    Interesting. I'm a 1.0 owner since it's first year and I love that no matter what pedal Assist level, my throttle will go all the way when needed. So they changed that??? Hmmm. I'm ready to buy again. Maybe wait for the 4.0...

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh, even the XP 2.0 was like yours originally, and then they rolled up a free "upgrade" for those bikes, what they call PWR programming, which I think was meant to mimic torque-based pedal assist. Consequence of that is the throttle speed is now tied to PAS settings. Evidently, enough people complained about that, which is why the Lite 2.0 doesn't have that...and I suspect the XP 4.0 won't either.

  • @danc3746
    @danc3746 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I cant thank you enough for this video. I have been going back and forth with Lt 2.0 vs XP 3.0 and have asked all these questions and never really got a straight answer until now. I was wondering if I was going to miss not having gears and you explained that very well, same with the front suspension, I don't think I will. However, the HUGE one for me and again I never get a straight answer from other vids or groups, if I am riding in PA2 and needed some extra throttle for any reason, will it be available?...and it looks like the answer is yes by setting P22 to 1? With that setting I am also assuming I could be in PA1 and control my own pedal assist with the throttle? Thanks!

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Danc yes, P22 set to 1 or 2 will give you full throttle regardless of the PAS level you're on (other than 0). For pedaling with pedal assist, P22 set to 2 just dumps full amps at each PAS level (lame riding experience), whereas P22 at 1 has pedal assist "trying" to mimic a torque sensor (it kinda sorta succeeds with that). I must say that whether it's the XP or the Lite, disabling pedal assist and just use throttle assistance is the only way I could get either bike to feel like I'm pedaling with purpose, regardless of speed. My wife agrees, that's how she's riding the Lite now, too. As for whether you need gears or not, depends on your weight and level of fitness. I posted on Reddit that gears on an e-bike are a marketing gimmick, but then was reminded by somebody that some people weight 200 lbs + and/or carry a ton of gear on their bike. And/or, are seriously out of shape and just want to pedal w/o any effort. For those people yeh, lower gearing for hills definitely helps. Me, I'm like 140 lbs, fairly fit, and personally find lower gears on the XP redundant, when the motor is there to help up a hill while I pedal a little harder....and that's all it is, just a little more pedaling effort. I actually ditched the gears on my XP 3, tore all that out and put a 12-tooth cog on the back. Thx for your comment Dan, I'm really glad my vid reached somebody needing this info!

      @@pondacres My plan was to use the bike as a pedal bike but because of the one gear, using the throttle as needed, manually. That's what makes the most sense to me and sounds like this can be achieved with setting P22-1.

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danc3746 Oh yeh man, if you're only going to be using throttle, P22 set to either 1 or 2 doesn't matter, either case it will be full throttle in any PAS level. P22 set to 0 has some uses too though, it limits throttle power to whatever PAS setting you're in...handy if you want to conserve your battery, for instance. Also, the throttle on these bikes is not very refined (I compare it to a really crappy trigger on a pistol), so limiting amp draw with pas levels allows more control.

    • @BobLewen
      @BobLewen หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep in mind, the XP Lite 2.0 only weighs 49 lbs, vs 64 lbs for the XP3.0, so folding and lifting into the car should be considered, Also, I have the JW Black belt drive addition, and I weigh 195, and with “factory settings” (your mention of p11 and p22), and riding on flat/level ground, I can feel tension in my legs when you peddle in PA1, which gives you 9mph max regardless of using the peddles or the throttle. When I switch to PA2, you lose any tension in your thighs, because ghost peddling kicks in, and the speed will top out at 15mph with or without use of the throttle. On inclines in PA2 and above, you will once again feel tension in your legs when peddling. On level ground though, If you want to ride at 20mph, hit the + button and up the PA levels and “feather” the throttle to what ever speed works for you. Although settings can be changed, the single speed hub in the XP Lite 2.0 is unlike any other, and the “factory” settings are the most effective and efficient for both ride quality, longevity, and battery efficiency. Just another man’s opinion!

It's all about the perfect bike ride for me, I want to feel the pedals but not work too hard at it...get home from a 25 mile ride and not feel exhausted, but still feel like I rode a bike. I found the best way to do that is with throttle, you could fine-tune the assistance, whereas pedal assist gives either too much assistance or not enough.

      Right on! Yeh you'll be happy, either one is a great bike. I hear ya on higher top speed though, and there's some other things the XP has going for it over the LIte. But having ridden both for a while now, I'll say I much prefer the single gear on the Lite. IMO, I'm only 140 pounds or so, and shifting to lower gear on hills or whatnot just convolutes the ride experience, when you could just give it some throttle or increase PAS levels. I actually got rid of the gears, converted it to a single-speed with a 12t freewheel, so you could say I built me a Lite 3.0 ha! I'm really lovin this bike now.

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Phillie41510 Hey Phillie, no, whether throttle or pedal assist, the Lite's motor will only do 20 mph top speed...any faster would require you to out-pedal the motor and/or be riding downhill. But the XP3's throttle will also only do 20 mph max, you could only get the class 3 speed out of it with pedal assist. Just be aware that going that fast means you're in the higher pedal assist levels, meaning you're draining your battery pretty quick. Even Lectric's long range battery is 14 AH...you'd be lucky to get an hour ride time out of it cruising around PAS 4 or 5. If you're really wanting to haul ass, you could look into building your own ebike with a kit, it seems pretty easy. Find a comfy donor bike if you don't already have one, and stick a Voilamart e-bike conversion kit on it, with a bigger battery....it will run you like $500 (not including the bike). I'm now thinking about setting hers up this way; she's not a bike fan, but she's into new things . . . a bit intimidated though. And I could see her freaking out at PAS 3 and peddle around a corner after coming off the brake. No bueno. Any more watts/per/hour savings in this mode? I'm guessing a 30 mile range in and around Nashville (hills) with the 14 battery. Think P10 at "0" would get closer to 45? Good job👍

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh, tight turns with pedal assist activated can get interesting! Honestly, you're better off using throttle in turns, or when getting going from a stop, and also while maneuvering around people/obstacles while riding slowly. It's just so much easier and safer giving a little throttle in those cases, as opposed to pedaling. Regarding the P10 setting (I think you mean 1, right?), you might get close to that, but depends on your weight and how you ride. I average around 20 mile rides, some of that hilly, and I normally get home with around 47-48v left in the tank...so basically slightly less than half full battery. But I weigh around 140 lbs, and I'm always monitoring how many amps I'm using while hitting the throttle. I'm happy when I'm seeing a draw of <4 amps, but sometimes you need a whole lot more to get up bigger hills with this heavy bike.

      @@pondacres I just got my 3.0 on the 28th and the pedal assist almost made me run into shit when going slower and trying to pedal. It would take off on me. PAS kind of sucks IMO. @@BornN2Grave1 Oh yeh man for sure...especially turning with the pedal assist active, that gets "exciting" real quick if you forget yourself and give it a little pedal to speed up the turn, and that thing just takes off on you. I bet that's how a lot of people crash these e-bikes. Another thing about this bike, the throttle is tied to whatever PAS you're in, meaning if you're in PAS is at 2, the throttle will only do for you what PAS 2 would do for you while pedaling. So you're pedaling at PAS 2, here comes a hill or you need to pick up speed quick, throttle won't do anything for you w/o first raising PAS levels...in other words, what's the fuckin point of using the throttle here? See, the XP lite is different in that regard, the throttle is independent of PAS levels.

      Upside for Bradley's OCDC is that it's cheaper (check SLE Equipment prices too). Theirs is alright, but I heard people had some problems with it. I think Sean from Kings Courtyard Lawncare has some issue, like it not fully closing or something. My other particular thing was that Bradley's OCDC added width to the deck, which I can't have coz of my shed door width. But all them OCDCs are kinda pricey, even EZchute is like $300, and that thing kinda sux imho. Whereas the Grassflap is pretty sweet, I gotta say!

    • @pondacres
      @pondacres ปีที่แล้ว

      Whats up, yeh I dunno what they're priced now, but when I got mine from SLE Equipment, the 48" was hella cheaper! Actually I think SLE made a pricing error with that 48" at the time, but hey win for me. I got 2 years now with this bad boy, it's been awesome aside for an initial issue fixed via warranty. Controls work great, it's responsive, comfortable platform, etc, it's fun to use...no complaints at all. As for 48" vs 52", the one main downside with the 48" is the shorter deck won't let you get way close when mowing tight circles around mulching beds and stuff, so you're having to go hit all that with the string trimmer afterwards. No biggie for me, but if you're earning a paycheck with this mower, it's something to consider. On the other hand, if you got a lot of uneven terrain, a 52" will scalp more than a 48" would. And then obviously, a 48" fits in more places.

    • @pondacres

      That is a fantastic question. In the case of my grass catcher, the answer is no, boo! One of the pivots for the flap gets in the way of one of the hooks on the catcher. The good news is that I didn't have to fully remove it...I just removed the front screws, loosened the back ones, and tilted the grassflap back so that it clears that catcher's hook.
