As another bari player: a little slow but great job. One of the best intros I've heard of people who didn't just straight copy Ronnie Cuber's version. Side note: Who in the HECK plays tenor between their legs?!?! Interesting lol
me! idk i used to play on the side at first, but now i feel much more comfortable playing in between istead. Idk why to be honest.... i play bari on side tho lol. Wonder if anyone plays bari between their legs...
I play tenor sax as well. I think it’s a marching band thing, I see it a lot in marching band bc they try to look formal. He must just have gotten used to marching band.🫤
This was Great. It reminded me when I was in Elementary School and my friends and I were just starting out and learning to play. One morning before school real early we got together to play our Instruments Saxes Trombones Trumpets Clarinets and a Tuba for the Neighborhood. We improvised and starting playing. They might as well called it Moaning of the Worst Kind. It woke up a lot of People earlier then they wanted. They weren't very happy.
I play all saxes inbetween my legs (including bari) and the only one that like hurts my thumb is soprano and that's only because I don't use a strap for that but if you sit with good posture and have a good length for your neckstrap and adjust your neck and mouthpiece comfortably then it shouldn't matter where you place the saxophone.
this could have been better if the bari sax didn't let the rest of the band take over this song is supposed to feature the bari sax and its unique sound not everyone playing over it but other than that good job to them all
Not trying to knock the bari but fiddles in my opinion sound childish or like your out things to play but overall this is a very good performance and baritone player
@@saxmanization haha no dont play but I was just making a joke, theres a movie called "whiplash" it's about a jazz drummer who plays for the conductor Terrance Fletcher who is a hardass and criticizes everything about the band's performances
Cheers to that Bari though, from one Bari sax player to another

Having the band incrementally come on stage was so cool
Not perfect but some of these comments are way to harsh this is pretty damn good 😂
trombones are glissing too much

Me. I play tenor with it in between my legs. I am also 6'3 so I have an excuse

yo i do too
im kinda short tho (5'3) so i dont really have an excuse. i guess its just more comfortable for me
bro I cant even play my alto between my legs lol

Props to that rhythm section, they have a fantastic feel and groove.
bari sax is the ultimate saxophone- change my mind.
also, i play alto and bari so yah.
Bass sax is funkier
It really moans when played by someone who knows what they’re doing
Fr I love bari so much, I play tenor and bari. Had to give the bari back to my old school tho, fun while I had it!
Amen to that brother
@@lazagnuhsassi8408 what about tenors Bb lives matter
Nah tenor and bass are the best
For me the bari kills it when he sat down

this deserves way more likes
i like how they slowly walk in and sit down depending on when they come in, pretty cool
This is fantastic stuff - well done!
what i'm wondering is how the tenor player manages to keep the sax between his legs without his thumb dying
I play clarinet and alto sax... maybe because I had practice but it's not too hard
@@TrashCanBoiBoi its because its a tenor sax, its uncomfortable to hold like that unless your very tall.
@@TrashCanBoiBoi tenor is bigger than a alto

sickest band entrance of all time
This was really good! That trumpet player had some nice solos
Sheet music for tenor?
Ask your director😈

That’s not his fault it’s more of the directors fault for not pointing it out to his band. It’s really no one’s fault but don’t blame the bari
Trombone god dang
Ya like jazz

Play at 1.25 speed
Why
Justalazer it’s the speed it should go
@@jasonalvarado3246 oh now it sounds better
yeah they did seem to drag a bit, but 1.25 is a bit too fast
I hate how they scream when he plays 3 notes
Those bends tho 😩
It's from the original song
@@MrPabgon Yeah idk what he was talking about lol. Its what makes moanin' moanin'!

Sy Johnson - Charles Mingus' personal arranger.
Not trying to knock the bari but fiddles in my opinion sound childish or like your out things to play but overall this is a very good performance and baritone player
drummer totally ruined the tempo
Yeah he took it way too slow
This is a high school jazz band. The bandleader could've had them take it slower so it could be cleaner.
Living up to their stereotype I guess
@@ThomasW280 or they just don't wanna play beyond 220 BPM?
Not Mingus but Art Blakey
this Moanin was written by Mingus, but Art Blakey has a song called Moanin as well. They’re entirely different though
So slow
I almost cried when the drummer startet... He ruined the whole song!!!(my opinion)
Don't wet your pants: it'll be better next time.
The beginning is bad
band is ok. sax solos stunk. bari just a series of grunts. tenor.. what for? trumpets gave the best solo efforts. average at best.
okay Terence Fletcher
