires have less grip. Your tractor should have some bolt holes for adding options to the back. Just get an extension shelf and put some heavy weights, like concrete blocks, on the shelf and it will give you better traction with the rear wheels.
Honestly, just reading the comments is sending me😂. So many men trying to mansplain how tires and security systems work. Hannah has it covered and doesn’t need your “advice”. Scrolling and seeing her comments back to them just makes me giggle
Put some quad tires on that mower. Plus let some air out. They are a softer compound, and will grip better. You currently have turf tires, and they are going to be awful in any type of snow. Some riding mowers you can add weights to the rear wheels. That will help with traction also.
This was one of my favorite videos. I loved the way it told the story. It followed a theme, (whether intentionally or accidentally). It started out with you excited to try your new plow, then frustrated that it got stuck, then determined to fix the problem yourself (and the struggles of that) and then, in the end, proud, satisfied and on your merry way again (in the dark helped too). Great job Hannah. You're a great role model for people everywhere.
Awesome snowthrower - congrats on the smart purchase! Hannah, you are definitely going to need chains and a pair of "suitcase weights." The chains aren't easy to get hooked around the tires, even though all you're technically supposed to have to do is lay them out and drive over them. At least, they're tough for me (69/F). The weights sort of hang off the brackets on the rear of the mower. They weigh a ton, but they absolutely do the job!
As always, you inspire me so much ❤️ When you accomplish projects, after one of your videos, I find myself doing projects that I have put off. Thank you Hannah so much for the inspiration 💗
Go online and purchase dirt bike snow and ice screws. You can install them in your tractors tires with a simple driver with a nut driver. However you will then need to put a half bottle of green slim in your tires after as they will cause leaks. On a dirt bike they are set into the knobbies so they don't puncture the tires, but I suspect they will on your snow blower tractor. But after that you will have all kinds of traction. I ride snow and ice all winter on my dirt bike and the traction is awesome. I installed them in my walk behind snowblower and they worked wonders and my driveway is at least 9 degrees up hill.
hey hannah! you need to board up all your windows and also install a moat with alligators around all your structures. also you could try sleeping in a steel reinforced panic room. oh and you need chains for your tires. hope this helps!
You are so resourceful! The closet looks amazing. Just one concern, if someone were to break the glass on the door, couldn't they just reach in and unlock the deadbolt?
@@hannahleeduggan, a "double keyed deadbolt" is preferred for glass doors, rather than the "thumb bolt deadbolt." Also, make sure you use extra long screws in the latch plate on the door casing. Just wanting to make sure you're safe!! Hang a key for the deadbolt somewhere near the door but out of sight and reach of anyone peering in.
You need a winch so you can pull stuff out when it gets stuck. You can also use it in the summer to get yourself out of the mud! I also have seen TikTok videos where they put outdoor carpet runners on the stairs so when it snows all you need to do is pull the runners to clear the snow… believe it may cut down on the ice should you get an ice storm. Hope these help.
My new chicken corral was struggling under the weight of heavy wet snow and i had to fix it in freezing temp! You were my motivation. I pictured you would just get out there and muscle up a solution. It took me all day yesterday working it spurts today its 3 degrees (michigan) so glad i fixed it yesterday! Thanks foe the motivation!
Also I use a powerful cordless leaf blower and two rechargeable batteries that I clean the whole driveway and decks, dry snow here, and you gotta get it right away when powdery not good for wet snow, I like it better than hauling out the small snow joe snow blower, and I blow my vehicle free of snow too.
If you have a five below/ dollar store nearby, they have great puzzles! I got great advice from the elderly folks at the nursing home I worked at, apparently 300 piece is the perfect amount to start and isn’t too overwhelming to complete if you don’t have all the time in the world.
Route tire chains and 2 more wait in the back or on that model. You can actually get wheel weightstalk to your local john deere dealer, i'm a John deere mechanic and they do carry those types of things Anyway, you are doing a great job. I love your blue eyes. You're amazing woman. Keep up the good work
Have you thought about writing a book? You are a great role model for young women, older woman, and people in general. I think a book is a great idea...what do other people think???
Maybe find a good ghost writer; there's tons of material in 317 videos/comments. and it's all wonderful content. Hannah Lee your intelligent mom would make a great project manager.
Your tree was beautiful. I love a live tree that you can see through the branches. It looks like millions more lights when you can see through and the ornaments hang well. But I’ve had an artificial tree because I love to keep my tree up for about 5-6 weeks. I love the snow too. I’m in Michigan so we probably got the big snow just after you. That bomb cyclone blizzard is what we had though, with white outs and 55 mph winds.
I know a lot of people only try to be helpful with the "You didn't do..." Or "You should..." comments, but honestly just comes off rather condescending 80% of the time. She's shown she's very capable (I mean just look at the projects she's done and FILMED for thousands to see). Let the lady BUILD, y'all 😂 Or at least finish the video before giving "suggestions" 🤣
There are an amazing amount of useful comments from the Hannah Lee comment section. I love construction hacks. A great place for a 68 yo DIYer to learn; thank you Hannah Lee and y'all.
Great job on getting yourself un stuck! Here are a few tricks! You can use a floor mat out of your cars , or kitty litter works great too! Also some of those john degrees have a peddle that lo KS in your differentials! Look in your owner manual for were it's at!
I have the same tractor/snowthrower set up. I have a 50lb wheel weight on each wheel and have always used tire chains as well. This year I changed the tires to agricultural tread and took off the lawn saver tires, now I dont need to put on and take off the tire chains every season.
Take branches off the trees, those help. Lay the chains down flat behind the tires, back up onto the chains and hook them up over the top of the tires. :)
I’m soon to be 66 years young I don’t live in the woods but in the country I too have to do these things but I don’t have a wood burning stove so no chopping wood but I do my mowing cleaning up after storms (tree limbs) clean my gutters , try to make my one repairs faucets , garbage disposal, hot water heater , so proud of all your doing
I'm back a few years after your first video with the cabin... I think about it from time to time, and my youtube really doesn't like to show me follow up videos. The progress you've made is insane! Thanks for sharing so us dreamers know we can achieve our goals.
Getting stuck in snow is so frustrating! But also so rewarding and kinda fun to figure out....cause you HAVE to get to get it done! I didn't think about ash before!! I keep cat litter in my car just incase! Hannah you got great problem solving and life skills! Love learning with you!
Thank you for reminding me that everyone learns their whole life. Had a shitty evening only caused by myself and I need to learn from it instead of drilling my psych with it. Congrats on one milion subs :)
I have seen others lay the chains out on the ground behind the vehicle's tires, all straight and smooth, and then *back up* onto the chains and then secure then together on top of the tire.
There are so many little things needed for life to get things done properly and well, especially in a northern climate! It is great to see your persistence and determination with your projects. I had some reservations about the sturdiness of your closet, but the end result looks like it turned out good and should hold up just fine! Things don’t have to be perfect to work. I’ve had 2 pallets for a deck for years and they get the job done and have never rotted 😄 I have never used chains but should probably get familiar with them. I have snow tires for my vehicles. This summer I got new all season nice tires for my Subaru and they’ve done great so far this winter!
Troubleshooting a bunch of problems while realizing that you just got your period and just carrying on is so relatable lol.
That's what us women do💪🙂
I felt it as well 😅
The "and I just started my period" carried such an implied "which might be half my problem" was both so relatable and such a rude attack on my person.

You make a
YT a big part of what it is! A big part of my joy often begins here, with you Hannah!
Experiences and just daily life teaches us so much! You're way ahead of the curve! Your sense of adventure and desire to discover is wonderful!
I’ll keep that in mind
I am in Pa., and when there use to be real snow, years ago, people used the ashes to help with traction. They would save it from the wood stoves, in metal garbage cans, outside. In case an ember was still hot. I believe they do make weights for the tractor wheels. But it looks like chains would be best there. It does look gorgeous with the snow!
life can be challeging each day. key is to love ourselves and to love what we do each day. sitting out by a fire is amazing during the day. you havew great content and enjoy watching them as i drink my morning drink, tea or coffee.
You mud room is so pretty and neat! I have always wondered how to install a dead bolt. Love this!
It's always such a joy to watch your videos. Whether it's traveling, projects, or just day to day tidbits, you make it so nice and calming with the music and nature/cosy environment shots :))
We only share bad stuff on my channel😮
Getting stuff done is awesome! Sometimes it feels like an uphill slog, but we just gotta keep going till we get it done! Thanks, Hannah. Watching you persevere got me through my daunting task tonight.
What a great episode! You accomplished so much and I am continuously impressed by you. It’s a wonderful quality you have of always wanting to learn. Your life will never be boring that way. Looking forward to more videos! Have a lovely week!
Get some Bungees for your snow chains. The rubber ones. From the Truck Stop. It helps keep them on, so they don’t fall off and you lose one.
You learned new things, accomplished a lot and had fun too. Happy New Year!
We just had the plow attachment put on our lawn tractor, they put chains on our back tires.. I think you want/need them!
Did you watch the video?
Kitty Litter , Keep a couple of bags in your shed. It’s a Great thing to have in the Wintertime.
It’s a lot easier if you get up on the deck, put the shovel down on the deck and push the whole length of the deck to shove a big pile of snow off. You won’t have to pick it up. You just shove it it’s a lot easier and that deck will be clear a lot quicker.
I’m literally so proud of you and everything you’re accomplishing. 💜💜💜 thank you so much for sharing these adventures with us.
PS. If you take some of the air out of the tire before putting the chains on it's easier to get then on then put air back in after there on.
Did you say, "Pivot" to yourself?! 😅
@@paulas_lens among many other things 😎
An 'I can" mindset and love for learning equips us to fight and conquer any of life's battles! Anything is possible for those willing to work hard and make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen.
Hannah, you are a true inspiration, smart and amazing lady! You need a right men, because most can't do 1/4 of the things that you can. It would take a real special one to be comfortable with a lady that can do almost everything! ❤❤❤❤❤
I get what you're saying but I can't help but respond that no one "needs" a man. It's good to have family and community but that's enough ❤
my therapist framed hobbies to me as "non productive activities" when I was working through feeling the need to constantly be working while burnt out. it really helped me.
I love watching everything you create! ❤ I'm in California and it's been cold!!! Seeing you out in PJs with so much snow just amazed me. I'm yelling at my TV Hannah you're going to catch a cold! 😂😂
Non clumping kitty litter works for traction for cars so should work on ice with the tractor. Works for me. Keeps well in garage or trunk forever!
I just need to say you inspire me you uplift my day and you are a true motivation in my life happy new year 2024 may it be a blessed one
And when guys stop offering to help, we're going to have a much worse problem.
Thank you! Incredibly helpful!!
Hannah you make life chores look so much fun. 😄⛄️
They are!
@@hannahleeduggan totally agree!!
you’re living the life i want to live. i love watching your videos. i hope to own a cabin in the middle of nowhere someday
You are so resourceful! The closet looks amazing. Just one concern, if someone were to break the glass on the door, couldn't they just reach in and unlock the deadbolt?
my security system would go off and i would hear the glass breaking, giving me more time to respond.
That's what I do, but someone recently told me it's against code. I guess it's a fire hazard? @@KayKayClaudette-mh4wc
You need to reinforce the corners of your cupboard. Just something fixed to both the verticals and the horizontals, so it can't lean over.
Hannah, what an accomplishment! You really are a fantastic problem solver.
Sheeees back! Yay❤You’re like a jolt of joy on a cold snowy day!
AYY way to get after it!!
tire chains and weights in back wheels
Chains and counter weights. The blower is putting more weight and slightly lifting the rear tires. That and chains will make snowplowing a breeze.
You make figuring things out look fun and a little bit easy (though I know it is not). You are very inspiring!
Get you some rubber mats, like in your car. They work. I had to use them when I would get stuck in my Volkswagen. You get traction. Good luck.
Queen, things have been beyond shit for me atm and I’ve missed you!
Samsies .. prayers and good vibes for us !
I have the same tractor/snowthrower set up. I have a 50lb wheel weight on each wheel and have always used tire chains as well. This year I changed the tires to agricultural tread and took off the lawn saver tires, now I dont need to put on and take off the tire chains every season.
Hanna: “20 it’s not so cold”
Me in Texas today: “Fuck it’s cold as fuck. It’s 20 outside, do I look like Santa.. I’m gonna die”
Today it’s -6 🥵
Hollow core building with Hannah. Love it.
Let some air out of the tires
Take branches off the trees, those help. Lay the chains down flat behind the tires, back up onto the chains and hook them up over the top of the tires. :)
Dear Hannah are you OK? You haven't posted anything in two weeks. Not even a note in the community section.
Yes, I was wondering the exact same thing.
I love how the shelf building was edited! The comedic timing was top notch! XD
Getting stuck in snow is so frustrating! But also so rewarding and kinda fun to figure out....cause you HAVE to get to get it done! I didn't think about ash before!! I keep cat litter in my car just incase! Hannah you got great problem solving and life skills! Love learning with you!
Kitty liter under the wheels helps with traction.
I like the snowblower, chains do make a difference Spring is just around the corner 😊
