- Welcome to the Pier City Cycles Tutorial Series. In these videos, we hope to show you a range of jobs or mods that you can carry out on your BMW R9T or R18. We hope to cover those simple jobs which new owners might not feel confident in asking, all the way through to the signature mods we use to transform our builds.
In this video we have taken a slightly different tact to our usual Tutorials and, instead, have produced a bit of an 'explainer' for the BMW R9T servicing schedule. The service schedule can be a bit of a minefield to try and work your way through at first look, so we've tried to break it down into a concise, easy to follow video.
BASIC SERVICE BREAKDOWN;
Annually - Engine Oil & Filter, basic service checks (look for leaks, reset service light, check functionality of buttons and lights etc.)
1st/3rd/5th (etc.) Year Annual - Gearbox Oil, Brake Fluid
2nd/4th/6th (etc.) Year Annual - Final Drive Oil
6k Service Items - Throttle Balance, Valve Clearances
12k Service Items - Throttle Balance, Valve Clearances, Spark Plugs, Air Filter
18k Service Items - Throttle Balance, Valve Clearances, Fork Oil
24k Service Items - Throttle Balance, Valve Clearances, Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Alternator Belt
(and repeat...)

Great info guys, an in depth tutorial on how to sync the throttle bodies would be amazing ❤️
Hello, will you ever make a tutorial on how to synchronize the throttle bodies?
Exactly really would be useful to see a vid on syncing the throttle bodies
Thanks mate, will must show this video to Mottorad Dublin.
Thanks so much for your expertise! I enjoy gaining extra insight into what is expected when I hand over the keys .....
Great video! Thank you!
Can you guys do a video installing the rapid bike evo. Thanks
Some great information there. Thank you 🙏🏼
Great content🙏
If anyone tires to service the bike ourselves, how to reset the service clock without a GS911? Or you need to run it to someone who is prepared to do that for you?
Service light can only be reset electronically. Grab yourself the MotoScan app and a Bluetooth OBD tool.
Hope this helped and thank you for watching.
Any reason why my dealership replaced the plugs at 2000 miles? Don't trust what they did at all. Over-filled the engine oil. Didn't look fresh when I dropped the excess. I've just got no faith in them.
Great video, problem is where do you go when your local scum bag BMW dealership are complete Tossers and just won’t to rip you off…….
Do all the servicing yourself 😉

Fluids and oils should be considered for replacement also based on time and not just mileage. Oils degrade over time and whether you clocked 1K or 10K in a year ideally you should replace the fluids anyway. Well, I mean if you really care about your bike. The intervals are typically 1-2 years for most fluids. Check your user manual as manufacturers usually provide this information. Other than that, great video! We need a throttle bodies sync video tutorial now, please :)
Oil change every year? Nonsense.
Frankly, lets' all save money in labor $$$ by changing our own oil/fluids Cause quite honestly, you can train a Chimp to change oil on your Bike or car.
Yes, some things you need to take to the dealer or independent shop, but oil and fluid changes, c'mon folks, get a little dirty, take your dresses off and do it yourselves.
True enough once it's out of warranty.

Even while in Warranty, you won’t lose the warranty by changing your own oil, Unless you put in 1 quart instead of 4 Quarts. 🙄
Can anyone translate to American English ?
Ye ha shoot the dam thing and shove a burger in the tank
