      How are extremely high performance and made our best air purifiers 2023 list.

      It's impossible to go wrong with either.
      I personally lean a little more towards AirDoctor as it's just a simpler design, especially in terms of filters. Simplicity generally equates better longevity.

    I just got the AirDoctor 1000 and the fan is making an annoying clicking sound (vs a humming white-noise sound). The clicking is more noticeable at lower fan speeds. I couldn't find any information on Air Doctor's support page. Would you happen to know why this is happening? Thanks!

    I just purchased the AirDoctor 3000 due to the very poor air quality (in Michigan) from the canadian wild fires. The light stayed blue regardless if the machine was in the house or even OUTSIDE! The light would change to orange for maybe 2 seconds and went right back to blue. And, thats even with the outdoor allergens! Should I return it? It seems like there's something definitely wrong with it.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's possible it's defective, it's also possible that your air quality isn't all that bad (relative to how those sensors are tuned).
      Where in Michigan are you located?
      I did a quick Google search for air quality in Michigan and only 4 of 21 major cities were in a "moderate" air quality. All others are in "good" air quality
      www.google.com/search?q=michigan+air+quality&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS894US894&oq=michigan+air+quality&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTINCAEQABiDARixAxiABDINCAIQABiDARixAxiABDINCAMQABiDARixAxiABDINCAQQABiDARixAxiABDINCAUQABiDARixAxiABDINCAYQABiDARixAxiABDINCAcQLhivARjHARiABDIHCAgQABiABDIHCAkQABiABNIBCDI2NDdqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

      @@ModernCastle Thanks for your reply! According to the Weather Channel radar, my area was considered "unhealthy", (orange color area...you could see the smog, it was thick! Google is wrong!) and we were advised to stay indoors. That's the reason I purchased it. Plus, you would think the outdoor allergens alone would cause the fan to speed up and the indicator light to change color. (I had it set on automatic) So far I'm pretty disappointed.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ChiChi-rr9um Outdoor air alone doesn't always going to cause it to increase speed (during many months of the the year my indoor and outdoor quality essentially the same in Arizona), but if you're in the unhealthy air category and it's not kicking up while outside then that is a problem. Sounds like it's a defective sensor.
      You could return / exchange for a sensor that works or just leave it on high all the time. If you're air is that bad then that's what I would be doing.
      Across virtually all brands I've tested the air quality sensor is almost always the most finicky piece of hardware.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      IWave is an ionization system, when in general, I don't trust as many create harmful levels of ozone.
      In particular, I would never trust an HVAC company regarding the safety or performance of those types of systems. Just 2 years ago I had an HVAC company try to sell me an ionizer system like iWave...I mentioned the ozone which he assured me "was actually beneficial! It creates that great "fresh" smell". @debfryer2437 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModernCastle I’m new to the concept of EMFs and 5G towers. I’m suffering from mercury poisoning due to amalgam fillings. Just had them all removed by a biological dentist and am now suffering with the serious effects of detoxing. I was told by a naturopath to buy this filter as it would reduce EMFs. I thought filters removed only dust and allergens from plant and pets. I also learned that people with amalgam fillings are highly susceptible to EMFs, radiation and allergens of every kind.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@debfryer2437 I don't know of any air purifier filter that would be capable of reducing EMF. The whole idea just makes no sense.
      An EMF field is generated by all electrical devices. A paper HEPA and carbon filter is incapable of interacting with that field in any meaningful way.
      The only way to reduce the EMF generated by said electrical device would be to turn it off. Outside of that, putting distance between yourself and the electrical objective. Outside of that, some type of faraday cage.

    For 2000 model, the particles reduction was 82% while for the other models it was higher. Yet PM 2.5 and 10 were at 0.1. For the 3000 model, the particles reduction count was better but PM10 was 0.2, if i need to decide between the two , which results are better?

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Results are identical between those models.
      I would disregard the percent reduction. The percentage is higher due to the baseline air quality being worse for that test. It's hard to get our baseline exactly the same from test to test, so you can see some variance in the percentage reduction.
      After we published this video we made the decision to stop including percentage reduction because it gives a false impressive of performance (or lack there of) and it's basis has more to do with baseline air quality than it does actual machine performance.
      Sorry for the confusion.

    I was just going through the motions with this videos, but once I started to pay attention I couldn’t help but notice how skewed this results are and your math is off, especially when we are talking efficiency that it’s measured in fractions of a percentage like 97.2% and it’s almost 97.5, 97.47474747 to be precise, additionally running two units for the same time with different starting numbers means you can have an inferior unit with higher starting PM count and finish with the same amount and the superior model making the inferior will show a higher percentage value, you’re not even verifying if the superior unit reached 0.1 in a 1/10 of the time, since 0.1 is as low as it’s gonna go, all of the baselines for the 3000 model are higher making it seem as the most efficient in the post test some of the baseline are more than 2x of the other models terrible example, A+ for effort 😂

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd suggest just ignoring those percentages for particulate removals.
      This is the last video / contextual review we included them on. As you noted, the difference in baselines make the percentage removed ratings worthless when trying to compare to other units.
      For these reasons, we are only including the absolute PM2.5 / PM10 achieved in all future tests.
