Manipur with a population of 28 lakhs still produces 20 Arjuna awardee and 3 khel Ratna award and was top of medal 🏅 tally of National games from 1998-2011 . Manipur has more than 100s of indigenous games . Local clubs organise 5 day sporting event during holi .

So POLO originated from Manipur . There are many indigenous games in Manipur . It's in their blood . They are worrior caste . So they are fit

This club members are all volunteers, regardless of the case whether it is sports, community services, they volunteer like in this pandemic situation, the vaccination program/covid test/supplying of rations/covid care centre, etc. Community clubs take a huge responsibility in these things, if there r 2/3 good players from a community who are poor and doesn't get the equipments to practice, these clubs will supply them with practice equipments which they can afford. Here in Manipur you can find at least one sports field in like every community.

MANIPUR especially the meitei community always fought war with the neighbouring kingdom be it Tripura, Burma etc . So they need to keep their body fit even during peace time . So POLO originated from Manipur . There are many indigenous games in Manipur . It's in their blood . They are worrior caste . So they are fit
You are right bhai

True. There was even a system that every men should compulsorily serve as soldiers.
Another reason is equal treatment for women and not like typical indian orthodox families ke hamari aurate bahar nhi jati khelne / chote kapde nhi pehenti / mardo wale kaam nhi karti ,.. all those baseless comments
Even NO dowry system in Manipur

Manipuri culture especially the Hindus basically the same as the rest of Indian Hindu culture. Just it has a good climate that's why it's ideal for sports.
Mardo wale kaam matlab building banana aur bhaari wajan utana sewer saaf karna .
Manipur can and will produce world class badminton players in the future. We have lot of enthusiasm and with enough support we will produce the next Lin Dan.
About sporting culture : Many people don't know this but International polo was invented in Manipur.
Wow...Mohak...this video gives a whole new meaning to the expression.."there is more to it than what meets the eye"
The north east people are most humble and respectful thanks any other states in our country and their community service also makes them a prime example of how communities should behave...not only within their oun culture but with others too... 🙏
Manipur was supposed to get a sports university. I don't know if it has started or not. Govt of India must consider about setting up 3 more sports university in North East zone.
Still under construction
Curriculum has started already in 2018, infrastructure is yet to complete
Because of some refugees from Myanmar they are still in delay

You people are inspiration for all states of India.
If Manipur would have been a country they would have won more medals than the whole India.
@naina don't get into the number, number never helped Einstein to discover gravity. Its the emotions.
@naina if given independence, Manipur would've developed sports as one of its top priority.
You could compare us with the likes of Croatia,Hungary etc in terms of sports.

Just look at Mary

But able to reach the Olympic platform in 2012 😑
Manipuris are a better breed then the rest, being strong and powerful they never find it necessary to increase the population to survive, hence a small community.
Doesn't this make your heart fill with pride... more power to Manipur!
I think our cricketers should come forward to help these athelete's and community clubs to flourish other sports in india!

It's all started from Dinko Singh. Also, he missed big names from Manipur :
Bala Devi playing for FC Rangers
Nilkanta Singh (Hockey)
Kotajit Singh (Hockey)
Chinglensana Singh (Hockey)
You are wrong it's not started from dingko.there are lots of players before him.
@@Nanaoabu Pls name, after him i started following Manipur sports.
Dingko was known after bangkok asian games 1998 and there are Olympians from manipur thoiba and nilakomal as a hockey players and kunjarani, sanamacha, sanjita,Sarita, and 8th times world bodybuilding champion arambam Boby and many more

Dheeraj Singh MoirangtheM
@Chetan meitei surnames are derived from peculiarity of an individual that's why end with 'm'
There are some more fun facts about Manipur..
Manipur is the birth place of Mordern Polo Game, The Britishers learned it from Manipur that's how it spread all over the world, Cachar Club in Silchar Town,Assam is the oldest Polo club in the world...

Thank you so much for covering my state's contributions towards sport.
While i have awaited someone outside, the state to cover this topic. All Medias are busy spreading only insurgencies problems and poor images of manipur. As if we, manipuri are trouble makers. Atleast, Manipur produce many athletes despite such little populations we have.
I wish if you could go little deeper of the sport culture of Manipur, like the origin of polo and naming some of those athletes who inspired the nations and their records.
I think we have around 18 to 20 arjuna awardee in my state, despite the population.
Again, Thank you so much 🙏
Hi Mohak,
Thank you so much for bringing up this topic. Lover and respect from Manipur🤗
As someone from Manipur, I'm kinda happy and sad at the same time about this. We get recognized only when it is beneficial for Indians as a whole and totally get ignored and even discriminated against, as you can easily see in the past year and a half because of covid. I know these types of people are a small minority, but the loud minorities tend to be the most annoying and cause the most damage overall.
Brother a big shout out to all brothers and sisters of Manipur. Next time when someone says are you Indian!
Just say on their face screaming Being Indian is our nationality, Being Manipuri is my ethnicity and Manipur is in India and tell him or her to take some geography classes.
U said. 25 lac se thora jyada (u have the option also to say that 26 lac se kam) and u said low center of gravity ( rather than saying less height) , your positivity is the key to u r success. Please keep it up . . Love from assam ❤️

I have been doing kumite since grade 3 and in 2011 I got the chance to play for my state. Though I lost in the semifinal round my opponent was from Manipur infact he and his brother won 1st and 2nd respectively in our weight category. And should I say he was the best opponent I have ever faced, we even became good friends after the kumite. Jack bhai if you are reading. Cheers 🍻
Good spirits of Manipur athletes is that even after they get retire…and without any good source of income they will help the coming up youth to participate in every sports, they also financially help them from their own pockets
That’s the inspiration where the youth generation learned and get inspire
My parents r frm manipur but now we live in maharashtra , here i grew up explaining people that Indian people can also look like the people from middle and eastern asia. 😅 and i realized how bad our representation was when priyanka chopra acted as mary kom. Proud to be manipuri 👍😎 .. U made my day.. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I'm from manipur and here i can say, every small locality has at least one club.
Quite a remarkable information you have gathered......such small necessary steps are the bond that unite us and succeed in the long run!!! jai hind!!!
Good explanatory. Starting for the culture, support system, the physical aspects and the spirit to never give up 👏👏👏 🙂

True almost all of my north eastern friends are really fit and have a natural athletic body. One thing I liked the most about them is that almost all of them are indulged in some or the other sports, even fat boys there play outdoor games like football and basketball with full energy and enthusiasm.
The 'Manipur Sports Model' should be adopted in every states of india ...and Haryana and Punjab are kings in these affairs !
