Thanks for watching and commenting- I personally like to adjust swing length and work to keep tempo/speed of swing the same. However I have had students have success with increasing the swing speed/tempo of the swing and keeping the swing length shorter. I’d try both variations and see which one works best for you. 👍🏼
Very good explanation. I’m a little confused about what keeps the ball low. You have: a 60* wedge, slight open face, no forward shaft lean, and you are holding the face open through the shot. Why doesn’t the ball go high?
Thanks for watching and commenting John, it’s not just one single thing that causes the lower flight while holding the club face open. I’ll do my best to explain it. Maintaining the additional loft on the club coupled with a shallower attack angle leads to the ball spending slightly more time on the grooves as the clubhead passes underneath it. This means the ball doesn’t shoot off the face as quickly which then increases the spin element, whilst producing a lower flight. I hope that makes sense?
Definitely has a big impact on ball speed. The more tension in the grip the more likely for excessive forward shaft lean at impact and deLofting the club will lead to increased ball speed. 👍🏼
My method is new wedges, premium ball, control your low point - hit down on it but don't take a divot. Learned accidentally after a lesson on low point, trying to pitch they all come out low with lots of spin
@@dannybirdgolf I'm about to go full nerd, I do it by limiting ulner deviation. I just swung in my living room and yeah lead extension is built in, I don't think about it though. Wrist angles, L to L
follow up just do what I said and thin it. I thinned one today from about 40 yds and it went about 5 feet high and one hop stopped. Miss hit for sure but the definition of a low spinner
Thanks for watching Thomas and commenting, I am just one man and his iPhone out here trying to create content that helps players. Unfortunately I was unaware that the angle up at the green that I had the phone placed, had a serious glare off the lake behind me and you couldn’t see the flight of the ball fully and the portion of the green where the pin was located. I have pinned on my Instagram a mid flight spin shot video I created a while back, it shows the ball spinning when it lands, I also have a cutty spinner video on Instagram which has over 161k views. They are worth a watch if you want to see a ball spinning on the green.
Great explanation mate. Just wondering would you adjust your swing length of the shot for different distances.

@@dannybirdgolf I think light grip pressure allows the ball to come off the face of the club softer, hence lower

Awesome 🙌🏼 hitting down without taking a divot requires lead side extension through impact which creates space which adds clubhead speed 🤓

Hahaha, downside to hitting down too much is too steep an AOA and low point getting too far ahead of the ball. But man they will go low 😂
Great demonstration of where the shot actually landed. Ummm 🤔

The sound off the club face gives you all the explanation you need! Great vid Danny!
