    That is really cool. I like it. I can't wait to see some video of you working the tractor now! Have a great weekend and you did a heck of a job with the seat!!

    I like that seat. I always found the rotation of the stock seat to be a pain. Oh, and I just subscribed. Thanks!

    Love the setup!!! Would be very interested in this. Just bought a GC1723EB and yes the seat is still a pain in the ass!

    That Is pretty slick with the seat upgrade. I want to swap mine on my 1739E so I have arm rests and a higher back support. Take care

    What's the part # on the seat you got from Amazon

      I dunno if Amazon still carries it, but it was Northern Tool, model# 355000BK.

    I've been riding my 1710 for roughly 7 hrs now, and came across this video. I'm liking the functionality. My questions are; is the ride any better? How's your lower back?
    Right now mine feels like a forklift without the backhoe and real Jerky on my back. Lol the older you get, so here I am looking for some upgrades to comfort

      Oh yeh for sure, big improvement. That wobble and bouncing around on that stock seat was what got me the most...back would hurt after a while, all that, I hear ya! Divorce that damn seat, Z! :))

    Hey, thanks for this suggestion, my husband is going to do this for me. I looked for the write up on the link you gave, but didn’t find it. Any chance you could send a link and also a link to the seat you used to replace it with. I use the back hoe a lot and this would be a game changer for me.

      Hey Natalie what's up! Here's the link to the post on tractorbynet: www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/that-wobbly-uncomfortable-rotating-tractor-loader-backhoe-seat-hate-it.416422/ Page 3, posts #25 lists everything you're inquiring about. I was using the backhoe just the other day, loving that seat mod yet again haha!

      Also, post #213 on here: www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/what-have-you-done-with-to-your-gc-series-2300-2400-1700-tractor-today.419677/page-22#post-5699080 That's how I modified the seat safety switch bracket, so that the cut-off switch can work with the new seat if you want it to (when mowing and stuff).

      Thanks so much! My husband is a machinist and has a cnc machine, and says he’ll do it for me. I wanted to get as much info as I could to make it easier for him. I haven’t looked at the info yet but I’m wondering does it specify the seat that you bought? I looked on Amazon and saw several but not sure how to tell which one would work.

      @@nataliemills6644 Awesome, please let me know how it works out for ya, Natalie! Make some vids! A few years ago, I would have been surprised there's a female into tractors and backhoes and stuff. But now, so many women out there welding/fabricating, turning wrenches etc, as well as totally owning it in combat sports...only a dinosaur would be shocked by stuff like that. Keep on truckin, Natalie!

    Well that is slick. Can you still see in the hole ok on that rear seat?
    I have a 1725 and the seat is a pin at times.

    • @pondacres

      No problems at all with the visibility. Coz you're sitting on the seat back, it puts you higher up on the seat.

    That is a great idea, I've been thinking about doing this ever since I got mine (GC1710 TLB) The seat is just ridiculously high, have you measured the difference in height? If not, can I ask you to take 2 measurements please? With the swivel still on mine, I measure 21" from the top of the black rubber mat to the top of the front part of the seat. And when it's reversed, I measured 13.5" from the top of the red fiberglass (with the yellow warning stickers) to the top of the front part of the seat. Greatly appreciated!

      How are the arm rests? Do they get in the way for reaching the levers? Do you use them at all? I have the impression that to use them, you would have to move the seat so forward that your knees would bump in the steering wheel, again thanks!

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh no problem, I just finished plowing, so I'm out here with the tractor now. From floorboard to front of seat is around 18.5". And facing the backhoe, seatback down (that's what I sit on, back of seatback), around 10.5" from top of fender. So basically it's around 3" lower than stock seat, facing front or back. The arm rests are great, use them all the time. Actually you kind of need them even for when working the hoe, because they rise up above the seatback and help keep your butt from sliding off it. They don't get in the way of the controls up front, but depending on how wide you are, you may have to raise one up when getting on/off the tractor.

      @@pondacres thanks for the information and the quick reply!
      3" lower is great and probably worth investing time and money in this project.
      I'm 5'-9" and I have to sit on the edge of the seat to get the pedals all the way down...

      I hear ya! Yeh, I don't miss the stock seat at all, totally happy with my current setup.

    Oh yes, that is something that is real handy. I'll check out the modifications you did and the cannibalization required to make this seat fit properly. Did you install the engine shut-off mechanism, as well? I just viewed the 'tractorbynet' link and there were a lot of good suggestions and I even looked at Limeylew's answer to Massey's high wobbly seat set-up. He welded in a 2nd seat. I'd prefer not to mess with the ROPS but his fabrication does present an option. It appears he changed the original Massey seat as well. Thanks for this video. 👍

      Hi Houndsman, I had the safety switch disabled on the old seat. On the new seat, the bracket holding that switch got in the way, so I took the switch off and bent the bracket out of the way. I don't mow with this tractor (currently at least), but if I did I'd reinstall the switch with a different bracket. I see no other benefit to this safety switch beyond shutting down the pto.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pondacres Yep, I see what you mean. I bought a GC specifically for mowing since I have so much vegetation. My drive way with grass (ha, more like weeds) is 1/2 mile long and around the house adds more to be cut so that's why I got the GC. I didn't want any more gas mowers since I've had several commercial-grade. The GC meets the task. I like your videos, Gene. Keep them coming.

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh, you want that safety active if you're mowing, tilling, whatnot...especially with these tippy machines. Don't wanna be loosing bits and pieces of yourself if you fall off!

      @@Ricky1Feather , it has worked out great for me. I initially debated adding a cushion on the seat back, but I've put in some hours on the backhoe with seat as is and it was totally fine. I would never switch this back to the rotating seat!
