A little tip!: after inserting the cup, try rotating it a bit. If it rotates freely, that means it's well positioned, you won't feel it and it won't leak. This saved me a lot of guesswork when I first started using menstrual cups. :P
Actually my only fear is that when I take it out the content of the cup will flow on my hand, or that I get my clothes dirty with blood, or that I accidentally drop the cup in the toilet. I know myself, I'm extremely clumsy
Maybe try a different brand like the Femmycycle? That one is shaped to be non-spill, even if it's turned upside-down. Although you shouldn't worry, the cup comes out fairly vertical and I've never had a spill.
I was someone who said menstrual cups were fucking disgusting for yeeears. Now they're all I use! But I'll admit there's a learning curve. Took me at least 4 months to totally get the hang of it.
OH. I do have a pretty big negative thought on them though. If you have to pee badly, like REALLY bad, for whatever reason you cant pee with the cup in. I was sitting there for like 5 minutes waiting and just *couldnt* pee until I took it out. I googled it and apparently its a common thing
Avocadhoes I can pee while mine's in but it's extremely slow and when I go to remove it the little left in my bladder releases on my hand sometimes...that's the only thing I find gross lol
I can't stop staring at how well that shirt and your tattoo work together. Anyway, it's getting to the point where I've seen enough people talk about these to convince me to try them. Also, your opening statement was perfect!
Menstrual cups were about twenty years ahead of sanitary napkins. Though the modern design of the menstrual cup wasn't introduced until 1940's, they've still been around a long ass time.
I started using the menstrual cup almost a year ago, and I will NEVER go back to pads and tampons! It is such an amazing feeling to know that once its up there you don't have to worry about any leakage (and sending your ruined panties to the period graveyard)! Im so glad that more and more people are becoming open minded to the idea and giving it a shot! Thanks for spreading the word!!
I will eventually try a menstrual cup, but I just recently switched to cloth pads and omg it's life changing. If you're scared to switch to the cup right now, try this method first! It can be pricey but they last a lifetime!!
My first ones I bought from Precious Stars, it was expensive to ship to me (US) but so worth it. She has very good quality ones and great prices. I also got a few on amazon from a seller called "Wegreeco" But honestly for the price and size it wasn't that great. They do the job and have helped me add to my collection, but I will be purchasing from Precious Stars or a seller on Etsy if I purchase anymore. :)
This is extremely helpful. I love all your videos. I have a friend who suggested this to me last year and she sang the praises of her "Diva Cup" a brand here in the US. I was iffy and kept watching more videos and learning more and I feel I am ready to make the switch. Tampons leak out the sides since I had two kids even if they aren't soaked and my flow is so heavy the heaviest pads don't protect my underwear. I have to change 6+ times a day pad or tampons and have ruined countless underwear. I'm just tired of the money wasting. Thanks so much for being as graphic and detailed as you are, it truly helps and now I feel confident I can do it ☺️
Probably you already know, but keep in mind that you can find a special size for women who had a vaginal delivery. I don't know if Diva Cup does it but some companies do it, I'm sure ;)
+Elisa Pajer yeah most companies make like size 1 (pre birth) and size 2 (post birth) I'm doing tons of research. Buy a few brands and see which one is the best for me :)
So question. I’ve been wanting to convert to this for a while now but I need to know something. Can I count on it if I have a very heavy flow for the first two days and because of this I always were pads with my tampons because I WILL have leaks and I use the biggest tampons.
I love my Diva Cup! My aunt mentioned it a few years ago to me while I was living with her, and it's honestly been life changing. I used to change a super tampon every 45 minutes and wear two pads during my heavy days and now (when I actually get my period) I only need to change it every two hours or so. When I first started using it, I made sure to wear a pad to make sure that it wasn't going to leak. I buy a new one every year though cause I find it gets a yellowed tinge after a few uses.
That's pretty much it :) I like the illusion of it being clean (even though I know it's been sanitized) when I'm putting something up my vagina for 12 weeks out of the year. Especially where they're super affordable. I'll spend 35$ US every year rather than 20$ every month!
You could try soaking it in hydrogen peroxide, it definitely helps. I have experienced this, too. Another option is to buy an opaque/coloured cup (clear ones get stained more easily)
I think one of the most awesome things is that they don't leak like tampons do after a while. obviously if you've had the cup in for a bit longer it acts like a barrier and might overfill in which case you have to be careful taking it out and do it over the toilet in case blood just comes gushing out but IT DOES NOT LEAK when you're going about your day, even if it does overfill.
I have mooncup and I can honestly say it was life changing for me. Even though that sounds stupid it's so true! I'm slowly but surely getting my friends to try cups too and they are loving them
Don't worry, I have been using the menstrual cup for about two years now. Best choice I have made in my entire life. I have never had to by tampons or pads anymore. By the way I remember pinching myself like the first and the second time I inserted it only. After that it all went fine. Oh and for making sure not to feel it at all, I cut the little tale (how do I call it?) and it is now super confortable, you might wanna try it.
I’m 15 years old (and a virgin with a strong pelvic floor because I am a dancer) and I was disgusted with the waste that disposable pads and tampons produced and how expensive they were. Pads were uncomfortable and I was always super worried about them leaking, and tampons hurt to take out. So I decided to buy a menstrual cup (“The Hello Cup” in “Teen/xs”, because I live in NZ) I can leave it in for 12 hours and it’s holds 18ml. I just take it out and rinse it then put it back in. At the end of each cycle i sterilise it, either by boiling it or using Milton sterilising tablets (like for baby bottles). I use the punchdown fold to get it in, then it pops open once I kinda twist it a bit, and then it catches all the blood. it’s is firm enough to pop open well, but soft enough that it’s easy to take out. It doesn’t hurt to take out because I grow the stem then press the base to undo the suction, then use my finger to fold it and pull out. It’s great, and I almost forgot I’m on my period because you cant feel it and don’t think about it, and my cramps aren’t anywhere near as bad. It’s a great firmness! Firm enough to get in and pop open, but soft enough that it’s easy to get out. I love it so much, and I find sleeping much more comfortable with it in instead of wearing a pad.
I love you a little for this video. Totally love my cup. It's nice to see someone talk about periods and body parts with 0 shame or embarrassment. Awesome!
If you really feel like you need to clean when going to a public bathroom and you can't use the sink you could just wipe it off with a napkin or one of the wipes that Lunette sells that are specifically made to clean menstrual cups when you're out :)
its so amazing that you talk about stuff that other people would feel awkward about, but loads of people actually wonder about! and you sound so comfy and relaxed while talking about it! looooove it! :D
Not sure if anyone else said this or not, but one of the most important reasons to use a menstrual cup, is that pads and tampons have harmful chemicals in them. When you use them, the chemicals absorb into your bloodstream. Most people don't even know this, but it can really mess with you. Some studies suggest that they affect things like fertility and hormones. I use a Diva Cup and it's not bad at all.
I was hesitant to buy one, but you definitely convinced me! This was the most real video about menstrual cups that I have seen, big thumbs up for that.
I've used mine for almost 2 years. I'd never go back!!! I have traveled to a third world country and didn't have an issue with taking care of it!!!! people freak out for no reason. my periods are lighter and less cramps!!! I love mine. I talk about it whenever someone brings it up trying to bring it down.
it is worth it! i do have mine for 2 months now and i absolutly love it! on my last period i had to work 15 hours a day, where i had to run around a lot all day long and i was concerned that it would leak (had no time to go to the toilet more often than every 4-5 hours) and it did not leak at all! i had to clean it 2 a day, was super comfortable to wear - so i would never ever go back to regular tampons and pads instead! I hope this info is helpful for you :)
once you get the hang of it, it's amazing. I was travelling internationally for 3 weeks and didn't have to worry about bringing pads/tampons. just one little cup and I'm good for the whole period. also great if you have a job that has you running around for hours and you can't stop to change your pad/tampon every 4 hours, 12 hours is recommended how long to leave the cup in, and that's easily to handle! it varies with people obviously, some have a heavier/faster flow and need to clean it more, but it's sooooo much easier.
I feel like one important disclaimer is that it does not work for everyone and that there's nothing wrong with you if you try it and end up not liking it. Other than that this was a really great and informative video!
As a man I'd like to say that we applaud these devices because for some reason my wifes period is always some huge surprise to her even after 20+ years and she is always unprepared... and it's always the guys that have to run to the store and God help you if they don't have the ones your woman likes in stock!
Absolutely love how you talk about it without euphemisms :D "You just dig around until you find it" Yess! (Awesome tattoo btw - love how it combines with the shirt!)
Because some women find that seeing the blood in complete liquid form is gross. In a pad or tampon, the blood is absorbed in to something. The diva cup, the blood is just filling the cup. That's what I thought was gross. But I'm not bashing it, I use it too, but that's initially why I thought it sounded gross.
No it's not.. I use tampons that have an insertion thingie so my hands don't get covered in blood. I imagine there would be blood everywhere with a menstrual cup.
You shouldn't get blood everywhere if you remove it correctly and frequently enough (for me that is every 12 hours, but everyone is different). I remove it over the toilet ( like I just used the bathroom) or in the shower so it's easy clean up. Also, most women who have an average 5 day period will only expel 10ml per day, which is NOT a lot ( again, everyone has a different flow, so it can vary). Pads and tampons are absorbent, which spreads the liquid over a greater area to wick it away from your skin, but by spreading it out, it makes it look like there is a lot of blood. The first time I used my cup, I was worried something was wrong because it didn't look like a normal amount of blood, but a lot less. My cup had made me realize how insignificant a menstrual cycle actually is, and how comfortable I can actually be on my period. It takes getting used to, but I won't go back to tampons or pads now.
i usually get a little bit of blood on my two fingers but it´s easy to wash off, and since i change mine over the toilet or in the shower i don´t see a problem
There isn't blood everywhere.... the cup will "scrape" some of the remains when you insert it and (if you don't have a huge flow that requires actually emptying throughout the day) you can use your finger to clean around the base of the cup/your wall whatever little amount remains... the only way you'll make a mess is if you squeeze the cup too violently and/or remove it too violently and/or it happens to kind of jump out of you/your grip upon exit (more likely to happen when your new to it) emptying in the shower is handy for starting out at least :)
I freaking love these!! I have had my own for over a year now. A tip for testing if the cup is properly in: get hold of the bottom of the cup (or the nob, I have cut my own compelety off as I could feel it) and twist it. Usually when mine is not properly in, it just pops into place when I twist it. You also can disinfect the cup with disinfectant, just find the right disinfectant for silicone. Menstrual cups are so great, they don't dry you out, they are super easy and quick after you get the hang of it! As for the public restroom thing people are worried over: where I live in the newer bathrooms there are sinks in the stall. But no worries if you empty it out once a day without rinsing it, as long as you handle the cup with clean hands! Also the maker of my menstrual cup (Lunette, a Finnish company) manufactures wipes that you can use (like baby wipes, but especially designed for the menstrual cup) when travelling etc. Oh, and the great thing about menstrual cups is, that you can put in it before your period starts. So if you know that in a couple of days you'll be having it, and your period usually starts suddenly, you just put in there and remember to clean it sometimes. No accidents then! The only trouble I have with it is when I'm going out partying. I find it extremely difficult to remember and put it in correctly when intoxicated, so I have to do a plan for the night (also, hate the restrooms in bars, so unsanitary!) so I empty it before leaving home etc.
has anyone changed to using a cup after using pads or not liking wearing tampons? I always seem to feel the tampon, sometimes it really hurts (like really really bad cramps)
I didn't like wearing tampons at all and used pads all the time, but as Katrin says once the menstrual cup is positioned in the right way you really don't feel it :)
Tampons were a pretty big hassle for me but I am absolutely in love with my cup! Shoving a dry cotton tampon is just uncomfortable whereas the cup is smooth and easy to insert. The pinch down and the "7" folds work even better for me, no lube needed. The fold shown in the video is the so-called C-fold.
I've had my period for 5,5 years (wow I feel old now) and always used pads. In the beginning I tried tampons but I could feel it and it was just too uncomfortable. Now I'm on the pill so I get my period less than 5 times a year and it's a very small amount. If my flow was heavier I'd try tampons or the menstrual cup but I probably won't any time soon
Linn Andersson I know that sensation of feeling old (have had my period for about nine years now) I got an IUD now, so I guess my flow will be so light a cup wouldn't make a lot of sense thanks for the info :)
I am so glad someone is making a video about this. I randomly chose to try the menstrual cup like two or three years ago and I FELL IN LOVE. It is life changing. It's healthier, less waste and much better in general. Granted, sometimes you may have to use liners or pads to compensate for leakage until you find a cup that fits you perfectly.
i want to try it but i have a really small vagina, like really small to the point that if i dont have sex for two-three months it hurts like hell when i try to do it again. i have to use mini tampons and even they are really uncomfortable for me. so im scared that this will be to painful and uncomfortable
Like the previous comments said there are different sizes (depends on the brand on how many they offer). There are also different folds that make it easier to insert. I personally couldn't work with the usually recommended C-fold since it was too difficult to insert like that for me, but the "origami fold" works great for me since it makes the cup a bit "slimmer". :) You can check out Precious stars pads if you'd like, she has a video with different folds and a looot of other helpful videos that helped me when I got started haha
Hi Katrin!! I started my TH-cam channel a few months ago and I just have to say I LOOOOVE your content and energy. Thank you so much for advocating for a compassionate, more sustainable planet. I hope to have a big reach like you have someday. Keep up the amazing work!! Love&Peace, Marina
So cool you're spreading the word on menstrual cups! I've used one for >10 years and I'd never ever go back. Has saved so much money, nothing going to landfill & just the convenience of changing it once in the morning & once in the evening. Didn't like the first one I tried (moon cup) but ladycup was the one for me. 😊
I used one for the first time this last cycle. And my husband and I went out to eat, and I felt like it was coming out so I went to take it out my self and I SPILLED IT EVERYWHERE. Thankfully not on my clothes, but it was on the floor and toilet. I was in the bathroom forever trying to clean it up. Sooo embarrassing lol. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE my cup.
Precious Star Pads has a fantastic channel that goes into depth about the different kind of ReUseable Menstrual Products (RUMPS) and the benefits of each. Love love love that channel
What a great video, women need honest opinions and advice on products such as these. I have never used one before, considered it a few years ago when I went swimming very often and always felt so self conscious whilst on my period i would 9 out of 10 times cancel my session. Just ordered one so lets give it a go! Thanks Katrin and more videos like this 👍🏼
Great video! I loved how you talked about this topic (still a taboo) naturally, the video doesn't get awkward AT ALL. I will use it in the future, the most important thing imho is that it's eco-friendly :)
I live with other people (i'm in university), I would love to try it but how do i boil a menstrual cup in our kitchen without grossing them out? Send help women.
Agree with previous comment haha, if people find it gross then they need to grow up. It's not like they are going to eat your period. When you rinse it and even wash it with soap or whatever in the bathroom it's completely clean. Then when you boil it bacteria go away etc. But worst case just do it when no one's around. :)
There are sterilizers available. They are made out of silicone and foldable and as far as I know you just have to put in your cup, add a little water and put the whole thing in the microwave/oven. Just google menstrual cup sterilizer ;)
I love this video! It makes me happy seeing people talk about menstrual cups because it's videos like this that made me try it out and even though I still have some tampons and pads from before I had the cup I'm never buying another box again ☺️
How many would you say that you need? I'm considering buying a menstrual cup, but could I get by on just one, or should I have two that I can change between, so a different one every day for example.
I'm using mine right now and it's just the most amazing thing ever. My cramps are awful on the first day but after that I could probably forget I was on my period at all because it's just so comfortable that I don't even feel it. Also I love that I can sleep with it in and wake up to perfectly clean sheets lol. I'd highly recommend everyone *give them a try* and if it doesn't work for you then that's fine! They don't work for everyone. But at least try it! :) Changed my LIFE! Also the quick little intro made me like you a lot so I'll go check out your channel now haha
"I don't care what gender you are but if you have periods, you need this" (Of course for all those pre-transitioning boys out there and much more genders) So nice of you
I've contemplated whether or not i should try a menstrual cup for like a year. At this point the only thing holding me back is i've read/heard about some people where the suction was so strong they were really struggling to get it out or that its gets so far up they couldn't reach it and had to try squeeze using their downstairs muscles (don't know their name in english lmao) so they could get reach it with their fingers and get it out. idk it's just worrying me.
I use my vagina-muscles now too. It just makes it a lot easier to get out :) And it's good practice hah! But to "loosen" the suction all you need to do is push one of the sides. If the suction is on 100%, just pulling straight out could hurt a little. x
Depends on the cup too, hun. If you know your vagina is kinda wideset get a wider cup etc. ("It's not my fault I have a heavy flow and a wide-set vagina!")
Love this, and love your trans-inclusive language!! I was afraid to use tampons most of my life and after a short stint with trying them and after having a few people tell me about how much they loved menstrual cups, I saw the Diva Cup on sale and also worked at Whole Foods at the time so I got an additional 20% off and decided to try it. I even went swimming on my period for the first time thanks to it. It's truly life-changing!
taking mines out bothers me because it's gross. Besides that I'm fine, you maybe just need a different style cup I know the feel of the cup or ridges can irritate some women
I had the same experience. at first it was fine but after a few periods I ended up being in so much pain within the first couple days of my period that I had to stop wearing it all together. what brand of cup did you get if you don't mind I ask? I'm wondering if I need to try another brand. I had the diva cup
I've seen a few videos about these menstrual cups, but after watching yours..I need to buy one!! Thank you Katrin, you've completely put my mind at ease and answered every question I had about these. Love all your videos!
I imagine this on the employee toilet when you have to rinse it... going out of the cabin with bloody hands and cup, while a colleague is washing her hands ....? never ever. and meanwhile it drops out of me... ? urghs....
The thing is you don't have to change it/rinse it as often as you do tampons or pads. I usually clean it before I leave for work in the morning and then again when I get home at night. And when I was using tampons I used to have to change my tampon every 2 hours or so. It's so amazing
Great video! :) Another great factor of the cup: some women (like myself) are allergic to the products that are in the pads and tampons to "keep you dry all day", "slip in more easily" and "avoid the smell" and shit like that. I don't know if you have this kind of tampon in Europe, but you can't find cotton-only tampons in Brazil, so you can imagine how my periods were the definition of hell. The cup has changed everything!
These have been around centuries I've tried to explain them to the ladies I was with when they would complain about the price of other products and they weren't having it. P.S. I started watching because your honesty is awesome.
I've been binge-watching your videos all day and I absolutely love them! This one definitely made me laugh in parts, but I appreciate you honestly and am definitely thinking about trying them out now. Thanks!
Menstrual cups are an absolute game changer - i feel in control of my period rather than it being in control of me! I feel this needs to be spoken about more!
Thanks for doing a video about these! Furthermore, thanks for being so blunt and mature about the topic. I've been interested in these for a while! It's about damn time I give it a try. Thanks! :)
Haha the pinching! I've had that too. It gets easier the more you use it though :) To anyone who's unsure or scared: It's all a matter of experience. Take your time with it, keep trying! Practice when you don't have to leave the house. There are so many tricks how to make it unfold if you're having issues with that. You can try to rotate it or try a different fold. Running cold water over the cup also helps. Also make sure you have the right size for your body. I'm so glad I didnt give up on the cup when I struggled in the beginning. They truly are life-changing!
life changing! The Femmy Cycle is my favorite, I used to use the diva cup. the difference is the flexability of the plastic. Either way they are so much better than pads and tampons for women and for the environment.
I love love love my cup! One helpful tip for people who are first trying it out is to practice putting it in, wearing it, and taking it out when you're NOT on your period first. Because it's silicone, it won't hurt to take out even if it's empty, unlike a dry tampon, and this lets you get the hang of the whole process with no mess :) It will also let you determine if you want to keep, trim, or cut off the stem. People with low-sitting cervices might find that the stem pokes them when the cup is in, and it is totally ok to cut it off right at the base if that's the case. I would recommend trying it with the stem before cutting it off, though, as some people really prefer having it.
Thank you for posting this video! I just bought and tried a menstrual cup for the first time a couple weeks ago and though it took a couple of days to get used to, it is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I have the LENA cup and it's amazing.
you just made my life easier thank you !! i was searching for some tips to be more confortable during periods and your video was the one ! it works great with we even tho i need to change it 4-5 time a day
"I've had bigger things than this in my vagina before" this is one of many reasons as to why I bloody love you. You're so funny and real.
HAHAHHAAHHAHA "BLOODY love you" xD
Oh god I didn't even realise I threw a really bad pun in there 😂
That pun was the best. Period ;D
+jaydellCreative oh god i love this thread hahaha
tampon thread? XD (too far?)
A little tip!: after inserting the cup, try rotating it a bit. If it rotates freely, that means it's well positioned, you won't feel it and it won't leak. This saved me a lot of guesswork when I first started using menstrual cups. :P
I will remember this for next month! :D
Yep! And it will get it open if it's not 😁
Actually my only fear is that when I take it out the content of the cup will flow on my hand, or that I get my clothes dirty with blood, or that I accidentally drop the cup in the toilet. I know myself, I'm extremely clumsy
i have had mistakes to learn from but its all been worth it.
you could tie a little string or something :) and/or have a glove lol
I'm extremely clumsy too. The key is lots of toilet paper. I've been using my cup for almost 2 years now and I've only dropped it in a toilet once.
Maybe try a different brand like the Femmycycle? That one is shaped to be non-spill, even if it's turned upside-down. Although you shouldn't worry, the cup comes out fairly vertical and I've never had a spill.
Elisa Pajer mine never ever ever fills up fully and I have a heavy flow 👼🏼
Her chest piece is so beautiful and intricate it's distracting 😍
Brooke Leigh right!? 😍
Het shirt looks made for that chest piece.
Glad I'm not the only one 😂
I was someone who said menstrual cups were fucking disgusting for yeeears. Now they're all I use! But I'll admit there's a learning curve. Took me at least 4 months to totally get the hang of it.
OH. I do have a pretty big negative thought on them though. If you have to pee badly, like REALLY bad, for whatever reason you cant pee with the cup in. I was sitting there for like 5 minutes waiting and just *couldnt* pee until I took it out. I googled it and apparently its a common thing
+Brittni Kristine hasn't happened that way for me but everyone's anatomy is different so the urethral opening might be blocked, hm!
+Brittni Kristine Your cup may be too firm for you. You might want to try a softer cup
Avocadhoes I can pee while mine's in but it's extremely slow and when I go to remove it the little left in my bladder releases on my hand sometimes...that's the only thing I find gross lol
a softer cup may help :)
the v neck flatters your chest tattoo so much
Morag Sharf omg hes
Yes* haha
Menstrual cup = life changing. Used mine for a few cycles now. Never looking back. I wish I knew about them years ago.
I can't stop staring at how well that shirt and your tattoo work together. Anyway, it's getting to the point where I've seen enough people talk about these to convince me to try them. Also, your opening statement was perfect!
watch the tampon stock just die in the next few years because of these lol
These have been around longer than tampons and pads .-.
+Caitlyn Osborne ppl havent been aware of it if thats the case.
Menstrual cups were about twenty years ahead of sanitary napkins. Though the modern design of the menstrual cup wasn't introduced until 1940's, they've still been around a long ass time.
i hope so!
i know, everyone thinks these things are new, lol. i saw these things at cvs in the 90s it was called the diva cup, lol

They do the job and have helped me add to my collection, but I will be purchasing from Precious Stars or a seller on Etsy if I purchase anymore. :)
You can also make your own with pretty basic sewing skills.
Thank you for adding the last part about no matter what gender you are and you get periods THANK YOU
I started using them at age 18, i am turning 25 soon and i am really happy with mine. I use the mooncup.
And thank you for talking about the topic of periods and cups, its still way to much of a taboo.
Did it changed color?
HiLesley-Ann Regular use of these cups leads to loosen the vagina??

+Elisa Pajer yeah most companies make like size 1 (pre birth) and size 2 (post birth) I'm doing tons of research. Buy a few brands and see which one is the best for me :)
I have the diva cup as well and I love it. It's a good product, not too thin, very good quality.
I love how open and real you are. You are so down to earth!
yessss another converted! love this video, keeping it real for lyfe xx
So question. I’ve been wanting to convert to this for a while now but I need to know something. Can I count on it if I have a very heavy flow for the first two days and because of this I always were pads with my tampons because I WILL have leaks and I use the biggest tampons.

Yeah the yellow color is from the blood, it doesn't affect the use of it but I get that it might feel fresher to get a new one every now and then :)
That's pretty much it :) I like the illusion of it being clean (even though I know it's been sanitized) when I'm putting something up my vagina for 12 weeks out of the year.
Especially where they're super affordable. I'll spend 35$ US every year rather than 20$ every
month!
You could try soaking it in hydrogen peroxide, it definitely helps. I have experienced this, too. Another option is to buy an opaque/coloured cup (clear ones get stained more easily)
Oooh, that's a great idea!
I didn't realize they made cups that weren't clear 🙈 whoops. Thank you! I'll look into it
No problem, I've been wanting to get a larger and firmer cup and getting excited about what colour I would get haha :D I love my small Yuuki though.
I love how open you are about this
I think one of the most awesome things is that they don't leak like tampons do after a while. obviously if you've had the cup in for a bit longer it acts like a barrier and might overfill in which case you have to be careful taking it out and do it over the toilet in case blood just comes gushing out but IT DOES NOT LEAK when you're going about your day, even if it does overfill.
I've been using my menstrual cup for about 9 months or so and I absolutely loved it! It did change my life when I'm on my period!
I have mooncup and I can honestly say it was life changing for me. Even though that sounds stupid it's so true!
I'm slowly but surely getting my friends to try cups too and they are loving them
alltid undrat om det är värt att köpa o hur de funkar osv. tänker absolut beställa en nu! tack för en skitbra video!
Do you not still need to wear a panty liner in case of leaks? If not, how do you avoid needing them? (I love my cup, but still wear liners too)
I’m 15 years old (and a virgin with a strong pelvic floor because I am a dancer) and I was disgusted with the waste that disposable pads and tampons produced and how expensive they were.
Life changing! It's so amazing!
I love you a little for this video. Totally love my cup. It's nice to see someone talk about periods and body parts with 0 shame or embarrassment. Awesome!
What about when youre out and about, do you empty it in a public bathroom ?
Yeah in the toilet :) It's not the end of the world if you don't rinse it between every insertion.
Yeah! But wash your hands before!
***** okay I was just wondering :)) ta
If you really feel like you need to clean when going to a public bathroom and you can't use the sink you could just wipe it off with a napkin or one of the wipes that Lunette sells that are specifically made to clean menstrual cups when you're out :)
You can keep it in for up to 8hrs, but if you do need to change it in that time when you are out you can just clean it with some tissue, (after use.)
its so amazing that you talk about stuff that other people would feel awkward about, but loads of people actually wonder about! and you sound so comfy and relaxed while talking about it! looooove it! :D
Thank you so much for making this video, you definitely convinced me to buy this ❤️ sending you love from Germany
YES GIRL! I love seeing people talk about this topic. They're a complete life changer. I love my cup.
When I was living 3rd world for a year I felt so lucky to have mine! Still easy to clean and stay clean!
+Ashcat Marmac that's exactly how I felt too!
Got mine today... After I watched your video I thought I'd give it a try!
Thank you for being so honest and open-minded about topics like these.
been thinking about this and maybe it's worth it?
it totally is. just needs a bit getting used to
It is!! I love mine :)
it is worth it! i do have mine for 2 months now and i absolutly love it! on my last period i had to work 15 hours a day, where i had to run around a lot all day long and i was concerned that it would leak (had no time to go to the toilet more often than every 4-5 hours) and it did not leak at all! i had to clean it 2 a day, was super comfortable to wear - so i would never ever go back to regular tampons and pads instead!
I love mine. No waste and you can keep it in until you get home from work or out and about. It feels much better than tampons.
I feel like one important disclaimer is that it does not work for everyone and that there's nothing wrong with you if you try it and end up not liking it. Other than that this was a really great and informative video!
Well obviously you're free to use whatever you want. Feel like that is understood when watching reviews on the internet ^^
As a man I'd like to say that we applaud these devices because for some reason my wifes period is always some huge surprise to her even after 20+ years and she is always unprepared... and it's always the guys that have to run to the store and God help you if they don't have the ones your woman likes in stock!
For some reason?? Get a clue, periods being 'regular' is not actually the norm lol it can come between 20-45 days since the last one.
Wait don't your wife keep some spare tampons/pads? I always have a full pack of pads in my house!
+Mewesical Some girls don't experience pain either geez.
Absolutely love how you talk about it without euphemisms :D "You just dig around until you find it" Yess!
(Awesome tattoo btw - love how it combines with the shirt!)
Why would you find it gross when it's the same with pads or tampones...
Linn Andersson I know that sensation of feeling old (have had my period for about nine years now)
I got an IUD now, so I guess my flow will be so light a cup wouldn't make a lot of sense
thanks for the info :)
way better than tampons
There are different sizes of Cups. ^^
There some brands of menstrual cups which make different sizes so there may be a small one out there for you.
oh i didnt know that. thanks to the both of you :D
:) You can check out Precious stars pads if you'd like, she has a video with different folds and a looot of other helpful videos that helped me when I got started haha
same here, you will be fine. I got the freedom cup (the green one).
Hi Katrin!!
I started my TH-cam channel a few months ago and I just have to say I LOOOOVE your content and energy. Thank you so much for advocating for a compassionate, more sustainable planet. I hope to have a big reach like you have someday.
Keep up the amazing work!!
Love&Peace,
Marina
now we know she's able to afford all those tattoos
+Sil Hoekstra mmhm
So cool you're spreading the word on menstrual cups! I've used one for >10 years and I'd never ever go back. Has saved so much money, nothing going to landfill & just the convenience of changing it once in the morning & once in the evening. Didn't like the first one I tried (moon cup) but ladycup was the one for me. 😊
PERFECTION. the content and you
Love this! I love the positive, realistic, honest, and informative content in this video!
Don't feel embarrassed! It can easily happen. You just have to get used to it. :) xx
Love how raw u are!!! Was so curious and every video was sugar coating the process! THANKS!!
Ive never worn a tampon so I dont know how far its supposed to go😂 I do really wanna try it! It sounds better than a tampon or a pad tbh!
you should be able to feel the end with your finger. but don't keep it no too low that its uncomfortable or the stem stick out.
Precious Star Pads has a fantastic channel that goes into depth about the different kind of ReUseable Menstrual Products (RUMPS) and the benefits of each. Love love love that channel
You can actually leave it in for 12 hours
Yep
What a great video, women need honest opinions and advice on products such as these.
I have never used one before, considered it a few years ago when I went swimming very often and always felt so self conscious whilst on my period i would 9 out of 10 times cancel my session.
Just ordered one so lets give it a go! Thanks Katrin and more videos like this 👍🏼
"Aww shit it's gonna get lost in there." EPIC
Great video! I loved how you talked about this topic (still a taboo) naturally, the video doesn't get awkward AT ALL.
I will use it in the future, the most important thing imho is that it's eco-friendly :)
I live with other people (i'm in university), I would love to try it but how do i boil a menstrual cup in our kitchen without grossing them out? Send help women.
From experience, since it's only once a month: do it very late at night when the kitchen is empty lol
If you're living with adults hopefully they will understand your situation :)
Agree with previous comment haha, if people find it gross then they need to grow up. It's not like they are going to eat your period. When you rinse it and even wash it with soap or whatever in the bathroom it's completely clean. Then when you boil it bacteria go away etc. But worst case just do it when no one's around. :)
buy a small saucepan of your own to boil it in :)
Nope you just need one! :) Put it in, take it out, rinse, put it back in :) Good to go!
"I don't care what gender you are but if you have periods, you need this" (Of course for all those pre-transitioning boys out there and much more genders) So nice of you
Have it and LOVE it!Really is life changing. Thanks for this. Most people don't even know this is an option.
just in time for my period
Same here
Har funderat länge.. Du har nu övertalat mig 😄👍🏻 menskopp nästa!
If the suction is on 100%, just pulling straight out could hurt a little. x
***** oh yeah i didn't realize you could simply break the suction like that. Thank you for replying :)
I would say that you just need patience in this situation. But it never happened to me.
I really hate using mine.. it just makes me feel super irritated and taking it out was really stressful. Anyone else the same?
Maybe you need a smaller size
taking mines out bothers me because it's gross. Besides that I'm fine, you maybe just need a different style cup I know the feel of the cup or ridges can irritate some women
I love mine... Maybe try a different size or form, some of them have a different "knob" at the end to take it out :)
I had the same experience. at first it was fine but after a few periods I ended up being in so much pain within the first couple days of my period that I had to stop wearing it all together. what brand of cup did you get if you don't mind I ask? I'm wondering if I need to try another brand. I had the diva cup
i'm on the same boat as you. mine frustrates me so much :(
I've seen a few videos about these menstrual cups, but after watching yours..I need to buy one!! Thank you Katrin, you've completely put my mind at ease and answered every question I had about these. Love all your videos!
"the peeing is FLAWLESS" loll
i love how honest and helpful this video is
I imagine this on the employee toilet when you have to rinse it... going out of the cabin with bloody hands and cup, while a colleague is washing her hands ....? never ever. and meanwhile it drops out of me... ? urghs....
Hahah none of this is necessary. Empty it in the toilet, put it back in, wipe your hands and go wash. Done.
+Katrin Berndt hmmmmmmmmmmm.... maybe I should give it a try . eeeeek 😁😁
pro tip: grab a paper towel and wet it a bit before you go to the stall :D
I just time everything. The cup lasts like 12 hours without having to be removed, so I don't often find myself in that position.
The thing is you don't have to change it/rinse it as often as you do tampons or pads. I usually clean it before I leave for work in the morning and then again when I get home at night. And when I was using tampons I used to have to change my tampon every 2 hours or so. It's so amazing
Great video! :)
Another great factor of the cup: some women (like myself) are allergic to the products that are in the pads and tampons to "keep you dry all day", "slip in more easily" and "avoid the smell" and shit like that. I don't know if you have this kind of tampon in Europe, but you can't find cotton-only tampons in Brazil, so you can imagine how my periods were the definition of hell. The cup has changed everything!
well...thats was quit interesing - and i'm a man... i will tell my wife about this... thx... never heart about this befor... ;)
Great! :)
These have been around centuries I've tried to explain them to the ladies I was with when they would complain about the price of other products and they weren't having it. P.S. I started watching because your honesty is awesome.
tampons should be banned in favor of this thing lel.
I love how you be true about everything 🙌 A huge thumbs up for that.
You are so real in this video and I find that incredibly refreshing. Thank you!
Best video yet on the menstrual cup. Thanks for being so blunt.
I use the Meluna. I agree with you, Kat, absolutely life changing! Great video!
I've been binge-watching your videos all day and I absolutely love them! This one definitely made me laugh in parts, but I appreciate you honestly and am definitely thinking about trying them out now. Thanks!
You're great, Katrin! Also I use a menstrual cup exclusively and it's awesome! Bit of a learning curve at first but...man, so worth it.
Menstrual cups are an absolute game changer - i feel in control of my period rather than it being in control of me! I feel this needs to be spoken about more!
I've been a little skeptical about it for a while but you finally helped me make my decision to give it try. Thank you for the video 👌
currently waiting on my cloth pads and menstrual cup kit. sooo flipping excited!!
LIFE CHANGING YES ! i've been using it since february, it's great. It's easy. It's worth it. YOU GO GIIIIRLS !
omg your tattoo is flawless ! and the colors are beautiful
Thanks for doing a video about these! Furthermore, thanks for being so blunt and mature about the topic. I've been interested in these for a while! It's about damn time I give it a try. Thanks! :)
this is so kind and thoughtful ! haha love the intro and all of the info! been avoiding these for the exact same reason. Thanks Katrin
Haha the pinching! I've had that too. It gets easier the more you use it though :)
To anyone who's unsure or scared: It's all a matter of experience.
I'm so glad you're talking about this. I bought my cups last year and I will never, EVER use a tampon again. The menstrual cup changed my life.
I converted to one last year : Best thing I ever did! No horrible smells or disgusting pads.
Fantastic video - thanks for posting!
Absolutely love it! I have mine for almost a year and have never leaked. It's so easy to use.
I just ordered one yesterday! Love the video and your opinion about it. Thanks for taking away some of the fear I had❤️
Thank you for posting this video! I just bought and tried a menstrual cup for the first time a couple weeks ago and though it took a couple of days to get used to, it is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I have the LENA cup and it's amazing.
I love how you get so personal with your viewers ^^ i'll be trying this out for sure :)
Awesome. Thank you for giving great information and not shying away from a thorough video on a fairly squeamish topic.
you just made my life easier thank you !! i was searching for some tips to be more confortable during periods and your video was the one ! it works great with we even tho i need to change it 4-5 time a day
your intro won me over immediately. Continuing to watch
