Happy New Year!!! We've missed you these last two weeks and are so excited to be jumping back into our weekly schedule of a new Podcast every Wednesday at 9:00am Eastern Time! What did you think of our hot take on resolutions? Do you set them for yourself each year?? If so, share with everyone below what terrible trait of yours that you're trying to fix 😂
Welcome back ❤❤ hope you enjoyed your holidays and how I missed Tangets 😅😅 I don't believe in New years resolutions. I slept at like 9pm haha on New years Eve
Happy New Year T&T & fur babies 3. 😄 I gave up on setting New Year resolutions a long time ago. When you have nobody to be accountable to, it’s too easy to let those resolutions slip….so I just work on being the best me I can be. 😊 Hope you have had a lovely break away from the camera & video editing over the holidays. Can’t wait to get caught up on all of your shenanigans! 😅👩🏼🦽🐈
Happy New Year, Tyler and Todd! I'm a 79 yr. young woman living in Las Vegas, NV. You two have me laughing and smiling to the extent that my face hurts by the time you sign off. I love you both so much! You have a wonderful way of making me forget, for a while, all the insanity going on in my country. Thank you for brightening up my life.
Please, please, please...more Tea please. I have been taking care of my adult son for a long time with his mental health issues and never seem to laugh anymore. You both make me laugh so hard and forget all my troubles. Please, more tea. An entire episode of nothing but Tea. You have the best youtube channels EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
I am a certified Health and Wellbeing Coach and I know a lot about behavior change. I have helped many people make significant positive changes to their lives. For what it is worth, I do not set New Year's resolutions, but I do update my vision and goals quarterly. My focus begins not with what I plan to do but who I plan to be :)
I've been watching your channel since before covid. I've watched all of your build with the land, and was surprised when you put the brakes on it. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to see you stop after all you've been through, but I totally understand. Honestly, I think most people would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. Anyway, the reason I'm commenting is because of the comment you made about having a little hotel or something. This reminded me of a dream I had about a year and a half, or so, ago. In the dream I was at your place. I don't recall everything, but I was there with a group of friends. There was a big celebration, I think it was Pride or something. In the dream there were people camping in RV's, although we were staying in a two story cabin. I remember the trails, the outdoor shower, and the wine. I even took you some of the wine that I make, I hope you liked it. Point being, maybe that's what direction you should go with the land, a gay retreat. It would be fabulous. Love the cabin on the lake too, btw.
I think you guys would make great B and B hosts. My husband and I for many years went to a B&B on Lake Tahoe. They were little rustic cabins, and then you go into the main house for breakfast, and there are fresh baked cookies in a jar in the kitchen to help yourself during the day. They then serve wine at 4 and that is it! We went so many times a year, that we became friends with the owners and once in awhile would help where needed. You guys would be very good at that, it’s not dealing with a lot of people at one time, and I found that it’s “like” people that come to this type of B&B. Just a thought….
Yeah, time goes faster every single year! The two most important things to factor in are 1, purposely making time to make memories, and not letting the moments slip away, and 2, looking after your physical body, exercising, healthy habits ect ect. That’s so incredibly important, everything is miserable if your knees, hips, back, whatever constantly hurt and make even getting up to make a cup of coffee is a huge effort and costs you way more than it’s worth! When you’re young you just can’t imagine how hard everything can be.
The being grateful for water feeling will never go away, when I was 15 we moved from Vancouver to a farm in Alberta with a well that only had 1 foot of water in the bottom and my sister and I had to supply 7 family members with water and in the water we collected only rain, my stepmother was very hard on us to do all this. But I will was I am now 63 and I still am still extremely grateful for running water. ❤
As far as I'm concerned, being informed does not require plugging in to the endless cycle. I watch some news in the morning and except for the weather, that's it for my day.
I love "intentions" vs resolutions. I don't make resolutions, never have. I feel by doing that is to set myself up for disappointment. I always just try to be better or do better than I previously was.
I decided years ago to do intentions... and not just at the beginning of the year... but an ongoing check-in with myself. I once heard it said like this: If you were to climb out of a hole in the middle of nowhere and looked around. In one direction was the ocean, another desert, another a forest, and the last direction was the mountains. And you decide you're going to head towards the mountains. You'd like to reach it or summit it or cross it... but you want to go towards the mountain. You keep evaluating from there. You take step the direction of the mountains and you're working ON your intention (something got done) versus working TOWARDS a resolution (you don't get to celebrate until you reach the end). Like if you said you want to lose 100 lbs. by this date... but the date comes and you've ONLY lost 95. You've missed your resolution. You don't have to wait until you've hit 100 (or any specific weight) to be happy or celebrate... you celebrate because you're making steps to lose that weight... whatever those steps are. It's worked really well for me... and I've be doing that about 12 years now. Also, anyone struggling with weight and/or their relationship with food... I heard something last year that resonated with me and you might find it helpful: "Stop assigning morals to food." Happy New Year's everyone!
Todd, you are right about time. The older I get the faster time goes. My thought is because I’m more aware of my own mortality. I will be 60 in April and 30 years ago I didn’t worry about the things I worry about now. 😮Now, I’m more present in all aspects of my life.
There are few scenes more heartwrenching than the separation of a mother cow from her calf when the latter is taken from her, which occurs shortly after birth on most farms and after a couple of days on the "happy" farms. The profound distress that mother and baby express is clear and unquestionable. If your enjoyment of milk, cheese, or ice cream matters more to you than the distress of these individuals, you need to do some serious self-examination.'
Resolution is something people make in the last part of the year without any real reflection on their life now but where they want to be in the future. Goals are about taking our lives to our best level and best selves, and they can be made anytime of the year. If we are serious we figure out the plan to get us there or at least a place to start the path to get there. Resolution = daydreams, goals living our best life
Turn of the Year ,,, out with the old in with the new,,,, a commitment to change / improvement. Cathartic… cleansing. Learn from your mistakes,,,,, and for yourself,,,, KEEP A JOURNAL,,,, NOT TO SHARE,,,BUT TO REFER BACK TO AND REMEMBER JUST WHERE YOUR HEAD WAS AT ON ANY PARTICULAR DAY. ONE YEAR ON . ITS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU. WILL EVER READ.
This episode felt like you were plugged in to my mind. Your thoughts, feelings, concerns... I'm on the same page with you, page after page. Has to be the same with many in the audience. So, when you wonder if it's just you guys who see it that way, the answer is, you're definitely not alone. You both do an excellent job of putting into words what most of us are feeling, with humor and diplomacy. I couldn't quite do as well as you... I can dish out the humor, but I'm not generous with diplomacy. As an enthusiastic fan of your channels, with admiration and love for each of you, my experienced advice is that the top priority in your lives should always be to savor every precious moment with each other. Safeguarding your individual physical and mental health is an important ingredient to strengthen and increase the moments you will have available to savor. Your relationship is a radiant beauty in this world. Absolutely stunningly beautiful. P.S. Consider purposing The Land as a 🏳️🌈 campground resort if zoning will allow it.
47:16 I also find myself having to unplug from the news especially when getting ready for work in the morning as it was setting the tone for my whole day.
My husband travelled every week for work ( at least 45 out of 52 weeks a yr) for 10 years. I knew that going in so I was ok with it and made the commitment. We were married in 1980. Not always ☀️ and🍭 but life’s an adventure right.❤
I came home from physical therapy in a great deal of pain and totally bummed. Then, I saw Tyler and Todd Tangents had a new video. By the time I finished watching it my pain was forgotten and my mood had lifted. Thank you so much. You probably don't realize the positive impact you have on your viewers. Keep it up!
Fireworks started off in China. In order to experience your life more fully, it behooves you to practice presence, that is being fully present in each moment as it unfolds. Spend less time thinking about the past or worrying about the future. When you are fully present in each moment as it unfolds, you have the opportunity to enjoy the moment as well as make choices which fuel your well-being and joy in life. Meditation is a good practice to adopt, and it doesn't have to be a sitting meditation, you can do a walking one where you consciously walk around your property, see everything as you go, feel and hear it. That is a presence focused within nature.
That's why 2 years ago I quit smoking on December 1st instead of the New Year so no pressure to brake a resolution. Now proud to say I've been cigarette free.
*** fun fact.. some folks build a dropped ceiling in their domes.. it helps keep the heat in the lower half, just like in a regular house with an attic. insulate it and use those sunroof tubes to bring the sunlight down to the living area.. Use the attic space for storage. .. Might be something to think about if you're going to keep the land and have people rent it or family have a get away..
It is so good to see/ hear you guys again. Right now I'm battling with depression/ anxiety attacks (happens every year at about this time of year). You cheer me up, so I'm always looking forward to your next video.
About the Sandra problem. My mother always told us “you are setting the tone” every time one of us (kids) was in a bad mood. I now use it on my kids and where I work. It always worked.
Tyler and Todd, so good to see you back. Doing the podcast really enjoying it. Always enjoy watching all the videos as well. Wishing you and yours the very best in life. Take care
I started following your channel for the self-sufficiency. Not that I ever planned to be self-sufficient, but it was worth following. However I have stayed for the two of you. I like your outlook on life and your realism. Self-sufficiency is interesting, but very difficult. In my own life, I garden, live in a small house, and do things for myself. But I have no desire to be self-sufficient. I live in a society. I respect you both for changing gears when you recognized reality. Excited to see what you bring in the future!
I can see a wedding venue on the land. The dome can be where they can get married. And the container home can accomidate the wedding party. All you would need is space for food prep......so many possibilities 😂😂
I left my tree up for 2 years once. I told people the first half of the year that no one wanted to take it down and then from July said I was just getting ready for Christmas very early.
My son and I were sick over New Years. I didn't even know it until we were ripped out of our sleep by fireworks. I don't do resolutions either. I address things in the moment and it takes as long as it takes.
When we order sparklers for the store , they are shipped separately from the rest of the order. They are considered explosive, and are shipped as dangerous goods, so Todd you’re not wrong lol.
Here is Australia we celebrate new years at 8pm so the kids can see the fireworks. Everything tends to start earlier and end earlier in general. It’s great.
thanks, guy. Tyler is definately right about the one person passing news on to a "tree'". By the time it got to the end group, you wouldn't recognize it. Glad you have taken a break from the land and are "smelling the roses' so to speak.
Welcome back! My husband and I have never gone out and celebrated New Year’s. He was a professional fire fighter and over the years had to respond to too many tragic accidents on New Years. We stay in and toast ourselves with champagne, and are in bed before midnight.
“Sandra is Jill’s sister!” OMG! I laughed SO loud. Todd, you are hilarious. You need to be a comedy writer. Your imagination is twisted and truly special. Thanks for the huge laugh. The endorphins are still doing their thing 😂
My wife and I always travel in the off season. You will find rates more reasonable. We stayed a week at the beach last October and paid about $1,000. The weather was still warm and we had a wonderful time.
My Canadian friend celebrates New Year at my time here in the UK and then goes to bed early. I am only awake at that time because I have a teenager to pick up from whatever party he is at.
I was very happy to hear of your plans to continue the container home build. Every week I would tune in and watch in amazement of the projects that you were working on. It is refreshing and inspiring to hear you talk of your changed paradigm, which would not have been possible if you had not been able to remove yourself completely. It has been a joy to watch your progress and share in your ups and downs. You both should be very proud of all that you have accomplished throughout 2023. Thanks for sharing your journey. Best to you both and looking forward to an exciting 2024! Namaste boys!
I never make resolutions for New Years but always self-reflect and choose a word that I want to improve on in that year. The possibilities are endless and the word chosen can mean something different in January than it does in June or December. Glad you both enjoyed your holidays and look forward to all the wonders 2024 has in store for you both.
Hey guys, here in San Diego, CA we celebrate British New Year. Midnight in Lodon is 4 p.m. here. We ring in the new year, and get ourselves home before the amatuers get out there and do all their celebrating. Amsterdam is lovely to visit, but long term living, get out of the city center, or some quieter town.
Hi, I live in PEI and my husband and I travel in the winter with our 2 cats and a dog in a Class C, so much fun . Highly recommend. Come to PEI in September, still so beautiful, and the weather is usually great .
The tradition of using fireworks to celebrate the New Year has ancient roots. The practice is believed to have originated in ancient China, where fireworks were invented around 2,000 years ago. The Chinese used fireworks to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. Over time, this tradition spread to other cultures and regions. Fireworks became associated with celebrations and marking significant events, including the transition to a new year. Today, fireworks are a common part of New Year’s celebrations around the world, symbolizing joy, excitement, and the start of a new beginning.
My 2 cents (ok, probably dollars) about the land project. It sounds so cliche but I'm a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason". Hearing the two of you now, I reflected on watching that journey and now believe you were plummeting into complete burnout (if you hadn't already). You can only hit brick walls so many times before you crumble. The land is a double edged sword. On one hand it's like a dream come true but on the other, a semi dream, that came semi true with lots of hard bumps, bruises, extremely hard work and disappointments along the way. If the issue with the container home hadn't happened, Charlie's surgery hadn't happened (and I'm sorry it did), you might have never even considered buying the cabin and moving. Going away on vacation isn't time enough to really talk about, think about and decide long term goals, reevaluate your wants or decide if those have changed. The time you have now has and is giving you that. I love LOVE the land, but if you decide living there off grid isn't your dream anymore, then you know you've decided over time with lots of thought, reasoning and discussion about your decision. ❤🐾🐱🐾❤️
Loved watching you both so much. You're awesome people! Enjoyed watching you build an off grid Homestead lifestyle together & everything that THAT kind of lifestyle consisted of. Happy, for you both, that you're enjoying this new adventure that you've suddenly converted to. Will definitely miss watching you 2. I'll keep checking in, from time to time, to see what new adventures you've decided to try out. Live your life to your fullest! All the best, to both of you, on finding what will fulfill your dream lifestyle. Keep doing you! 💙💙
Okay, you guys. After listening to you for half a year, and listening to millennials in my office, I'm now convinced that the anxiety and pressure talk is almost entirely performative, or serving some other purpose that's not actually about being anxious and pressured and unable to commit and perform. Because you do. You produce massively and you do it routinely. So my resolution this year is to stop taking y'all so seriously when you talk this way, because you're doing it for your own reasons and are not actually signalling that you can't [whatever]. I'll just go make myself some tea while you're doing that and by the time I come back you'll have sorted it. Also if you break a resolution God sends you sciatica. I'm kidding. Probably. Happy new year. :D
I feel bad cause in our town the town sets off fireworks at the fairgrounds…..the worst part is…the fairgrounds is super close to the shelter. It breaks my heart and wonder if people correlate that the fireworks we all love is probably scaring the crap out of the animals. I have decided to contact the shelter and see if next 4th if I can sit with a dog and try to sooth one through it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Tyler & Todd. 🎊❤🎉 Y'all are the only people that I trust and love so much with my life problems even though y'all haven't read my spill the tea yet. I'm still here for y'all no matter what. Thank you for coming into my life when I needed y'all the most. See y'all in the New Year for more videos and podcast episodes. #Thanks #TangentWithTylerAndTodd ❤💛💚💙💜
Oh Goddess I missed T&T, hope you had a great break with family & friends. Inspired to be on your 2024 journey wherever it takes us. Its always an adventurous, fun time. Feeding our soulz 😂❤
Happy 2024!!! Missed you. So I was fed up with NY resolutions. And then in 2008 someone dared me to think of a resolution and bet me 100.00 usd that I couldn’t keep it. Sooooo, don’t dare me cos I’ll do it . Since 2008 my New Year resolution has been the same, learn 1 thing a day, and guess what? IT WORKS! It is natural to learn something every day. Yep, trivia game, anyone? Put me on your team! . BTW I won the bet. Try it. It’s always nice to watch your podcast and your weekly vlogs. I love you guys and you are freakn awesome!
Build it, and they will come. I love the idea of an RV park on the land. You could also join WWOOF and have volunteers come work your organic farm for 3 months at a time.
oh my gosh, I love your chats and especially your tea time! I love how you just do a spin-off on tea time and create a scenario! Keep it going guys! Love you!
Great podcast and the time speeding up as you get older thing; you are lucky that you are realizing it at a young age! Each decade just speeds by faster than the one before. 😢
Welcome back your set up looks so nice in your new home🤸🤸 Best resolution is to love one another, and kind always to others . That can be a full-time occupation😂
Happy 2024❤ I sure did enjoy this video. I don't have any resolutions either maybe just to get a little more organized❤ y'all are something else❤ y'all sure can put a smile on my face every time see you in the next video❤😊❤
If you both like castles, go to Spain and book Paradores and rent a car. We did it a couple of years ago and it was one of the most enjoyable trips we did. On top it’s not so expensive.
The best thing I did for my personal peace and happiness was to stop watching the news! Any news! I love my bubble. Look back through the generations, there has always been the threat of doom and gloom if you choose to pay attention to it, yet here we all are, still living our lives the best way we can.
My birthday is New Year's Day - when I was little, my parents told me that the fireworks were for me. I learned that wasn't true around the same time I learned the truth about Santa (I think I was 30!! 🙂) but to this day, I kinda pretend the fireworks are for me.
Your stories are so great! I feel ya on the food poisoning - been there… done that. 6 out of 7 of us got it at work - the 7th guy probably suffered more, the waiting! 😅
I've really enjoyed this. You have summed it all up perfectly. I have grandchildren & I worked so much last year, I missed the little moments. My osteoarthritis diagnosis didn't help last August, so I'm just taking care & being with my family too. 🙏🌾🌴
Kill it with kindness is so beneficial in so many areas of life. No resolutions for me either, if something comes my way that I'd like to change or do something about, I do it then: why wait. You can look back and see what you resolved the previous year.
I watched a couple of the motel makeover shows and also went down the rabbit hole on looking for places and planning. I have similar dreams for something like that too! Enjoying tangents!
I enjoy your podcasts/videos so much. Your discussions and laughter are such a bright spot. Especially on these cold dreary days here in Kentucky in the US. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
I comment as you mention things so I don't forget😂 I too have found it best for my mental health to disconnect from news on the regular bc it gives me so much anxiety. I check in like for 10 mins once a week. I know what i can handle emotionally or not.
I'm with you on how messed on the world is. It scares the hell out of me. The world is definitely very different now that it was 30 years ago. I am so glad my kids have decided not to have them. Not a good place to grow up in. Environmental depression.
I don't make new year resolutions of sorts, instead I set attainable goals for myself to accomplish this year and most of the time I achieve them!!
No resolutions for me. No goals, has few a list of jobs I'm going to get done. Missed you guys too! Can't wait till tomorrow.
Welcome back ❤❤ hope you enjoyed your holidays and how I missed Tangets 😅😅 I don't believe in New years resolutions. I slept at like 9pm haha on New years Eve

Nope! No resolutions for me!
My last new years resolution 20 years ago was to not make anymore new years resolutions. Worked out great 😂
I love that! 😅Will copy that idea
Me too...4 years ago I stopped making them. Much happier person.❤❤❤
Happy New Year, Tyler and Todd! I'm a 79 yr. young woman living in Las Vegas, NV. You two have me laughing and smiling to the extent that my face hurts by the time you sign off. Can straight ppl go too ?
You two always make me laugh. I have a New Year’s resolution that I know I will work. Keep watching and listening to Tyler and Todd.
Too sweet, Shelley! Looking forward to all the chats we'll have in 2024!
I've missed you so much! Can't wait to see your smiling faces and hear your adorable banter!!!!!
Can't wait to catch up with you all tomorrow!!!
And the tears. I have 10 to 1 Todd breaks first. Bets will be accepted untill five minutes before the showing. 😈

My husband’s resolution every year is to not eat collard greens! He fulfills it every year! 🎉😂 Happy New Year!
I love "intentions" vs resolutions. I don't make resolutions, never have. I feel by doing that is to set myself up for disappointment. I always just try to be better or do better than I previously was.

Your tangent pod cast this week was describing life that we all go through as adults. You can always expect plans not to go as planned.
Every time I watch you, I laugh and laugh and laugh. That is such a stress reliever. Thank you for being you.

We totally agree! Really can set the tone
Keep it up!
My blood pressure just went down, down, down!!! Thank you so much…you two are so awesome!!
Amsterdam is the BEST!!
I went with my gay sister to NYC world pride day. It was so full of love and such an amazing day. We had a blast! 🌈 ❤😊
I stopped watching/listening to the news a few years ago. Best decision I ever made!!
That's why 2 years ago I quit smoking on December 1st instead of the New Year so no pressure to brake a resolution. Now proud to say I've been cigarette free.
I’m from the Midwest, Definitely not embarrassing to talk about saving money by eating leftovers ❤❤❤.
Sorry you're struggling right now, Bob. Hope it gets better soon!
I can totally relate, I have been in a funk lately too!! Hopefully we will both be able to get over it soon!! ❤
Rewatch all the old one ❤️. Xx
I love that you dream, growing old is a privilege, and time goes by super fast.
I can see a wedding venue on the land. The dome can be where they can get married. And the container home can accomidate the wedding party. All you would need is space for food prep......so many possibilities 😂😂
LOL!!! 😂 I love you guys. Thanks for all the laughs. Big hugs for you and the adorable critters. 🥂👍😎🇨🇦💞💫🐾🐾🐾🌞💘
I left my tree up for 2 years once.
I told people the first half of the year that no one wanted to take it down and then from July said I was just getting ready for Christmas very early.
I love living on the west coast so we can celebrate New Years at 9pm and not endure the rest of the evening until midnight!
My New Year resolution is to watch each video and podcast Tyler and Tod produce.
Aww thanks, appreciate this!!
A goal I can reach,
My son and I were sick over New Years. I didn't even know it until we were ripped out of our sleep by fireworks. I don't do resolutions either. I address things in the moment and it takes as long as it takes.
Oh its great to see you guys again missed you.
You really do make us all laugh and missed the banter between you. ❤
Means soo much to us, thanks Julie! ❤️
So happy you're back. It is great to have you back. Your insight, humor and depth continues to bring me joy.
Glad to be back, thanks Mary! Staying in sounds like a great NYE :)
Missed you boys! So glad you're back :)
so happy to be back, Jen! :)
AMSTERDAM,,,, MY FAVOURITE CITY IN THE WORLD. ✌✌✌✌❤❤❤❤❤❤
A treat to have you back!
Aw thanks so much Kathryn :)
So glad you’re back, I’ve been having withdrawal symptoms 😊
You two are a breath of fresh air, too funny. I totally enjoy this xoxo 😘
F YEAH!!!!!!! 🎉 So happy you guys are back! 😊
We're really looking forward to it!!! See you there!
My tree is still up too...the light adds cheer to these gloomy mid-winter days and raises my spirit! ✨️🎄✨️
Hi, I live in PEI and my husband and I travel in the winter with our 2 cats and a dog in a Class C, so much fun . Highly recommend. Come to PEI in September, still so beautiful, and the weather is usually great .
Another great podcast! So glad you're back, missed you ❤❤
The tradition of using fireworks to celebrate the New Year has ancient roots.
That response is from ChatGPT
I live in a small community with fireworks on NY eve and NY day until 1 am. I have a small nervous dog and the sounds make him manic.
My New Year's resolution is to laugh every time I see you guys! And that is one I can and will keep! You are both hilarious!😂❤
Happy new year guys, I have missed seeing you ☺️
No to resolutions
But my thing from now on will be a mantra of
Let it go!
Oh Goddess I missed T&T, hope you had a great break with family & friends. Inspired to be on your 2024 journey wherever it takes us.
Its always an adventurous, fun time.
Feeding our soulz 😂❤
With all of your experience, you should build it out yourself ! You can put what you want in it and the size of the bus ! 😊
Love you!
As someone who grew up in Halifax, it’s always so fun hearing you guys talk about Halifax! 😅 Maybe I’ll be home sometime and bump into you downtown!
Great podcast and the time speeding up as you get older thing; you are lucky that you are realizing it at a young age! Each decade just speeds by faster than the one before. 😢
So great to see your laughing faces!! Love the sweater Todd! I’m looking forward to new adventures with you and lots more laughter! Hugs! ❤
That means a lot to us, thanks so much Patricia! ❤️
I love your teatime! You guy’s stories are hilarious! 😂
Have a wonderful New Year! Love ya guys. Thank you for the content.
Welcome back your set up looks so nice in your new home🤸🤸
Best resolution is to love one another, and kind always to others .
It's Tyler and Todd and most importantly, EDDIE!
looking forward to seeing you both again. I hope you’re relaxed and had a wonderful holiday.
Love that mindset!
Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
aw thank you so much! thanks for coming along with us :)
