i lived in a moldy house that was causing me serious illness. I had an air doctor and other 1k plus air purifiers. None of them did a thing for that situation. I had to move out and it took me about a yr to recover. the best bet, move asap!
I do with all air cleaners were available in other colors other than white. Some of us would like them to blend into the background of the room and not stick out.
Odor removal is solid, notably better than average. It includes a sizable carbon filter. AirDoctor has a dedicated and large carbon filter compared to Mila, which is integrated into a single filter. I don't believe either brand specifies the exact amount of carbon, but given the size it stands to reason that AirDoctor has more carbon and therefore will be more effective at removing odors.
I've never understood why air purifier companies put the carbon filter before the HEPA bc wouldn't the activated charcoal cover in dust making it ineffective?
My understanding is they position it that way as it is possible for small bits of carbon to come out of the carbon filter. Having the HEPA filter behind carbon ensures those bits of carbon are captured and don't circle into your air.
@@xocheenahox A MERV rating, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, is a measurement system that indicates how well an air filter removes airborne particles and pollutants. In short, higher MERV = better air purifier
@@ModernCastle I see thank you. So the higher the number the better? And what is a CADR # I think it’s abbreviated that way. Thank you for your response!
We haven't tested Honeywell, so I don't have any strong views there. As far as AirDoctor vs. Shark, it really depends on the model. All of the AirDoctors are incredibly high performance...compared to the Shark 3-in-1 Max and Shark NeverChange, it's very close. Compared to the regular Shark 3-in-1, it's less close. It just wasn't all that impressive in terms of purification performance.
@@ModernCastleJaspr is very pricey, is it truly the best? I have asthma and our new apartment is musty. My income sucks. Is there anything less expensive than this one should I just get this? In case there’s mold or toxins in my old apartment? Tia

Looks like it was replaced with the 3500. AirDoctor did a similar thing with the 5000 to 5500. The 5500 is the exact same purifier as the 5000, just with a patented filter so 3rd parties aren't allowed to make filters for it. My guess is they are doing the exact same thing with the 3000 to 3500 upgrade model.

Why do air purifier companies put the carbon filter before the HEPA filter when the carbon filter can easily be covered in fine dust?
Hi, any thoughts on mold smell removal? Would it help with strong smell of moisture in the air?
It will definitely help.
Any high performance air purifier with a carbon filter is going to have a sizable impact on any odors.

@ModernCastle How does this do for odor removal? And how does it compare to Mila for this?

Do you know their MERV rating? The website states the HVAC filter merv rating but I’m not sure if they are the same as the units?
Their HVAC filters are MERV 14
Their air purifier filters are MERV 13

Yes
