Those are awesome tips Gillian! One thing I would add when it comes to imagining speaking to one particular person, that really helped me, is to imagine that you're speaking to your best friend (or to your parent, or to your child, or to somebody that means a lot to you) and then imagine that they happened to be really interested in whatever it is you want to talk to them about. Hope that helps. BIG HUGS🤗🥰💖

Thank you. I’ve been doing TH-cam for over 3 years and talking to a camera has always been hard. I always take any new advice on the subject to improve

I have watched a ton of how to youtube videos and in my opinion, none of them really matter if you can't be comfortable on camera. This is my first priority. Thank you for these great tips! I've written them down and will follow them to help me improve!

This sounds like great advice! Can't wait to put it to use today. Thanks Gillian!
It was the #1 video that came up when I googled "how to be yourself when talking to camera".

Gillian, you never cease to amaze me. I've been following your TH-cam for a long time and your content is so legit -- no cheese, no clickbait, no gimmicks. I'm a God-fearing preacher and am starting to livestream. Your video here adds value and transferable skills to so many public speaking environments. God bless. Thank you for the character and integrity that you bring to content creating and empowering others to walk in their God-given purpose.

As I 'prep' psychologically, technically and 'content-wise' for my new TH-cam channel, I'd just like to throw you a big kudos Gillian. Your advice and organic presentation of this pursuit is simply awesome! For someone your age to have such an old soul, and an articulate approach to your consultative advice is 'very' impressive. I've been in digital marketing for 20+ years and can truly say you're a gem. Keep being you Perkins!

I must say this the best video I have learned from this year. I am a teacher and I present to my students and teachers and I agree about practice. My biggest take is looking into camera and having your audience in mind. Awesome video dear!!!

Thanks Gillian I love your videos always very insightful, I personally struggled initially with talking to the camera and muddled my words quite a bit and I agree keeping a script is great as long as it is bullet pointed and you can keep it fluid and natural when speaking :)

It took me 3 years to get comfortable on camera. I look back at old videos and i cringe lol. I’m more relaxed now but it took a ton of videos to get to this place 🙂

I feel the I am challanged with the fact that I show little emotion when speaking. In real life I am the same.
Yes. I guess being an introvert, I think things through long enough that the emotion is gone before I speak.

Hey I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time. What do you do when you want to do a video then you realise that people (other content creators) have done it already do you quit or you continue working on it?
Am just starting on my TH-cam journey. If you will be interested I can give you the link to my channel for your opinion. I will be grateful
