Rod Woodson #26 Played 17 years from 1987-2003 (4 teams) 11x Pro Bowl selection 6x All Pro selection Super Bowl champion in 2000 1993 Defensive Player of the Year 1990's All Decade Team 71 career interceptions ranks 3rd all time. 1,483 return yards ranks 2nd all time. 32 career fumble recoveries 17 career touchdowns (12 interception returns, 1 fumble return, 2 kickoff returns, 2 punt returns). He holds the league record for interceptions returned for touchdown with 12. Earned All Pro selections as cornerback, safety and kick returner. As a testament to his work ethic and consistency here is what he did at age 37 in 2002. Started in all 16 games Recorded 82 combined tackles (70 solo) 8 interceptions (career-high) for 225 return yards 3 fumble recoveries 7 pass deflections 1 touchdown All Pro selection Pro Bowl selection Super Bowl appearance
Also 500th game on MNF history as well, Gannon almost had the record for completion but a completed pass to Garner was ruled incomplete but it was actually a catch.
Thanks for this! This is the biggest play for the Raiders in the last 15 years. One slight edit... The Raiders were up 3-0. They were about to go down 7-3. When Woodson went into the hall of fame, he said this was the biggest play of his career.
Oh yeah...you're right. It was the Raiders who were up 3-0 and were about to trail 7-3....but instead were suddenly up 10-0 and the momentum rolled from there. This was the game where Gannon set an all-time consecutive completion record for 21 straight completions. Check this video out: th-cam.com/video/qCfurwjR5qc/w-d-xo.html
That was a big time play. Woodson had him in his sights before the ball was snapped. Definitely one of the all time great Raider moments. That and Romanowski crushing Shannon Sharpe.
Yea but we have more history than the donkeys, and it's not bronco nation, there's only one nation, that's the RAIDER NATION. I know we suck right now, but it's ok, I've been a Raider fan for 46 years, and i love beating you guys lol
I was in 4th grade that year, and it was when I had just started watching football. I've been a Raiders fan since the beginning, but man, I wish I was around when they were one of the regular Playoff teams.
This is my favorite game I've ever been to. My first Monday night game, Raiders were big underdogs coming in, Jerry Rice caught his 200th career TD, and of course this play. What a magical night!
OL yeah I remember that play all so well rod woodson still had that fight and will to win attitude in him , plus the man had plenty nitro in his tank and we had that savage bill romanowsky .
I certainly remember that play, as I was staying at my late Uncle's house in Charleston SC [Ladson] to be exact. I was lying in bed and turned on the TV then Rod made that play.
You're absolutely correct. That singular play turned the Raiders season. If only we had beaten Gruden in the SB lol. Regardless, this was a great moment in Raider lore.
Rod Woodson should've made the Pro Bowl this season. He made so many big plays. When he made this play, you could just feel our season come back to life. We were bleeding and dying on that losing streak.
Man I remember this game and I always got my 6 pack of corona for good luck at mile high for Oakland. The Raiders had the Broncos in some close games and it was a matter of time to finally punk them in their house and it was nice. The game that still pisses me off to this day is the Tuck Rule game against the referee assisted Patriots. Don't even get me started on the Chiefs being a hardcore LA/OAK Raider Fan.
The Raiders were actually up 3-0 when this play happened. This matters because the Raiders run defense was weak, but they had a good pass rush and some playmakers in the secondary. If the Broncos scored they would have went up 7-3, and they'd have been in position to keep running it down their throats and control the game. Instead, Rod Woodson takes it all the way back and they go down 10-0, putting them in a position where they had to throw it to catch up. That's exactly how the Raiders won most of their games that year, they were great at piling on leads and blowing teams out.
At this point Gannon was 4/4 their next drive his 9th pass was declared incomplete by the ref on a brilliant toe tap by Charlie Garner however the Raiders didn't challenge and initially the only replay was too far away to see clearly that he was in bounds. Gannon then completed his next 22 pass attempts however one was a 2 pt conversion that I guess doesn't count toward the stats officially. If I remember right the broadcast team showed a replay of the missed call completion sometime late in the game. The NFL record books should show "Most consecutive completions in a game: Rich Gannon: 31 (uncredited) Philip Rivers, Nick Foles: 25 (credited)
It would be better to just watch without describing the entire play beforehand. I remember but those that didn't can just enjoy the play. Maybe just show the scoreboard then the play.
Sorry but the intro is wrong. The Raiders took the Kickoff and drove down and kicked a field goal. The Raiders were up 3-0 and Denver drove down the field and looked like it was a certainty that they would score and go up 7-3 when Rod Woodson made his season saving play.
we had the best coach and the best QB just a bad owner.and that my friends is raiders history .until al davis died we were reborn.and from the ashes we have rebuild and we will go back to dominating the donkeys ,chargers and chefs
+BlkAuDiS401 If by curse you mean 5 AFC title Trophies 3 Super Bowl Trophies and 11 Raiders in the HOF...and the only team to play in the super bowl in every decade with the exception of the 90's is that the curse you are referring too?

I remember watching this game. If memory serves correctly, Jerry Rice scored his 200th touchdown that night as well.
Also 500th game on MNF history as well, Gannon almost had the record for completion but a completed pass to Garner was ruled incomplete but it was actually a catch.
Remember berrys
It was the first NFL game I watched on television. What a team. I am a brazilian Raiders fan since then.
Thanks for this! This is the biggest play for the Raiders in the last 15 years. One slight edit... The Raiders were up 3-0. They were about to go down 7-3. When Woodson went into the hall of fame, he said this was the biggest play of his career.

I miss that team! It had alot of my favorite players on it that season. I was only in second grade -_- but i remember it.
Woodson is one of the greatest that has ever played that position. So freaking good.
That was beautiful.... I miss Romo!!!!
"GRIESE! GOD DAMMIT!!!" LMFAO
That was a big time play. Woodson had him in his sights before the ball was snapped. Definitely one of the all time great Raider moments. That and Romanowski crushing Shannon Sharpe.
Relevant raiders moments are very few and far between indeed. Keep reaching to the far past to fell better. Thanks for this lol

Raiders for life !
This is my favorite game I've ever been to. My first Monday night game, Raiders were big underdogs coming in, Jerry Rice caught his 200th career TD, and of course this play. What a magical night!

How great was that? Still get chills watching it
Still remember watching this live in my living room
Rod Woodson is the best safety in NFL history. And had another hall of fame Woodson on the team. wish I had the opportunity to watch them
Thats Wats Up!!!! Love That Play #26
You're absolutely correct. That singular play turned the Raiders season. If only we had beaten Gruden in the SB lol. Regardless, this was a great moment in Raider lore.
that was awesome that rod woodson outsmarted the Denver broncos in this video
Great times!! JWB
Mexico
usa thanks
The ref got in the way of that completion
And then the Buccaneers crushed them in the Super Bowl, with Tampa Bay's defense outscoring the League's number one offense and MVP Rich Gannon.
I love this!
Loved watching that team
Boy you sure pulled one out your hat Raider Greg!!!
Cool video man!
I love this.. you're a savage
Those were the days.
Rod Woodson should've made the Pro Bowl this season. He made so many big plays. When he made this play, you could just feel our season come back to life. We were bleeding and dying on that losing streak.
He made the pro bowl and was a 1st team All-Pro...
I think he lead NFL in int to
Great game!!!

Next morning, in a meeting at work in Boulder, "How about them Raiders? Great game!"
and that is the best Raider highlight in the last 38 years lol ...
1983 ....the Last time the Raiders ever win a Superbowl..
those were the days

Nice 360p quality for the time haha. Raiders had Rod and Charles Woodson thats crazy.
I love hearing the bronco fans lol
God damn it, I want a winning team again!
Wow I didn't know Gannon held that record before Favre broke it
At this point Gannon was 4/4 their next drive his 9th pass was declared incomplete by the ref on a brilliant toe tap by Charlie Garner however the Raiders didn't challenge and initially the only replay was too far away to see clearly that he was in bounds.

Edited to take out Ryan Tannehill who has 25 straight across 2 games which is a stupid stat
Rich Gannon has 38 straight if you do it that way
Woodson still had WHEELS when he was older
nice!
It would be better to just watch without describing the entire play beforehand. I remember but those that didn't can just enjoy the play. Maybe just show the scoreboard then the play.
He's a legend but he's also damn lucky to not have Nate Newton'ed the ball there.
Who? Nate Newton? Are you talking about Leon Lett's fumble in the Super Bowl!??! lol
Charles Woodson was always better than rod woodson
Fady Aldouise you're a fool for even saying that. There is no argument. You're a fool
Fady Aldouise Again a fool. idiot. What records does CW hold? How has CW impacted the NFL in the HISTORY of the game? lol, fool
And both of them was on the same damn team. Which was amazing.
Superbowl MVP:
Dexter Jackson
I remember that
Sorry but the intro is wrong. The Raiders took the Kickoff and drove down and kicked a field goal. The Raiders were up 3-0 and Denver drove down the field and looked like it was a certainty that they would score and go up 7-3 when Rod Woodson made his season saving play.
Longest int return all time by a 37 year old, 98 yards

Im a raiders fan and went to a broncos home game when they played the raiders broncos fans didnt do shit.
+ROXKSTARPRO Ha. Bronco fans are a bunch of pussies. Won't do shit to a Raider fan in Denver.
A Steeler saves the Raiders season.
that was rod woodson
I was there
I remember that. It did turn there season I remember thinking before that play fuck same ole bull shit.
Charles Woodson not Rod. Rod Woodson played for pittsburgh.
Rod Woodson also played for the raiders. Him and Charles both played on the raiders at one point
Wrong super bowl 2002 was rams vs patriots
Gavin Reed there referring to the season they went to the sb which was the 2002 season
we had the best coach and the best QB just a bad owner.and that my friends is raiders history .until al davis died we were reborn.and from the ashes we have rebuild and we will go back to dominating the donkeys ,chargers and chefs
Raiders have the al Davis curse
George Perez stfu they suck
+BlkAuDiS401 If by curse you mean 5 AFC title Trophies 3 Super Bowl Trophies and 11 Raiders in the HOF...and the only team to play in the super bowl in every decade with the exception of the 90's is that the curse you are referring too?
What a true moron you are Perez--dumdass kid.
They should have won the super bowl
Oakland Raiders outsmarted the Denver Broncos in 2002
Hell yeah thats watsup donkeys
Gannon tied the record; his pass to beat it was a duck, haha.
Denver is no match for oakland
Ummmmmm, rigged, lmao, why in hell would a qb throw it near him, lol throws directly at him! Lmao #RN4L
