I taught Yoga for 18 years, and my spiritual work is to get my messae of Love out to awaken hearts around the world. I know that TH-cam can be a vehicle for my message, workshops, books etc. I will learn from you as soon as I get my tax return money back. I can't wait! My intention is for everyone here to be able to live her dreams and to give her gifts to the world! Hugs and Love, Elisha
Where am I in the process? My channel was monetized last month and I actually see a few dollars earned from ads in my studio. Just seeing that, no matter how small, was exciting to see. 😀 Now I must focus on other avenues of income as you talked about. Thanks for today’s program.
I actually work as a YT consultant and just shared this video (which might have been dumb;) because you literally shared every thing I tell my clients!!! Excellent video, Gillian.
Thanks for the advice in this video! I’ve been on TH-cam since 2007, but my channel has been monetized for a year and a half. I’m over 600 videos in, but didn’t get serious about TH-cam till a couple years ago. Planning out my content strategy for the new year and trying to be smart about monetizing my content.
Gillian, yes, yes. I love your content and how you are so thorough. It is because of your channel, I decided I can do this. Thanks to you and Matt Par encouraging us to JUST START and learn as you move forward.
Thanks for the inspiration, Gillian! I paused my channel for the last year-ish, but am getting back into it for 2022. I think what's great about being a creator and in charge of your own channel is that you get to choose sponsorships vs. talent on a network TV show that doesn't have a choice. I also really appreciate how creatively some people present their sponsorships; Abby Cox, Rachel Maksy, Bailey Sarian are all very funny and it doesn't feel fake when they're doing a spot.
Thanks for the advice! I've reached over 1k subscribers, but the challenge now is getting that watch time and becoming fulltime while staying true to my subscribers and myself. I am actually really enjoying the journey!
Gillian, this was probably your best video (that I have seen anyways). So practical, so straightforward, and SO doable! This actually made me realize, that, yeah, I can do this! THANK YOU! I have my topic, but I have not created a schedule or committed because I've been lacking belief in myself
Thank you for this video! I am about 6 months into my channel now and have been bingeing your videos recently as I start to take growth more seriously. Your tips have been really helpful so far!
This video came to me at the right time. All your tips and information was so helpful. Currently I am trying to pick a topic that i can stick to because my channel was a little all over the place and I had been uploading consistently but I had too many different topics. I also just started my own etsy shop and i hope this can become my source of income to allow me to be full time.
Thank you Gillian. This helped me get some ideas of where I need to go next to scale. I'm at the building a website and email list step. I was looking in your description for a video dedicated on building an email list (how to, benefits from it, etc) I'm sure you have one (I'll look for it) but I think that would be a great follow up video in your description or end screen. Lots of love and thanks again! Susanne
I really enjoyed your content. And I do feel like two years is the realistic goal to go full-time so that is your 18 months of work plus your 5 to 6 months of actually making content. I think it can confuse people or discourage people or maybe even make people overly optimistic that they can go full-time in five or six months. Because I know a lot of TH-camrs and I would say it’s a few years for the majority of them.
I’m only posting shorts on TH-cam at the moment. I think my shyness is keeping me from doing a deep dive in the TH-cam space. Would be nice to have even a part time schedule of videos.
Absolutely! Thank you so much Gillian for the inspiration! I can always count on you! I enjoy watching your content so much! My channel is growing slowly but surely and I can’t wait to continue to hit milestones.
yes i do belive it. i have been wanting to launch my TH-cam channel for 7+ years now. i do believe it and very strongly .. unfortunately i went down the rabbit hole of analysis paralysis of watching videos about launching my youtube channel intensively for 4 years now
thank you for this information. Made me think of this in a different way and acutallly simplified what i can focus on. Thank you for helping me narrow it down
You're amazing Gillian. Wowza that was a tone of free information. Thank you. Now I must get out of the dabbling stages and become consistent. My biggest hurdle is producing content that I Know already exists on TH-cam. Finding my style of recording is something I can't come up with.. this is my biggest hurdle. Kathy
I have registered for the workshop. I’m currently at a roadblock where I’m currently brainstorming on options of personal products to sell and how to encourage better engagement from my subscribers.
I have a tiny channel because its super niche focused on a tarot deck I made and the people who bought it. I also another playlist on there of vintage horror films with commentary. I did that to get used to being on camera because I was super camera shy. I wanted to have an art studio channel but it's harder, What I'm finding though is that most of my subscribers and commenters are more interested in me, than in my topics! I thought, now that I'm more confident, I will make a second channel for the art studio, but they want to see that on the current channel. So my niche is myself? Its kind of confusing as I have been ramping up this year. An art studio channel has lots of options for making money. I can't monetize the vintage films but that's the bulk of my views.
Thank you so much for this video! I've just started on TH-cam and I've committed to posting one video per week about art and creativity, a topic I'm super passionate about! I am loving the process so much and I know I can keep up this rhythm! Thanks again😊
You're right Gillian, even though TH-cam ad revenue is a form of passive income, it's also like you said a very "passive" and slow way to make money. You will earn money on your channel so much faster and much larger amounts when you take your TH-cam income into you're own hands by selling your own products or affiliate products. Then your TH-cam ad revenue becomes a lovely bonus. One tip I would give for affiliate marketing is to not direct your TH-cam traffic directly to your affiliate offer but instead create a simple gift (a checklist, ebook, quiz, mini course) in exchange for their email address and then send them over to the affiliate offer so you are building your own list of future buyers for other related offers. Great video Gillian. You are an amazing successful TH-camr role model🤗💖
Thank you so much for such an inspirational video. I'm guilty of not always prioritising my website and channel and I know that if I work harder I will get positive results. Love the suggestion of Friday filming, weekend editing and Tuesday publishing - I think this schedule could really work for me. I do have ideas for monetising my blog but you've steered me down a much better path. Thanks again for sharing what you do, it really is so helpful.
Where I am at in my process is trying to break the “researching” for the info and just make the perfect TH-cam video, edit it, thumbnails, descriptions, info and posting it! I have been researching and buying all the book things, doing all the free trainings things and then not doing anything because I don’t know how to edit videos even tho I have not really sat down and tried either so I just make vids and keep researching how to do YT successfully. Ugh, to perfectionism.
Hello thank you so much for the video wow . Ok so I’m sort of figuring out how to stage. I got products I make , sell things on poshmark but also do music and teach under my own llc I need to figure out how to mold the fashion and music together next for what I’m doing and I’ll take your advice on one day and what hour to started filming editing and posting . Do this video was absolutely perfect . The how to build up with TH-cam is where I am right now . Thank you so much
In the process: I just posted my first video with a laptop that can handle editing software! Yup. In between recording and posting that video, I learned how to use Adobe Rush and LightWorks before settling on Resolve. I also tried to level up by learning how to use another editor to make my channel logo, banner, and thumbnail! Disclaimer: still very raw, but I wanted to grind through that whole learning curve up front, so I can just keep getting better from here. Thanks for all your raw and real tips and encouragement, Gillian!
Hi Gillian! Thanks for the tips. Want to become a full-time youtuber, but my channel is going at snail's space. Trying to follow the Algorithm but sometimes it's not bring me the crowd that I need to flourish. And I notice most persons just watch the Trailer and don't go to the videos.
I've started my channels few months ago. That doesn't sound like much but like yourself I spent over a year teaching myself about TH-cam and how to edit on premiere pro. My aim is to become a full time TH-camr but I find it difficult while working full-time. Also, I share your ethics in that I don't want to go down the make money for the sake of money route. The most important thing for me is to produce high value content for the community I'm trying to build. Unfortunately, it seems like this takes more time
Hi, thank you for your tutorial Is right to the point what’s the difference between a blog or Vlogmas I do have something that I made that I would love to share but I don’t want to share the recipe and I don’t know how to get around that
Vlogmas is a video blog EVERY day from December 1st until the 25th or 31st of December. It's an intense amount of work and content. I love consuming it, but I can't imagine ever doing it! I think you should share what you made - it's fun to get feedback on your stuff when you put it out into the world.
I’m at the beginning of this video but already encouraged! Is this too broad of a niche?: photography-travel photography, wedding/destination wedding photography, product photography, photoshoot prep/haul. Everything stems from photography and I follow Taylor Jackson and Photo by Allison with this type of content, but is it too broad? I finally nailed down “photography” as my niche this year🙈
Gillian, I have a question. What if your idea(s) isn’t something that’s really out there yet? How does one look at the algorithm from that, or make titles that will be found?
Excited to be diving back into youtube this year! I just got rejected from a FANNG company (will be talking about it 😅) and it's exactly the redirection I needed to pursue being a content creator and taking it seriously again! Thanks for the inspo & tips!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I believe! I love the individual creativity aspect of YouTubing 😁. Finding a niche is the hard part. I’m committed just standing out isn’t easy. I’ve kept to best places to dine out for now and hoping I can continue with this theme…only time will tell 🧐
I’m so frustrated with my niche for 2 reasons 1) weather can easily mess up my recording schedule and ability to stay consistent and 2) it’s quite seasonal … I also don’t know if I chose a highly profitable niche. I need help with monetization and don’t know where to get it.
Mines cats y’all, love my cats and their shinanigans. Thank you for your tips and tricks! And YES I want to be a full time TH-camr. Im tired of working for someone and somewhere I do not enjoy. I enjoy making videos of my cats and I love watching cat videos. The make me smile and stress a lot less and that’s why I made my channel. I hope it continues to grow to where I can just have it as my full time job. I would love to have comments on my channel, I love talking to people so hopefully that grows too. Good luck to everyone on their channel!! 🍀

I love that..."commiting to every VIDEO BEING BETTER THAN YOUR LAST". That is such a deep thought to chew on.
Thanks for the inspiration, Gillian! I paused my channel for the last year-ish, but am getting back into it for 2022.
