I got a GA100 at a thrift store, replaced the battery and it wouldn't beep. Bent up the prong, flipped the spring over, cleaned the back of the case and she beeps again!! Thank you!
GA-100 wasnt sounding after battery change. Bent metal tab up (at 6 o'clock position on this model) but still no sound. Pulled the original spring out with tweezers, then re-seated it. Also wiped the speaker-side of the back cover with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Now alarm and hourly signal are working again! Worth noting that the original spring has a tiny piece of the bottom coil sticking out ('tail'). There is a corresponding notch in the watch where the spring drops in. I set the spring in, aligning the spring 'tail' with the notch, then gently rotated the spring counter-clockwise with tweezers about 15°. It seems that the 'tail' is there to hold the spring in its hole when back cover is off, so it doesnt just fall out.
Thanks for mentioning bending the metal tab up. I just tried that on my Casio CA53W that wasn't ringing after I changed the battery again. First time I'd lost the spring but replaced it and it worked then. This time I must have bent that tab down (I was thinking it might reset the clock but I learned you need to use tweezers and a little hole and the back of the battery to do that on this watch (PITA!)) and now it's fine after bending it up.
Thanks sm dude, my watch ran out of battery and when we changed it the sound stopped, i was gonna leave it be but ur video rly got the sound back hahaha
Absolutely brilliant. My ga100 was not alarming after I had the battery changed. I just fixed it by watching this. I used the spring from a watch pin also but luckily I only had to cut the sping. Thank you.
Thank you so much! You really saved me a lot of trouble and I truly appreciate it. I found two springs in my lighter one long and one short. The short one fitted just right without having to make the hole bigger.
Hi i done the battery change by myself since it cost one kidney to bring it to the workshop. ofc no sound after the battery change but you was helping me ! big thanks !!
Thanks for your video my good sir. My battery was bad and had no beep. I replaced the battery and noticed a small spring. Watched your video and reinstalled spring.

I just bought a mint condition Casio DW-6100 on eBay and there was no sound. The seller said he put in a new battery and that he must of lost the spring. He credited my PayPal account $25 dollars because of this issue. Now thanks to you I can fix it. Thanks !!!!!!
Benedict Raistrick it could be the metal flap on the side. Make sure it’s sticking out just enough to make the contact. I had to reposition mine. Also OP great and informative video!!!
When I went to remove the back it turns out the seller put too big of a battery in there and as I'm unscrewing the back the whole LCD shatters Nearly cried cuz there's no relaxing that watch....😢
Thank you thank you thank you :)))))) You might have posted your video 5 years ago but you gave my trusty old DW-5600 new sound.

My watch, the spring still there and the metal still stick out but no sound
For GX56BB owner, you don't need a spring. I'm am the one looking for more than an hour only realise it doesn't come with a spring.
Thx mate, appreciate it!!!
Thanks heaps!
Despite having the spring and cleaning the contacts, the sound still doesn’t work.
same , i changed the spring and clean the back case still doesn't fix the issue
Mine has the spring still but there is no sound when I replaced the battery. Are they not contacting?
Benedict Raistrick it could be the metal flap on the side. Make sure it’s sticking out just enough to make the contact. I had to reposition mine. Also OP great and informative video!!!
Mine with the spring still intact, however it just won't beep after battery replacement 😭 Anyone know solution?
