Can't believe it's only been a year. You've gotten so good in a year, dude.

These are some valuable lessons, I like the different sports and correlations between them.
For example i was doing javelin throwing as a kid, made my serve mega strong with less effort than expected.

Tip 5 is KEY. I've found so many ways to improve from watching my own match play film.

Thanks for an amazing year, Trey. Here's to another. Merry Holiday and hopefully 2024 brings me (and SImon) to Texas.
Next Summer, I'd love to have you up North. We've got quite a hidden gem up here, the oldest continually operating tennis club in the world (Wimbledon closed during the war) which sports ocean-side grass courts. The best time of the year is when we play the "woodies" tournament.

@@Winners-Onlygreat advice! I’ve never thought about the pinpoint serve this way but what you said made a lot of sense, and I’m gonna try it. I also played a ton of basketball before switching to tennis much later than you did. Early on I found that my movement was an advantage and a disadvantage, because you’re right about wanting to square up instead of turn. Also the split step was foreign from basketball, and after 5 years of tennis it still isn’t natural until I’m scrambling and know I’m going to have to burst. I get lazy and it rarely happens on easy balls unless I consciously remind myself…..and thinking instead of reacting isn’t a good thing in general.

I dont think its a miracle. Hes put in some serious work both in his tennis game and his YT channel and its clearly playing off. As someone who just hit the 6 month mark and also obsessed with the sport like he is its been really fun to follow his journey thats so relatable to my own.

Great tips! Just over a year for me as well. I found your channel pretty early in my tennis journey (4 months in). I also bought the slinger bag. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has access to real humans. Another similarity with golf is lag. When I found my rhythm and started hitting with lag is when my shots started to have POP. Filming yourself is my number one tip beyond hitting with real people. Unfortunatly I don't have consistent ppl to hit with so I rely on the wall and the slinger bag. Since my lack of hitting partners, I wouldn't be surprised if I have put in around 20% more time than you, and am probably about the same or similar level 😮‍💨

  • @DamienJemison

Dropstep. Dunk. No big deal. I hate you! 🤣 I also came from basketball to tennis a few years ago and quickly noticed that the pinpoint serve was more natural for me. At first, I used the platform stance because it was one less point of movement that I had to think about and coordinate. However, the amount of effortless power I get by using my legs is what really separates my serve from most recreational players.

He's a 4.7 UTR, so definitely getting close to (but probably not) a NTRP 4.0 yet, and certainly not past it. He should be able to reach that goal this coming year, though. 4.5 and up is where improvement gets really tough!
