Excellent video! Thanks for the guide. On this and another of your videos that I watched, you said you weren't sure why some people couldn't see file extensions like .txt or .ini. If you go to the "View" tab at the top of your File Explorer, there should be an option in that section that allows you to enable/disable file extensions. When active, this settings lets the user see those .ini or .exe extensions. I keep extensions on all the time because it is just useful to be able to see file types in the name of the file itself. Some people don't like the clutter, but it's extremely useful for modding in any game. Yours is obviously on, but it might make it easier for some newer modders if you add this to your future modding walkthroughs. I hope this helps! Thanks again for making these great tutorials.
thanks for making this clear -- the ini file changes are inconsistent between a lot of the instructions on some of the mods -- sometimes it ended up breaking the entire game. but your video cleared that up nicely thank you!
I appreciate how you don't talk like an IT tech like most tutorials, assuming everyone else is as IT'y as them. I usually have Google open to search terms to translate what the hell they're talking about. If I was that savvy I wouldn't be here🤔 And you're not like the opposite ones who maybe arent as savvy but assume we know what they're thinking. Those I mute, play 1/2 speed and follow their moves without all the 'you know, like open the whatever file and, oh wait not that one, this one' (shakes the mouse passing over 7 files). I subscribed thank you for a quick and easy guide for people who may not be 100% comfortable modding I have installed a few myself but non that disable achievements and Neutral LUT was the first one I installed.
Very clear and concise many thanks. Thumbs up !. Also as many folks say, and in my personal opinion, dont be afraid to try out these mods. You can always go back to your default .ini file. Just make a copy of it or remove the modded text lines. Its simple. Many of these mods add a vast improvement to how the game looks without an FPS drop. Thank you.
i understand the 'color' palette decision that Bethesda made; but the black level/washed out thing? good lord. this mod helps so many things...it lifts the veil on an otherwise beautiful game.

Hello, thank you for such a great tutorial but I'm in a bit of a predicament, I tried both methods and even clicked view on the file explorer to get rid of the txt extension and it still wont do anything, am I doing something wrong?
@@Kaykrisify I got it too work after tinkering around, I apologize if I wasted any of your time, for some reason the initial change to ini didn't take so what i did was completely delete the StarfieldCustom.ini file I created and redo it from scratch and it worked! thank you so much and have a good one!
I cant get it to work on my game, I have NaturaLUTs Enhanced verison downloaded, I followed all the steps from the video and description of the mod but I cant get it to change my filter.
Do yo know when moving data from documents (using baka) change custom ini to add data to game folder when u open mo2 it make folder again in ducoments/starfield ? is that normal if you mybe know that?
in a few places there is still a green tint (ex: mission Surgical Strike for Space Rangers when you go after Maya Cruz in her hideout there are a few places that are really really weird) for some reason and in other places its incredibly dark (ex: Akila City and Neon City)
@@Kaykrisify yah raised it quite a bit but it still becomes quite dark even inside my ship which is quite weird. gonna see if it is my monitor (which shouldnt be but oh well)

Usually has something to do with your permissions settings, I wouldn't worry about it. If it changes to .ini and it's a config file now, you might notice the icon will change. Look for that instead.
@@rusty2983Press view at the top of your file directory and then make sure 'File Name Extensions' is enabled/checked. This maybe should help with seeing if it's the right file. I'm not sure.
Thank you for this video. I'm new to modding. So in my textures folder there is another folder called effects and in that one is LUTs. Show my folder tree is data-textures-effects-luts. Is this Correct? I didn't notice the effects folder in yours. Does that matter? Sorry if this is confusing. As I said I'm new to modding. I already do have the starfield custom ini file installed.
You need to change the .txt into a .ini. Just delete the .txt at the end. If you don't see the .txt, press 'View' at the top of your file explorer and then 'File Name Extensions'.

You dont have a Starfield folder in your Documents/My Games/Starfield? Try searching it through your PC's search bar and see if two different folders come up.
Are you sure you're installing correctly? Do you have view file extensions on? Some people didn't have it turned on and it affected them naming the file incorrectly for enabling Archive Invalidation
@Kaykrisify Yea, I verified it changed to a config file and I copy and pasted from your description but it just refuses to launch. I might try and do a fresh install and try again
when i dowload the mod ik nexus mods have been updated but i dont have anything to extract to drag a data folder over like shown in the vid now once i download the mod it states installed on nexus and theres nothing to put into my starfield folder where my custom ini is help reply plz... (EDIT) okay peeps if you randomly are stuck because you cant find the folder download unzip app then manual download the mod open the RAR file with unzip then the data file will be there to drag hope this can help someone that was stuck like i was ;)

I bought a pc last week to play starfield I want this mod bad because it looks terrible on my oled but of course my dumb ace can’t get past the ini for some reason I don’t get the txt on the description and when I add ini it stays a text document and I get no prompt. I probably should have just bought an Xbox 😂
What about the first method? If you don’t see the ini in the second method, look below your Starfield Exe file. It might be below that but isn’t named “starfield.ini”

I usually dont bother with filters or ENBs but I have to say this is the first visual filter remover I recomend for Starfield.

This worked perfectly on gamepass for pc. The game is now full of colour and I don't understand why it had a green filter in the first place.

What Gamma are you guys using? I found no gamma setting to be a bit too dark, but 2.6 to be a bit too bright. Wasn't sure what to go with

Are you playing on Steam or Gamepass? You should have one in your PC/Documents/My Games

Do you have Winrar or 7zip? They are free programs used for mods that use zip files.

Press View on the top of your file explorer. Then press “show file extensions”. That should help with changing the file extension!!! You got this!

What about the first method? If you don’t see the ini in the second method, look below your Starfield Exe file. It might be below that but isn’t named “starfield.ini”
