Bro, I love your channel! Thanks for sharing! I just purchased a new M2 MacBook Air about a month ago and I was scared I made the wrong choice, but your videos have shown the potential this machine has
This is the laptop I'm planning on getting for spring semester, to get me used to another OS and have a designated school/work laptop so I don't start stressing when using my gaming laptop for relaxing. Knowing the small SSD amount becomes a problem from many reviews, it enforces my plan to get much more storage space and also more RAM. From the sound of this review and others, it sounds like it'll be the best laptop for my current goals. Great content like always!
I know what you feel, I also can't chill and work on the same machine, that's why I bought this laptop. I want it for my CS college or work, and my PC to just chill and play some games without stress!
If you’re gonna upgrade both RAM and storage you should look into the base 14” M2 MacBook Pro as well, as you’ll be nearing that price. I ended up getting a MacBook Air M2 with 16GB/256GB bc I already have a PC and I’ll only use the laptop for studying (Computer Science) purposes so I don’t need a lot of storage
And also bc Apple storage upgrades are such a scam - you can buy a tiny external 1TB NVMe for a quarter of the price. But if you truly need that much storage for work, I could see it getting annoying to lug around with you
@@essayedgar I already bought the M2 Air, 16GB RAM, upgraded to 1TB of storage. Same for going to school for Comp Science, and I also have a Windows gaming laptop already too. I was able to turn the Mac into a dedicated school/work computer, so I can do any networking or programming stuff in my free time without having to worry about needing an external SSD. And the reason I didn't get the 14 inch Mac is because the price was higher than I was wanting to pay at base level, whereas the Air upgraded was cheaper

I appreciate the nuanced take here. Now that university subreddits are filled with "what laptop for computer science?" type questions again, this really goes to show that the right tool for the job heavily depends on what kind of coding you're doing, ranging from being totally cool with a 10 year old MacBook Pro for your first few C/C++/Java/Python kind of courses, to needing a beefy Nvidia GPU with Cuda cores to train ML models, or anything in between. Though, I can't help but shake the feeling that if you aren't super sure about how your needs may evolve, the base 14" could be the safer bet...?

that battery life performance was just when running flutter tho, overall the issues with flutter that he talked about seems to be a software issue with flutter itself and some issues with how it runs on apple silicon in general. my M2 MBAs battery is a huge step up over the m1 MBA battery which is weird because most TH-camrs rlly never spent a lot of time talking about battery life improvements maybe because battery life tends to vary from user to user when it comes to MacBooks compared to iPhones.

Great one! Do you miss the MacBook Pro Touch bar? How's the M2 Air today, still using it? You do pure coding or use some photo and video editor app's as well? I'm looking forward for M3. I do coding as well + little photo and video side. I'm wondering about the heat, since there is no fan inside. Is it something to "worry about" in long term? I believe M3 handles it even better. Currently thinking.. should I Go M3 Air or Pro. As well depends how many ports they give. (At the moment I have MacBook Pro 2018 i5 8gb Touch - can do all things needed, working good - I'm wearing off the command button myself)

Awesome review. Thanks alot!
Awesome video! Subbed and Liked, good stuff. I do a lot of fullstack development so I'm jumping around between angular, C#, sql and thus ended up buying a surface laptop 5 because my work issued MacBook pro 13.4" from 2022 was a bit uncomfortable for windows development even with visual studio on mac - just wasn't feeling it... But I'm the undecisive type and I'm having seconds thoughts lol may drive up to bbuy to test out MacBook air 15....
The mat on your table might be preventing your laptop from dissipating heat properly.
Fantastic review!
Great high effort review!
Great review! I am considering the 8gb M2 air for development. battery life and portability are the main selling points. I have a maxed out super micro server with dual Tesla GPUs for all of my heavy lifting and gaming. I cannot see myself ever pushing the lower end model to it's limits with this setup. The M2 is basically just a smart terminal at this point :D
If you want to buy the 8gb, don't. Save your money and buy the 24gb ram with 1TB of ssd storage.
@@MazIsProgramming wow its not like that is + 1000 dollars, some people give advice like money isnt any issue at all
@@nymtes do whatever you want, I'm currently using 8gb of ram as a cs student, and there's times when I need more. Don't take things so personally, it's just internet advice.
@@MazIsProgramming And it's a stupid advice, there is no need for 24gb of ram and 1tb of storage for almost anyone
@@danieldev514 Ok Dan to each their own, I like my 64gb ram machine, but wish I could have more internal ssd memory.
Thanks a lot for sharing your dev experience with M2 Air. too bad Flutter is still not that great on Apple silicon. I am more convinced now that M1 Pro or the upcoming M2 Pro is a better machine for my dev and ML workflow.
How can you be convinced that a machine that hasn’t even come out yet is better for your workflow? Ridiculous
@@avkrmits kind of common sense isn't it.
muy buen video amigo! se nota el trabajo y dedicación que le das! (estoy mas seguro de querer la pro 14' :D )
definitely need to get 16GB RAM at least. the more RAM the less the HD slowdown matters due to the swap file.
My 4 year old i5 8th gen does everything you did in the video, I just upgraded the ram to 16gb and ssd to 512. Running on Ubuntu.
with your proficiency at describing, i can see you creating a new channel to teach people in other domains(Machine learning, Coding).
It would be nice to have your perspective on that.
Hey Andres! Hope you are doing well) what's your vscode theme? I'm a big fan of orange 😂
Yo that intro tripped me out 😂 shit was awesome
Hey man 👋. Excellent review. Better than those benchmarks. I am a iOS developer myself want to purchase a laptop, a little tight on budget, can you recommend me what should i go for?
Just love it..
just fucking love it..
m2 with 16GB | 256ROM + External SSD (Students ID) Around 1Lakh Worth It❤ I'm gonna buy this:)
SERIOUSLY AFTER SPENDING 48hrs` continuous Research I'm giving suggestion!
Better then buying Windows
for at least 6-8years❤
Which product did you buy? What did you use it to do? And are you satisfied? What were the downsides?
What Technologies will you prefer for becoming a full stack Web Developer. Describe briefly from starting through through Frontend to Backend.
What is the Vscode theme, that is beautiful
would you recommend me this laptop over a Chromebook for web development, music, browsing web with 10 tabs and some python????
Lovely content
(At the moment I have MacBook Pro 2018 i5 8gb Touch - can do all things needed, working good - I'm wearing off the command button myself)
combine this with Project IDX and you have the best setup for programming
