@@najodo5209 Oh, 100%. This was in no way a complaint about her current content bc I really enjoy everything she posts. She puts so much thought and effort into all her video concepts and execution, which was something I always liked about these videos. She has this way of presenting information regarding menstruation that feels relaxed, something that is in contrast to the way most people normally talk about it (as a joke or in hushed tones) and really helped normalize open and frank discussions about periods (for me, anyway). It would be super cool if she ever decides to return to the period theme, but it's also fantastic that her channel has been able to evolve and expand over the years. This has been my long winded way of saying same, I guess, lol!
@@lavenderhazel5125 i don't know how many dramas have you seen in beauty comunities (i only know the James Charles thing and Jefrey Star's personality). But i have seen far more fights and polémic around gaming comunities (some can become very violent), film critics and skeptic comunity.
Omg the first time I used a tampon I was trying to pull it out and I was about to cry because it wouldn't come out LOL I didn't know it took a bit of strength.
In public, I tend to empty cup, wipe it out with toilet paper, rinse with a water bottle, dry with toilet paper and pop it back in and just give it a good clean at home. The "boil as necessary" generally means at the beginning/end of your period give it a good boil to kill off any germs. I realise this is 2 years old but pro tip to others interested 😘
As a guy who has a lot of female friends this is really cool to know what they go through, and learn. I have always known a period is painful, but I never really thought about how inconvenient bleeding endlessly is. And as a dude I apologize for all those immature boys who think a period is gross.
Vision Noire if they aren't comfortable with periods they aren't a man. they're a boy. I don't care how old they are lol. you're a child if you get uncomfortable with periods. especially if you're OK with putting your penis in the same hole. but oh NO! BLEEDING ISN'T SEXY URRGHHH!!... I have no tolerance for that kinda nonsense lol.
Unlike most women, sometimes I bleed for like, 14 days straight ( due to my birth control. I’m fine, no need to worry ) so I. All depends. But usually days 3-7 and then like 11-13.
I love how open you are without any weirdness. Its so natural and you don't preface everything with "sorry if this is tmi". I love unapologetic honesty, and you have got that down pat.
Honestly, this is the most comfortable video I've ever seen about fem hygiene. You're just so naturally chill that it didn't seem weird. I know it's one of the most natural things in the world and we shouldn't feel weird to talk about it, but people always make it a whole "thing"and it's awkward as fuk, but not you. I appreciate you're being so open and honest, it's refreshing, .no pun intended lolol. Thank you for your service ms Nygaard
Hi!! So some tips from a cup veteran: 1. Do NOT pull the cup out by the stem. The stem is there so you can gently rock it back and fourth to get it to a point where you can pinch the sides to break the seal. You have to keep it pinched the entire time you pull it out. 2. If the diva cup is a little too out of reach, there are hundreds of other brands you can try! Every vagina is different so your first cup probably won’t be your glass slipper. 3. When you boil, place it inside of a whisk so it doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot, it’ll keep it from burning 🔥 4. You can wipe the cup with toilet paper in public stalls and put it back in as long as your hands are clean and you wash it as soon as you can 🚰 & last but not least, the first fold the box was showing you is the punch down fold, when done correctly it’s 100x easier to put in rather than the c-fold. Happy cupping!!! 💓
YES! As for me, I actually cut the stem or else it would stick out. I guess I have a low cervix. x) I've always been curious to try the MeLuna cup, has anyone tried it and loved it? I actually do some kind of "7" fold with my cup. This one with the punch down fold are my favourites. If anyone is curious to know more about menstrual cups, check out the youtube channel Precious Stars Pads. The girl reviews so many different types of menstrual cups, it's really cool and she's the one who actually convinced me to get one. Been using the cup for about 4 years now and I love it! (Even though I still get surprised by that little punch in the gut you get when it pops open haha)
Honestly you just saved my life. I'm using a menstrual cup for the first time atm and getting it out for the first time was freaking me out, took me like 15 minutes cause I didn't know you had to keep it pinched the whole time 😥
Faith C I most likely have endometriosis so it’s insane to me that some people aren’t reminded that they’re on their period every second of it is crazy to me
I-well, I have to go to school on mine, but I also swim every day, and though I’d love to be lying in bed, I can attest to the fact, that at least for me, moving around and exercising really helps with discomfort.
Maggie Slater unfortunately the real world does not care if one has endo. No matter how your period is you still have to get up and go to work. It sucks but luckily there is treatment out there for endo and it helps a lot.
For sure my first time trying a tampon was TARIFYING so first of I already hate the idea of putting something open there so... I got it in there wrong and I could feel it and I had a panic attack
Same, but I’m getting my first cup soon. I’m trying to be more conscious of waste and spend less money, so a cup seems great and learning about it beforehand helps
I have a friend who has no acne, her skin never gets shiny, and her periods are painless and 4 days long. I envy the living shit out of her, yet again she struggles with her hair and eyelashes and all drying out. I guess that's why I should be happy with having oily skin and hair, despite the damn zits.
wow okay didn’t expect this to be so long: came back to this video after buying a diva cup for the first time. i’ve always been an avid tampon user, i can’t stand pads - they just seem so gross to me, so naturally i was pretty excited about this. one thing that really made me happy was the fact it can be left in for up to twelve hours. i was always so bad at taking tampons out on time (never left them in for more than eight hours though, don’t worry haha). the first time i tried the diva cup was a DISASTER. i didn’t know how to insert it properly, and after 40 minutes, when it eventually got in, i didnt push it far enough and when i walked i could feel it rotate. i was in so much pain and was ready to never touch a diva cup again. taking it out was arguably worse than putting it in. i was in so. much. pain. i eventually got it out after far, far too long, emptied & rinsed it, then turned to youtube for a better method. i came across one method that said to fold one side into the cup so it makes some sort of triangular shape, then insert - and that has been the best method ever!!! so easy! then, run your finger around the outside to make sure it’s all open and suctioned. to take it out, as funny as it sounds, you should start by pushing with your muscles like you’re gonna poop. you’ll start to feel the cup make its way out. once it’s out enough that you can feel all of the ring-things on the base of the cup, hold it in place as best you can while you run a finger up to break the seal. once you’ve broken the seal, keep your finger there, continue to push it out while guiding it with your finger. that has been the most painless and clean method for me, i hope it helps. sorry to be so... in depth ahah.
Thanks for the info. I just tried mine for the first time. Getting out was a nightmare! It took 10 minutes but felt like ages and I was ready to panic lol
I had a similar thing, the way they reccomend inserting it on the package was always so uncomfortable for me so i nearly quit on it, but similar to you, I was able to find a better way to use it. I've been using it for nearly 2 years now, and its amazing for me because I'm working towards a zero waste lifestyle, though removing it always freaks me out because I'm always scared it'll get stuck haha. As of now, it has never gotten stuck.
fritha krygsman haha it can't get stuck if you look up the anatamoy of down there it'll never get farther than your walls and you'll be able to push it out no need to worry!
All guys should be that mature about it! They often aren't, especially in their teens, but they should be. Tampons, pads, and cups are no more gross than toilet paper or underwear.
Wait this is not common? I thought as a couple in a serious relationship, you can talk about period causally. All my exes helped me getting my pads from the stores when I needed them.
I've gone backpacking on my period before. I LOVE the mountains and I love camping/hiking. Several times when we plan to go it ended up close to or right on my period, but I don't want to miss it so I just tough it out
Same with my first few periods but the more I went outside and moved around the less leaks and I was a bit uncomfortable but it wasnt bad. Two weeks ago I had my period during volleyball tryouts at school and while I was soo worried of leaks, moving around a lot really slowed the bleeding towards the end of the day. I dont know if this makes sense or not but uh.. yeah..
actual diva cup user rewatching- don't just yank it out by the stem! you need to press it in a little to break the suction- makes it much easier to pull out without the damn thing trying to french your cervix (and schlurping itself back in if you loose the grip). the little stem guy doesn't really serve a purpose, it's just a comfort thing to be able to feel it. personally i trimmed my stem down a lot bc it gets pokey lol
You are the first comment talking about this that I saw in this section. What a terrible thing. You should be more up there so the missinformation wouldn't be spreading so much.
hello, i have a very important question abt the cups. i play volleyball and basketball and just horse around a lot, if i do the splits for example, can it just like fall out? thats the only thing im afraid of rn.
My bf is great about this kind of stuff. I had my menstrual cup on the bathroom counter drying after boiling it after my period and he put it on top of a toilet paper roll to make a rocket. What a guy. The blood doesn't freak him out at all, as he says "it's just blood."
I was first embarrassed to show my husband any blood. Then one time I was bleeding so bad that I could hear it just near-pouring into the toilet I sat on. (Basically consistent drips.) And he opened the door and asked how I was doing. I flipped out, figuring he shouldn't see anything. And then he asked me to wipe, I did. He waited a minute and asked me again, sure enough there was tons of blood again. I was ashamed to show him but he said, "I don't care. It's just blood from a wound inside you. And I'd like to know when you're bleeding too much."
It takes time to truly master the art of using menstrual cups. I LOVE my menstrual cup and would never go back to using tampons. Here are some tips and tricks: - there are so many different brands of varying price points, sizes, shapes, textures, and colors. Don’t get bummed if the first one you get isn’t right for you. Put a cup in it has a very good comparison chart comparing all of the cups they’ve tried. - there so so many more golds that depicted here. I had a Diva cup for a year until I was able to actually use it and it wasn’t until I discovered the 7 fold that I was able use it - if you would for some reason need to change it in public, bring a water bottle with you to rinse it off in the stall - be careful using the toilet while wearing the cup, it shouldn’t come out but you would rather be safe than sorry - don’t be turned off by the price, menstrual cups can last over 5 years so imagine never walking into a store every again needing to buy over priced tampons. This is a one time purchase that will save you so much in the future. - it easiest for me to insert it in the shower. Squatting or putting a foot up on something is the easiest - run your finger around the cup after insertion to really be sure the cup has completely unfolded itself - for removing the cup, its best to pinch the base of the cup, not the stem. It’s also helpful to push and bear down so cup comes out more naturally Hopefully this was helpful to anyone who read this entire comment. I love never worrying about leaks, being able to sleep with no underwear, only having to change it 2 times a day, saving immense amounts of money, helping out the environment, it’s vegan and cruelty free, comfortable and healthier for you! Please try these out!
Excellent points! The 7 fold is life! There's a ton of good info on the web about folds and brands. I loved that I didn't have to pay the pink tax anymore for tampons which hurt me and never stayed put. I always had a hate/hate relationship with tampons. Menstrual cups were farrrrrr better for me.
How do you clean it at work/school etc? I get very paranoid about my hands being not 100% clean and I get scared I will drop the cup because it has happened in my own bathroom when I wanted to empty it and I REALLY wouldn’t want to cause that scene at work 😭 also I just start leaking after 2 hours so idk if there is a cup big enough to catch my flow and that would fit in & not be uncomfortable 😬
Wooo I am day 2 into my first period with a cup. Something I never thought I would do! But tampons gave me thrush, pads made me feel squishy and dirty,& the bin full of pads at the end of the week made me think about the environment! Day one was great but day 2 can't seem to get it to seal today so I'm practicing and sticking with it. I'm amazed at my body and how it just scoots on up there lol!! And also surprised how much I bled I never thought it was that much! Sorry TMI lol. I'd tell evryone to please try it!! So far it's made me feel so much cleaner and fresher down there even with a little leak compared to a whopping great pad!
Şebnem Seçkal wash it with hand soap and warm water. As for leaking, I was bleeding half a pint in five days (excessively heavy bleeding needing medical intervention), and I never leaked, ever.
I'm 73 and when I was young, a cup amazingly similar to the diva cup was sold. My flow was insane--changing pads every 2 hours and flow for 10 days. It did have a correlation to a physical problem but I didn't find that out for a year after the "Tass-Away" went out of business. I loved it! For the first time I could leave it in for as much as 6 hours without leakage on my heaviest days. Mine created a seal that prevented any leakage. I never had a problem with it. I can't figure out why it went away for 50 years. I'm glad to see it back.
Probably because anything good for us gets buried away and anything cancerous is stocked and front row on all shelves 🤷🏾♀️. I'm so happy I found the diva cup! No more shocking bleached cotton in my vag 🥳🥳
Me too. I have heavy periods too and this is a game changer I love it. I guess it disappeared bcs of economy. it's better for companies to sell u something every month than a thing which will last years
I agree By the time I had 33 I was like okay, I'm still leaking we got to try something new. So used the diva cup and it's a success. I'm not going back two pads and tampons ever again, well until I have another baby🤣👍👍👍😎
Reading the comments has made me seriously worried. So many young women who don't know their anatomy. They should be teaching this in school. And their parents are lacking. But I am also very proud of the women who were kind and took time to explain that women have a vaginal canal and a urethra. And to all the girls, never be embarrassed or ashamed of your menses. Be proud and get informed.
I don't know this YTer, but I do know a similar one to her has MANY fans 7-20 years old. I did not learn about my body until I was 11. The TH-camrs are not entirely dissimilar, so perhaps it's a lot of young fans.
You don't have to be sorry - that's when I said I learned it, lol and I agree with that age. I was in a haze before 11, lol. 7-10 year olds certainly watch the other YT'ers videos. They just want to be like their favorite pretty TH-camr and know what they know and be like them when they can live on their own. And parents don't take their kids out or get them involved (or involved with them online) all too often. :-/
amie a Practically speaking, I wonder if a magnetic solution would help in this situation. With just a bit of ferrous in that tip, I'd imagine we have strong micro magnets that would grip it like no tomorrow.
Ben Taylor strong magnets don't go nicely with sensitive areas... if anything gets caught between the magnets, ouch. Tbh that's probably why they don't have a better solution, because your fingers can feel if you caught something.
@@sleyyyyla if you have it in when you reach in to take it out instead of pulling the stem reach to the base and "pinch, squeeze, fold( whatever word you want to use)" and it "breaks the seal" and it's much easier to pull out. I've had mine for over 3 years and I refuse to go back to anything else. I too do not like the feeling of the flow coming out.
Its not "cute", its really awfull that there are 451 people that think is cute for your boyfriend to understand everything about your period and its cute about it. Thats how it SHOULD be.
Because she is comfortable with her body, and has learned something about it. We have a body that should not be a mystery to us, but our friend we care about and take good care of, and learn about.
Holy cow, during the course of this 13 minute video, I literally started to feel period cramps start coming on out of nowhere, and by the end of it I actually began my period. What is this.
I love diva cup! I've been using one for almost 15 years now. That's 15 years of not buying tampons and pads... good for the environment, the body, and the wallet!
Ashley Redstone Yay I’m so happy to hear you’re loving it too, Ashley, I also love mine! I was just searching the Internet for how long the diva cup lasts until you need to replace it, but I didn’t get a set number. It’s more like when the cup has something weird on it like sticky or filmy spots or is super discolored (????). So I was wondering with your experience how often have you found it needs to be replaced? I’m super curious about this now and kind of concerned about when I should buy a new one... I’d love to hear your opinion thank you :)
@x if you have a heavy flow you'll just need to empty the cup more often. It might not fit for the night... but at least you'd cut your tampon usage during the day! There's also different sizes, however it is recommended to start with a small or medium size to get used to it... Maybe start with a medium size that you start using around the end of your period to see if you're comfortable with it (not everybody is). The cup pays for itself really quick, so even if you end up buying another, bigger one later, you should be good money-wise. Plus a smaller could be more comfortable on days with smaller flow. I'd also recommend wearing pads or period panties, especially at first, and especially with heavy flow!
@xFrom what I've read the sizes have nothing to do with flow, but with your muscles. they recommend a S for younger girls (virgins), a M for most people and a L for after giving birth. I also think there are different strenghts to it (maybe in just a few brands) being the stronger ones for more active people (such as athletes). We all think we have heavy flows, but using the cup made me realize that for most of us it actually isn't so, it's just pads and tampons aren't effective.
Hopefully she gave it a shot for a few months... I found I got so much better at changing it and even having strategies for multi-stall public restrooms after using it for a while. It’s life changing to me as a 40+ woman since it’s sooooo much better than dealing with tampons or pads! My adult daughter taught ME about them a couple years ago and I’d never use anything else now.
I've been using mine for years. Best product I've tried, including a few cups, Thinx, tampons, etc. I would also say that you don't need to WASH wash it between emptying it out during your flow, just once a day or so. If you're in a public restroom, just dump it into the toilet (WHY WOULD YOU GO TO THE SINK?) and wipe it off.
@@AmyDangRabbit thanks for the comment. I'm also in my 40s and still have issues with leakage when I wear pads and tampons, as I just never know what kind of period I'm going to have. Perimenopause stinks in that respect!
@@keeslover777 I'm a heavy bleeder too. I've bought the Thinx Underwear that I wear during that week and it has help TREMENDOUSLY. Especially when I know I can't get to the bathroom for the next :30 or so.. I dont worry about the leakage.
I’m getting a diva cup soon, hoping it works well, tampons kinda hurt sometimes (they dry me out sometimes and it hurts) And pads just feel so gross like a diaper, and it’s so messy Update: it’s my second day of using it, and I love it! No leaks so far, I’m getting used to putting it in and taking it out without pain.
I feel that. I wanna get one cause tampons can be a bit uncomfortable cause they also dry me out. I hate pads too cause of the drop thing and I just don’t like feeling all wet. I’m hoping to get a cup soon
I'm trying a menstrual "disc" this cycle and it's pretty good too if you like the cup. You insert it pretty differently but it's still 12 hours and the main difference is it's deeper inside (so you can woohoo) and there's NO vacuum of suction. The one I'm using is Nixit, cups scare me lol.
this is a weird explanation but i put mine far enough to where the muscle holds it in. it’s in the right spot if it isn’t uncomfortable but you are/can be still kind of aware that it’s there
100% me with tampons because I haven't used one yet because I need more negotiation also my mom said I need to be on it and be going swimming so haha yeah
Pads are actually better in my opinion because it's comfortable to wear. And about the cramps....Idk u deal with this but it doesn't stay forever I guess :) . It's ok u should change 3-4 hours everytime so I guess it's ok to me. I don't mind changing it everytime. So ya I m pad gang.
As as former tampon girl, I couldn’t be prouder of Saf for trying the Diva Cup. I will say that anyone making the switch should consider that it usually takes ~3 cycles to fully master it. It all depends on how comfy you are with your body/your menstrual blood and the amount of patience you have with yourself. But once you get it, it’s everything. I’m now a diva cup + period panties girl and I’d never go back.
I'd just like to add some tips/info here: 1. If it pops up/fully expands after you insert it, you probably have good suction. Trust me, it's a good thing if you don't have to fiddle with it a lot! It's always good to rotate it to get it extra secure though. 2. I like to cut the stem on mine, sometimes it can stick out a little too much and often when you "feel" the diva cup, you're actually just feeling the stem. Others express discomfort in this area and it's worth trying. 3. You don't have to walk to the sink to rinse it out every time. This would be super awkward/impractical to do in a public restroom, and if you're having a heavy day no one wants to do that lol. Just remove it as usual, pour the blood into the toilet, wipe the cup with toilet paper, and reinsert. It's no different than a tampon, and is actually (in my experience) a lot less messy than a tampon. I guess there's a little bit of a learning curve for everyone, but after you get used to it (which imo happens really fast!) it doesn't take more than a couple seconds to insert/remove. I'd also like to add that I experience significantly less cramping with a cup! They're really so great, they're a lot more comfortable and clean than tampons/pads.
I know this video is ancient now. But pro tip- don't use the nub to pull it out. Squeeze the body of the cup to break the seal then pull it out. Many cups are designed with ribs at the bottom for this exact reason. Pulling a giant- well-sealed- suction cup out of you is not easy lol. That makes the removing process less than a minute
Used this tip the second time using the cup and took my removal time down from 30 minutes (ouch) to 30 seconds. Thanks from one internet stranger to another!
I’m super late but tip: whenever I have to change my cup in school or in a public bathroom, I keep wipes with me so I can just dump it in the toilet, and wipe it out! Hope that helps someone! 😁
Ramona Sz Honestly even “flushable” wipes aren’t flushable. They’re still harmful to aquatic life. I wouldn’t* recommend using wipes just because these cups are primarily designed to be more eco friendly and that kinda defeats the purpose.
Guys, she didn't actually say she throws the wipes in the toilet. She may have just meant she dumps the contents of the cup in the toilet and then uses the wipes to clean it out in the stall without having to take it to the sink.
Hopefully you read this! The bubble feeling is because there are two air holes in the top of the cup! That's designed to let air out of the cup as it fills, because the blood slowly going in the cup is obviously going to push air out the way! So the holes let out the spare air😂which is what calls a "bubbling" sensation!
Omg this makes me feel better!! The bubbling and air feeling are the only part of the cup that I really have an issue with. I'm scared of getting an embolism (you know that thing where air gets trapped in you and you die)!! So it has a way to leave so that won't happen!
Samantha Darling embolism is an air bubble in your bloodstream... There's no way it can get in there unless you get an injection with significant air in there... Definitely not from your period... Air gets in there all the time with insertion...
there is zero way you can get an air embolism from a diva cup or form a tampon for that matter. Air gets in your vagina all the time from all manner of activities (sex and masturbation included). Its when air is in a vein that it is deadly.
Simran Possibly if you left it in for a bit too long. Pinching the tip doesn't pinch the entire cup so it shouldn't disturb the liquid inside. You really have to leave the cup in for a long time (like 18-24 hours) on a heavy cycle to have it get really full.
SweetIvory 1203 It really isn't far at all for me. I guess everyone is different but the base of mine sits pretty low. This is why some people have to trim the little tip at the base. If it wasn't trimmed it would poke you or stick out and be uncomfortable.
First..... As a man I'm not sure why I watched this video. I suppose as a married man with 3 daughters I feel a need to stay informed. Then, I made it to 7:00 where you plan to go work out. I'll need to build courage for a few days before I will come watch what happened. Great video and kudos for the frankness and humor. It really helped.
Steve you're a good dad wanting to learn. When I started my period my dad was the only one home and after he raised 4 other girls he knew what to say & get to help me. You deserve dad of the year award!
You're awesome man lol. Kudos to you, takes a brave man to be able to watch this I know to be honest it actually was rather difficult for me to even watch this lol not sure why maybe it's because this seems horrible to me.
When dying, curled in a ball on my period, I always watch Safiya's period videos because they make me feel so much more comfortable and normal feeling. The fact that she is so open and chill about everything is so cool to me...
A bit random but did you heard of "Endotrimiose" (idk the english word) is a few years late but it is a illness, because of that your period hurts more than the average
I saw a video showing how to wash it in a public stall, the girl brought a water bottle and rinsed it out with that in the stall, reinserted it, then said to clean it more thoroughly when you get home! I thought it was a pretty solid way to clean it inconspicuously.
Menstrual cups definitely have a learning curve involved (regarding insertion, knowing how long to keep it in, and removal) but I swear by mine. It’s cleaner, easier and in the long run, cheaper. I’ve been using mine for almost three years and I’ll never go back to tampons. I also read an article that said that you can learn a lot about your health based on your period so it’s nice to keep an eye on the texture and amount (sorry if that’s tmi or gross)
7BearSarah not at all it helps the girls and honestly what boy is going to watch this I feel happy when people talk about because it helps me and other to see what may help them so it’s not gross 🙂🙂🙂
To test if it's got good suction, feel around the edge for dips and lightly tug the stem to see if theres any resistance. To take it out, pinch the base to break the suction and slowly pull out in the shower/over the toilet.
Women who've never used it: "seems gross and uncomfortable I could never use it!!!" Every single woman that has tried it: "it gets easy and it's amazing!"
Literally tho! I first started using it roughly 3 years ago and the first week was so confusing...I put it in wonky and it leaked everywhere so I went back to tampons for the rest of that period. But I kept at the diva cup bc I own a pet-sitting business. Dogs love to tear up tampons, and I don't want any pet emergencies on my hands. So I made the cup work and it's so amazing. I don't know why I hadn't chosen this route sooner!
I was that way...but kept watching reviews and learning how much better it is for your body and the environment. I haven't made the switch yet, but I think I'm going to try it soon.
Ellie Best it's worth discovering what your body is like downstairs, especially if you start a sexual relationship with someone. there's nothing wrong with knowing your body even if you don't want to use tampons
i don't think using the diva cup for one single period is enough to have a defined opinion on it. For me, the first two times it was messy and hard, and it all made me reconsider using it in the first place. However, the more I used it, the more I loved it! putting it on and taking it off gets easier and easier until it only takes you seconds. Once you get the hang of it, you can't feel it at all inside you, as well. All I can say to someone considering using it is to not give up, even when it seems hard. I swear it is worth it.
@@EricaQuiroz heya! I'm a long time user of the cup and I love it! I found it difficult the first couple of months, so don't give up! A couple of tips I found helpful, whichever way you fold it choose the one that it seems to "pop open" easiest from once you insert it. Trying different ways of folding it helps, and I've also had friends say that some times using a little water based lubricant on the interior of the cup can help with this, because it reduces friction and the cup sort of 'catching' on itself, especially as you're learning to use it. This second one is kinda weird but it helps, once it "pops open" you can kinda "burp" the seal if you squish it with your finger once it's in, and it seems to help seal it better to the inner walls and there's a little bit of a suction feeling (not painful) this can also help you kinda feel it "pop open". Also make sure you've purchased the right size for you, there are two sizes and ignore what they say about age/having given birth=sizing, and go with the one that fits and feels right for you. Hope this helps, and if you don't like the Diva but you like cups, there are other cups available on the market that you can try, even disposable ones.
The Diva is so good after that initial first week. Your diva and your lady bits get used to each other, and then every month following is honestly a party. Bless the Diva Cup. Changed my life.
The diva cup also won’t give you toxic shock syndrome like tampons can which is amazing! I was seeing a pelvic floor therapist for a while and she suggested the diva cup to me. You have to do kegel exercises to push it down before you pull it out, it helps lower it to grab it easier. But having to practice kegels really strengthens the pelvic floor which can prevent a lot of pain associated with periods, sex and pregnancy. Would be awesome for you to do a video where you see a pelvic floor therapist because there is so much to learn! Love your videos, Saf! Keep on keeping on!!!
Madison Flores eh well i actualy did get incredibly ill when i used it, i was delirious and throwing up loads even 10 minutes after i took it out... never heard of anyone else getting this so im kinda bumbed out about it failing for me
Rebecca Stewart Are you allergic to silicon?? I'm not sure that would even give a reaction like that though. Hmm maybe research getting sick from mentstral cup and see if anything pops up. But TSS doesn't go away in 10 min..it puts you in the hospital and can kill you and you will most likely have to get limbs removed. It's a very serious thing.
Via Marie Sekine and it’s entertaining to watch for some strange reason because I hadn’t started and even when I had, I didn’t wear tampons let alone a diva cup 😂
No that’s just the eight year olds thinking this is sexual.... and yes I look like an eight year old but I am not I have started my period and is 12 shut up if you think I’m just a kid and haven’t gone through life struggles yet
A possibility of why people disliked this is because they might be the type of people that believe that women should not talk about their period, and should be embarrassed by it. Totally uncool, since it's a natural thing that happens to women.💁
I've been using my menstrual cup for about 7 months now. It took me 3 months to get comfortable with it, with no leaks and all. But I had to understand my period first, and my body. There are a lot of ways to fold it, you should try others and choose your favorite :D Also, I boil my cup once a month, right before my period starts, it's what I've been told to be correct. But since I started using it, I fell in love and won't go back to tampons or pads hahaha
Been using diva cup for like five years now! It def took 3 periods for my to fully get comfortable with putting it in and removing it but now that I got it I’ll never go back!
i realise this video is old, but i've been using a menstrul cup for several years and when i need to change it on the go i use a little bottle with a sports cap so i can fill that with water and take it into the stall with me and give the cup a good squirt down to clean it off then you're good to go again :)
As a male subscriber of yours I just want to say that I love that you are confident with yourself and not afraid to talk about menstrual cycles. Many women were told they shouldn't say anything about it and keep quit but that is wrong. Thank you for being yourself.
I have very irregular periods, but I love that I can just pop my cup in when I feel like I might be starting and not waste anything if it doesn't come. Additionally, I am in the military and that requires me to be away from home and away from places where I can pick up products as needed. It's a great space saver as far as packing and helps keeps things much fresher for longer. Since I started with a menstrual cup , I haven't looked back. I wish that this was something I could have told my high school self. It would have given me more confidence in school.
You make a good point but can you plug a bullet wound with a diva cup tho? Haha :p Just curious, What about if/when youre in the field? Do you find it possible to keep it clean?
TIPS: --It's easier to put in wet! You don't need a special lube or anything, but a quick rinse if you haven't already rinsed it is very helpful. --Conversely, it's easier to take out dry. By this I mean make sure your hands and the little nub for grabbing are as dry as possible. I'll often use a single square of toilet paper to aid in the grabbing of the lil nub. If the nub is uncomfy for you after a trial period, just cut it off and know it'll be a little harder to remove going forward. --While you can absolutely wear it for 12 hours, it will also start to leak when it's full, no matter what hour that is. If you have a very heavy flow, take it out and dump it. It's a cup not a plug so it can runneth over. Wear a liner/dark undies if you have a heavy flow. --When you pour it into the toilet try to pour it into the water, the blood on the side of the bowl doesn't always flush easily. But also, pour slowly so it doesn't splash. --If you ever drop it in the toilet or tbh anywhere, please boil it. --If you ever have to change it in public, strategize: If there are no single stall restroom available, it's ok. Take it out and wipe it off, wrap it in TP, put a lil TP in your undies and go rinse it off. Go back in the stall and put it back in. Yes, It'll be inconvenient and take longer than a tampon. It's worth it.
@@sarahbrugman8358 usually at first, and if it's not properly inserted you can feel it. But as it warms up w body heat it settles into place in a couple minutes
Sarah Brugman all this is great advice! I want to add that keeping a Ph balanced cleaner (Summers Eve - unscented) on hand is a good idea. Boiling works but I think of it as more of the ‘oops’ option like Clair said. And skip the rotation step if you get a cup. If you dont feel the ‘pop’ then just run a finger around the outside of the cup and apply gentle pressure until you feel the ‘pop’ - or until you feel the cup is unfurled. It feels a little odd at first but it gets really unnoticeable fast. And I also suggest inserting/removing the first few times while relaxed and in the shower.
Not gonna lie. I don’t rotate my cup and it works fine. It’s to make sure that you have a suction. After you insert it pull on the stem. If you feel resistance you’re good to go!
The first time I used my cup, and went to take it out, I could not find it and I started freaking out a little bit that it was lost up there forever. When I read the instructions for getting it out, it literally said "do not panic" haha. But once I got used to it, I love it. I've kept it in closer to 24 hours on my light days.
@@ashleywilliams9732 just squat a little and you will be good! Also don't rip it by stem. Move it left to right gently and then remove it. Edit: you are never going to lose your cup inside your vagina because due to gravity as it gets heavy, it will be easier for you to remove. Hope that helps
Lmao EXACT SAME THING happened with me! And I looked at the website and it said “do not panic” lmao so I stopped panicking. I just squatted while showering and pulled it out by the bottom of the cup, not the stem. And then after that, I just didn’t insert it as high. Hope that helps!
Leaving any product in place vaginally (diaphragm, cup, tampon) for more than, at the very most, 8 hours (preferably 4) is extremely dangerous. Look up "toxic shock."
honestly relatable. all these comments are saying if it hurts then you're doing it wrong, but for me that wasn't the case. tampons hurt a lot and i can't wear them. one time i tried to put one in after multiple tries, finally got it in correctly, stood up and immediately cried my eyes out and fell down because of the sharp pain. some of us literally can't insert them. i have to use pads. all the same people praising tampons say that pads are like diapers, but in reality if you have the correct pad for your body shape/flow it shouldn't be visible and you shouldn't be able to feel it.
TAMPONS MAKE ME CRAMP LIKE A CRAMPING CRAMPER WHO CRAMPS!!! I can insert them without pain (though I can always feel them in there), but the freaking CRAMPS. The only going explanation I've ever found is some reproductive systems are laid out in a way that if you use a tampon it will sit against the cervix and cause pain. Other people's vaginal canals are slightly different lengths and shapes, so that's why it hurts in some and not in others.
@@tay5327 They hurt for some and they don't hurt for others. It all depends on the person because bodies are different. So if they do hurt for you? That's normal. And if they don't? That's also normal! Either way it's okay and there's no need to be scared.
I just got my first menstrual cup called a Saalt cup today, and so far, I'm impressed. Cramps hurt less, it sits comfortably, and holds well with my heavy flow. I do agree that taking a cup out is a bit of a situation. I had to squish mine on the side with my finger and drag it out, so it spilled everywhere. Lol. Overall though, I'm never going back to tampons unless I have to. It's so nice to feel more relaxed and not worry about just having the tampon string stain your panties or feel like you have to change it every time you pee. *Edit: Now that it's been all day, and I've done a little extra research, I've found that if you push like you're trying to poop, it helps to get the bottom farther towards your vaginal opening and makes it soooooooo much easier to get out. You may have to do that a few times as you wiggle the cup down if you have a high cervix, or bendy vag like me. Just remember, try to relax and just be calm so your muscles don't squeeze in and fight you.
Please don’t bear down. Squat further or do other things to manipulate gravity. Bearing down too hard and too frequently can cause pelvic organ prolapse.
I love my Saalt cup! The soft one feels so comfortable and no leaks for me. I had tried Diva cup before and liked it but found it made it hard to pee 😳 Love using period panties too. So happy for both of these improvements to menstrual products!
Menstrual cups are the best. They're very simple to use, eco friendly, cleaner, safer, and completely comfortable. I recommend the diva cup to every woman.
That's how I felt at 17 when I got fed up enough with pads to switch to tampons. They felt so liberating that I wanted to tell every woman (and this was long before the cup was on the market). And I'll always use them. I have no issues with getting 'personal' with myself, but years ago I developed vaginismus. Anything that requires that much invasive groping and pulling is just too painful. But it's great when any woman discovers the best product suited to her.
@@steelrose7342 There's definitely a little bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out they're awesome. There are two sizes of Diva so make sure you get the size that's right for you. Also there are other cups if the diva doesn't work for you, just make sure its a high grade body safe silicone.
Saf: as a tampon girl, I’m pretty excited Me: As a pad girl, I’m cringing. I wished you luck Edit: I know nobody will see this anymore as its been over a year but I tried a tampon and am currently using one right now, maybe one day I’ll use a cup
@@so7780 me too, kind of I tried to use a tampon once and it was really painful and dry Has a really squidish girl i found water base lubricant to help A LOT to get the cup inside
The '' cup '' is my worst nightmare. The size for 1 is bigger than a tampon, for 2 '' air bubbles '' for 3 you have to wrestle with your vagina to get it out. For 4 I'm just really fucking terrified 😂 Pads are the way! Especially ones with cute Korean/Japanese packaging.
Gal with heavy flow here, I mean I can soak through a super-plus tampon in 2 hours, srsly -- and the Diva Cup is freaking AMAZING! It stores a lot, and more importantly, it is *always* comfy and silky to insert/remove, there is none of that scraping feeling you can get with high-absorbency tampons.
I'm a heavy bleeder have to Change super tampons ever 1-2hrs and I use a cup and it's wonderful. I only have to change ever 8-10hours it doesn't last the full 12 till the last few days but has been a life saver!
If you're buying a cup please sterilise it before use! You don't know where it's been. So boil it, or use a safe sterilising fluid (we have Milton in UK and Ireland). Sterilise before use, for every cycle. A lot of people have given good tips on how to use them here, definitely trim the stem to a comfortable level asap. Make sure to squeeze the base of the cup to release suction before removal or you might hurt yourself! And yep if the suction isn't released then it can wriggle back up. I've read before positioning is super important, if you leak all the time you may not be aligning properly with your cervix. It takes some time :) Also, when inserting or removing, SQUAT! Then after a while you'll get used to doing it on the loo. And I would recommend always inserting it while wet, much easier... i know. Think of the amount of waste you're NOT adding to landfills all the while - and money saved longterm - it's a bit tricky at first but so worth it.
robynh trying mine for the first time. I want to trim the stem but i need to make sure it’s in the right spot so i know where to trim it... i feel like it might be awhile before I get it perfect 😂
@@Wizardwiwizard it may be uncomfortable - i'm not sure about stretching, but i know the larger sizes are suggested for women over 30 and women who have had children. Try it out, it might be okay! Perhaps if it doesn't form a seal properly, get the smaller one :)
@@robynhab ik that's why I'm afraid, I'm 26 and really small and I'm using it 😭😭😭😭 it's pretty expensive here so i can only afford 1 (damn you seller!! ). I'm trying it and it actually makes me abit nauseous. And it hurt like hell the putting in process. Sigh. But I'm powering it through. Just a week won't be enough to stretch me out right 😭😭😭
It's not going to stretch you out, if my five kids didn't stretch me out that little cup isn't going to. That's not the way vaginas work. Besides, the cup is flexible and conforms to your body.
I use a Ruby Cup (bonus: they donate a cup to a girl in a place where access to menstrual stuff isn't super common, so she can go to school all month and graduate), and it has a significantly longer stem, which also has grippy nubs, so getting a good hold is easy. Pulling it straight out, you'll be fighting suction, kind of like pulling your rain boot straight up out of the mud. If you tilt it and scoot one spot of the rim around, you can break the suction, and pulling it out becomes a LOT easier. Also, great job keeping a clear cup clear!
I've been using my cup since autumn last year, and I will never go back! My cramps are pretty awful, but the tampons I used before made it a million times worse. Since I started using the cup, they aren't nearly as bad. Plus that benefit of not having to carry a hoard of products in my purse! Just the one or two for those who might need one while I'm out and about. Also don't have to worry about the surprise visit, because I just start using it a few days before I'm supposed to get my period (according to what my tracking app says at least). Best. Thing. Ever! Another perk is also terrible period jokes, because my friends and I are terrible human beings. It's a vampire shot glass! Anyone? No? Okay...
shamelesslykristen I find it much easier to do it over the toilet or in the shower just to avoid mess. I'm sure if you get comfortable enough with it to avoid any spillage, but I'm not that brave haha
i literally dont try to be sneaky at all with washing it in a public bathroom. we’re all women, almost all of us get periods, theres nothing to be ashamed about. you wouldnt freak out if someone saw you throw away a tampon or pad in the bathroom trash
How do you wash it in public? When you are in one of the bathrooms and the wash basin is outside. Don't you feel scared that when u get up and go out to wash then you might have a leak and stain.
Oh maybe you can keep a spare cup and change into it and wash the other one but that's difficult. To hold the dirty one and insert the other at the same time.
my thing is that im not really ashamed about the period itself, but theres a lot of blood involved and i think i would feel a bit weird walking to a public sink with blood on my hands. theres also the danger, at least for me, of leaking into my panties during the time that I walk from the toilet to the sink and back. Would still love to try one of these cups one day.
i've heard of people carrying a waterbottle in their bag and using that to rinse it in the stall. or dumping it and wiping off the blood and then go rinse it at the sink. i think leaking won't be much of a problem if its only like 3 minutes w/o the cup
For beginners: if the Diva cup doesn’t feel comfortable or it’s “making you feel like you have to pee” try other cups. I’ve been loving Lena sensitive. It’s thinner (but still tough), stem is longer and softer. If the first cup you choose feels uncomfortable, try other ones because once you find a good one, you will loooove it and stop hating your period!!!! I try to convert everyone to try the menstrual cups! They are AMAZING!!!!!
I love my Lena sensitive. I use the small one at the beginning and end, then I use the large in the middle of my period. I’ve never had issues, and I love how soft it is. I definitely have gotten friendly with my anatomy trying to figure out the ideal positioning.
The problem with "try other ones" is that they're not exactly cheap... Whichever one I get first will have to fit, because the only reason why I might try it is to save money... ;-)
I'm using another menstrual cup for years and it defenitely is saving a lot of inconviniences. super eco- friendly, hygienic and you do not have to leave anything disgusting in the trash.
I've definitely watched her "period series" a few times, I'm wondering if she had continued to use these products and what was the perfect combo she would use for the first half and last half of her monthly. Maybe one day there will be a followup video! One can hope :)

In public, I tend to empty cup, wipe it out with toilet paper, rinse with a water bottle, dry with toilet paper and pop it back in and just give it a good clean at home. The "boil as necessary" generally means at the beginning/end of your period give it a good boil to kill off any germs.

Hi!! So some tips from a cup veteran:
3. When you boil, place it inside of a whisk so it doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot, it’ll keep it from burning 🔥
4. You can wipe the cup with toilet paper in public stalls and put it back in as long as your hands are clean and you wash it as soon as you can 🚰
& last but not least, the first fold the box was showing you is the punch down fold, when done correctly it’s 100x easier to put in rather than the c-fold. Happy cupping!!! 💓
Caitlin Ferguson yes! I have used a cup for over half a decade and this is 100% the way.

came back to this video after buying a diva cup for the first time. i’ve always been an avid tampon user, i can’t stand pads - they just seem so gross to me, so naturally i was pretty excited about this.
one thing that really made me happy was the fact it can be left in for up to twelve hours. i was always so bad at taking tampons out on time (never left them in for more than eight hours though, don’t worry haha).
the first time i tried the diva cup was a DISASTER. i didn’t know how to insert it properly, and after 40 minutes, when it eventually got in, i didnt push it far enough and when i walked i could feel it rotate. i was in so much pain and was ready to never touch a diva cup again.
taking it out was arguably worse than putting it in. i was in so. much. pain. i eventually got it out after far, far too long, emptied & rinsed it, then turned to youtube for a better method.
i came across one method that said to fold one side into the cup so it makes some sort of triangular shape, then insert - and that has been the best method ever!!! so easy! then, run your finger around the outside to make sure it’s all open and suctioned.
to take it out, as funny as it sounds, you should start by pushing with your muscles like you’re gonna poop. you’ll start to feel the cup make its way out. once it’s out enough that you can feel all of the ring-things on the base of the cup, hold it in place as best you can while you run a finger up to break the seal.
once you’ve broken the seal, keep your finger there, continue to push it out while guiding it with your finger.
that has been the most painless and clean method for me, i hope it helps. sorry to be so... in depth ahah.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Thank you. I’m hoping to get one soon so this is really helpful
I love how okay with this Tyler is. He's just like 'look at that period product that's cool'. Ya know?
KylaW yes I was looking for this comment why aren't more people talking about this
Saf and Tyler's relationship is what I hope my future relationships are like.
"Oh hey, you're on your period? Want some chocolate?"
All guys should be that mature about it! They often aren't, especially in their teens, but they should be. Tampons, pads, and cups are no more gross than toilet paper or underwear.
because its not that amazing, most of the people are like this lmao
Wait this is not common? I thought as a couple in a serious relationship, you can talk about period causally. All my exes helped me getting my pads from the stores when I needed them.
Ok ladies, I respect you even more. Jeeze the struggle of being a girl!

Hiking on your period....damn....i can't even get out of bed without feeling extremely uncomfortable and having some leaks here and there.
Same
Oof hate to be you
I've gone backpacking on my period before. I LOVE the mountains and I love camping/hiking. Several times when we plan to go it ended up close to or right on my period, but I don't want to miss it so I just tough it out
Its different for everyone so when you see someone doing something like that its like "Damn, ok!"
@@sydneyomara5704 nop. It stays in there by creating a suction, so you'll be okay :)
“french your cervix” made me cackle loool
Absolutely not, it will not fall out. Your muscles helps to keep the cup in place while it also suction to your cervix.
My bf is great about this kind of stuff. I had my menstrual cup on the bathroom counter drying after boiling it after my period and he put it on top of a toilet paper roll to make a rocket. What a guy. The blood doesn't freak him out at all, as he says "it's just blood."
hold onto him haha
Does he have a brother i cant even last my own blood
Edit:wow ive got like 50 likes
My boyfriend is the same ahahhahaa he’s just so curious about everything because he genuinely wants to know how to help me
Keep him he sounds sweet 😊
Here are some tips and tricks:
- there are so many different brands of varying price points, sizes, shapes, textures, and colors. Don’t get bummed if the first one you get isn’t right for you. Put a cup in it has a very good comparison chart comparing all of the cups they’ve tried.
- there so so many more golds that depicted here. I had a Diva cup for a year until I was able to actually use it and it wasn’t until I discovered the 7 fold that I was able use it
- if you would for some reason need to change it in public, bring a water bottle with you to rinse it off in the stall
- be careful using the toilet while wearing the cup, it shouldn’t come out but you would rather be safe than sorry
- don’t be turned off by the price, menstrual cups can last over 5 years so imagine never walking into a store every again needing to buy over priced tampons. This is a one time purchase that will save you so much in the future.
- it easiest for me to insert it in the shower. Squatting or putting a foot up on something is the easiest
- run your finger around the cup after insertion to really be sure the cup has completely unfolded itself
- for removing the cup, its best to pinch the base of the cup, not the stem. It’s also helpful to push and bear down so cup comes out more naturally
Hopefully this was helpful to anyone who read this entire comment.
You can also get a cup for a woman that has had a child. That works much better than a tampon.
ROTATION IS KEYYYY = creates the suction = no 'bubbles' = no leaks
katherinep I find rotating hard but running my finger around it seems to do just as good a job
katherinep I never rotate and I've never heared of it 🤔 and my LadyCup works perfectly.
the LadyCup is probably a little different; the Diva Cup specifically says to rotate in its instructions to create the suction lock :)
Ive never rotated and ive never had leaks or bubbles
I have a blossom cup and it says to wiggle it a little and make sure the suction is there and that works
I'm glad to see it back.
so it has existed for more than 50 years? that's amazing. it's really good that it's making a comeback indeed
Probably because anything good for us gets buried away and anything cancerous is stocked and front row on all shelves 🤷🏾♀️. I'm so happy I found the diva cup! No more shocking bleached cotton in my vag 🥳🥳
Yeah... periods just exist for 50 years..even if ut dosent come in 50 years it wont come back-
Me too. I have heavy periods too and this is a game changer I love it. I guess it disappeared bcs of economy. it's better for companies to sell u something every month than a thing which will last years
I agree
By the time I had 33 I was like
okay, I'm still leaking
we got to try something new.
Jamaican Rain at 11 you should know your female anatomy. I'm sorry that's just my opinion. And I doubt a 7 year old would be watching such videos.
They do explain it, but not in great detail. It can leave many not fully educated. I personally had to find out based on other things on the internet.

amie a Practically speaking, I wonder if a magnetic solution would help in this situation.

Ladies, break the seal before taking it out. It’s way easier and more comfortable to remove that way. That helped me a ton.
Exactly. The thought of people just trying to yank it out by the stem when still fully suctioned to your cervix made me cross my legs. Yikes
sorry I'm slow, what do u mean by seal?
@@sleyyyyla if you have it in when you reach in to take it out instead of pulling the stem reach to the base and "pinch, squeeze, fold( whatever word you want to use)" and it "breaks the seal" and it's much easier to pull out.
Do you ever have to wear a liner as a backup?
I had no idea they have been out for that long
This was a year ago... I wonder if Saf is still using the diva cup. Would love to see that video! Along with other menstrual tries
I've had mine 16 years and counting
I’m getting a diva cup soon, hoping it works well, tampons kinda hurt sometimes (they dry me out sometimes and it hurts)
And pads just feel so gross like a diaper, and it’s so messy
Update: it’s my second day of using it, and I love it! No leaks so far, I’m getting used to putting it in and taking it out without pain.
Hey sorry for the tmi but how did u know how far up to put it ? That’s the only part I’m confused about
I feel that. I wanna get one cause tampons can be a bit uncomfortable cause they also dry me out. I hate pads too cause of the drop thing and I just don’t like feeling all wet. I’m hoping to get a cup soon
@@kenzienettleton6184 try inserting your finger to feel the cervix and then put the cup's top in up there up to the point you had measured

I'd just like to add some tips/info here:

Thank you trying it today for the first time 1/10/20.
Used this tip the second time using the cup and took my removal time down from 30 minutes (ouch) to 30 seconds. Thanks from one internet stranger to another!
@@Intuition_Like-A_River How'd it go Heather!?

I’m super late but tip: whenever I have to change my cup in school or in a public bathroom, I keep wipes with me so I can just dump it in the toilet, and wipe it out! Hope that helps someone! 😁
For a few seconds I thought you meant dump the cup in the toilet to rinse it😲😲😲😲 and then wipe it off 😆😆😆😆😆
You have to be careful to use flushable wipes, also, what i do is take a bottle of water with me for rinsing - uses less wipes *winkwink
caseyyy not that late!
She may have just meant she dumps the contents of the cup in the toilet and then uses the wipes to clean it out in the stall without having to take it to the sink.
safiya has a face of a model and im not even lying like she does
Hopefully you read this!
Its when air is in a vein that it is deadly.
im glad to hear that lol
i guess my health education was lacking lol
You probably won't see this but it's easier to take it out if pinch the base. It causes the suction to break.
B Shepherd wouldn't that make it overflow??
Simran Possibly if you left it in for a bit too long. Pinching the tip doesn't pinch the entire cup so it shouldn't disturb the liquid inside. You really have to leave the cup in for a long time (like 18-24 hours) on a heavy cycle to have it get really full.
How do you get your two fingers up that far
SweetIvory 1203 It really isn't far at all for me. I guess everyone is different but the base of mine sits pretty low. This is why some people have to trim the little tip at the base. If it wasn't trimmed it would poke you or stick out and be uncomfortable.
B Shepherd I have to put my tampons up just a little far cuz I can painfully feel EVERYTHING just right inside my vagina

You're awesome man lol. Kudos to you, takes a brave man to be able to watch this I know to be honest it actually was rather difficult for me to even watch this lol not sure why maybe it's because this seems horrible to me.
That's the cutest thing I've seen all day oml
did you ever come back to the video
When dying, curled in a ball on my period, I always watch Safiya's period videos because they make me feel so much more comfortable and normal feeling. The fact that she is so open and chill about everything is so cool to me...
I feel that big time. The pain of mine is almost unbearable, and it sucks really bad
Could you imagine trying to insert and remove the diva cup with acrylic nails? 😬
Wow. I ordered one (I live in a different country) and I have naturally long nails so I'm curious
New ombre manicure! 😂
You’re actually not supposed to have acrylic nails to remove or even insert the menstrual cup
Lol, I have acrylics and I manage ok. You just have to like...dig them into the cup a little. Make sure they can’t scratch you.
Omg! Slash and dash cut another hole in your ass! Not cool.

Can you pee with the cup?
Michela Ferlito yes. It’s up far enough where it doesn’t affect your ability to pee
7BearSarah okay Thank you
To test if it's got good suction, feel around the edge for dips and lightly tug the stem to see if theres any resistance.
To take it out, pinch the base to break the suction and slowly pull out in the shower/over the toilet.
I can’t figure out how to get it open when it’s inside. I tried to rotate it, pull on it. It just will not open!
Women who've never used it: "seems gross and uncomfortable I could never use it!!!"
Every single woman that has tried it: "it gets easy and it's amazing!"
This was literally me and my cousin talking about it
Literally tho!
I haven't made the switch yet, but I think I'm going to try it soon.
im like this close to trying it after all the glowing reviews.
I am literally unable to get it in, and I have tried many times. I have the smallest size, but when folded, it is just too big for me 😅🙈😩

Yes! Life changing once you get used to it.
is it okay to use if you're a virgin?
@@kaideloscope of course dear!
I made the mistake of running a 10k, on my second month with the cup. 😵
I love how she's so chill and normal about her period. That's how things should be really
“Wow this is a pretty hands on project” 😂

Madison Flores eh well i actualy did get incredibly ill when i used it, i was delirious and throwing up loads even 10 minutes after i took it out... never heard of anyone else getting this so im kinda bumbed out about it failing for me
It might not be TSS, it could have been that you were sick with a virus or something at the same time. :(
Emilee L. Nah it was instantly aftee puttinf it in and went away 10 mins after i took it out
Rebecca Stewart I can’t have been TSS. It does not go away in 10 min. But you can get it from the diva cup, but it’s less likely.

I think the people who disliked this just were uncomfortable. Idk. But that's not really a reason to dislike the video though.
Via Marie Sekine Yeah, why did they dislike it
A possibility of why people disliked this is because they might be the type of people that believe that women should not talk about their period, and should be embarrassed by it. Totally uncool, since it's a natural thing that happens to women.💁
I've been using my menstrual cup for about 7 months now. It took me 3 months to get comfortable with it, with no leaks and all. But I had to understand my period first, and my body. There are a lot of ways to fold it, you should try others and choose your favorite :D
Also, I boil my cup once a month, right before my period starts, it's what I've been told to be correct. But since I started using it, I fell in love and won't go back to tampons or pads hahaha
Gabriela Pedroso me too! It took me a while but now it's my best friend lol!
It's my favorite thing. I have a really heavy flow but mine has never leaked.
Brand?
Apsari Dessia mine is a Brazilian brand, Korui. It's perfect for me! :)
Gabriela Pedroso there’s a diva cup wash and even tablets if you want to wash it daily or just can’t get to a pot of boiling water. :)
Been using diva cup for like five years now! It def took 3 periods for my to fully get comfortable with putting it in and removing it but now that I got it I’ll never go back!
i realise this video is old, but i've been using a menstrul cup for several years and when i need to change it on the go i use a little bottle with a sports cap so i can fill that with water and take it into the stall with me and give the cup a good squirt down to clean it off then you're good to go again :)
you are a genius ! XD

It would have given me more confidence in school.
me too, before, using tampons, i remember the pain of pulling out a dry tampon...::shudders:: never again.
Amen. I feel way more protected and don't have spillage at all. This thing is incredible.
Also, thank you for your service!
Menstrual cups on deployment are amazing!
You make a good point but can you plug a bullet wound with a diva cup tho? Haha :p
Just curious, What about if/when youre in the field? Do you find it possible to keep it clean?
Why would you have confidence problems because of periods? 😅😶😮
TIPS:
--It's easier to put in wet!
Claire Miller can you feel it in there?
@@sarahbrugman8358 usually at first, and if it's not properly inserted you can feel it. But as it warms up w body heat it settles into place in a couple minutes
Claire Miller Thank You!
Safiya: *Skips rotation step*
The Diva Cup and period blood: So....you have chosen death.
What is the rotation step for? I use pads, so I don't have any idea
Lovi Vargas,
It’s to suction the cup to the vaginal walls. Without the suction it might leak.
Not gonna lie. I don’t rotate my cup and it works fine. It’s to make sure that you have a suction. After you insert it pull on the stem. If you feel resistance you’re good to go!

@@lavenderhazel5125 I just fisiccally check the cup is in the right place
The first time I used my cup, and went to take it out, I could not find it and I started freaking out a little bit that it was lost up there forever. When I read the instructions for getting it out, it literally said "do not panic" haha. But once I got used to it, I love it. I've kept it in closer to 24 hours on my light days.
Not to be nosy but how did you get it out? Seems scary lol
How did you get it out?
*everyone saying tampons are amazing*
*me sitting in the corner burning all tampons and holding pads like their my babies*
honestly relatable. all these comments are saying if it hurts then you're doing it wrong, but for me that wasn't the case. tampons hurt a lot and i can't wear them. one time i tried to put one in after multiple tries, finally got it in correctly, stood up and immediately cried my eyes out and fell down because of the sharp pain. some of us literally can't insert them. i have to use pads. all the same people praising tampons say that pads are like diapers, but in reality if you have the correct pad for your body shape/flow it shouldn't be visible and you shouldn't be able to feel it.
I’m 14 and I’ve never started my period and people say omg tampons are the best and others say they hurt so I’m scared to death
@@tay5327 They hurt for some and they don't hurt for others. It all depends on the person because bodies are different. So if they do hurt for you? That's normal. And if they don't? That's also normal! Either way it's okay and there's no need to be scared.
My period is so bad i cant use cups or tampons

Bendy vag lmao
Thanks for the tip!
I going try after this video.
@@steelrose7342 There's definitely a little bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out they're awesome. There are two sizes of Diva so make sure you get the size that's right for you.
It takes some time :)
Also, when inserting or removing, SQUAT! Then after a while you'll get used to doing it on the loo. And I would recommend always inserting it while wet, much easier... i know.
Think of the amount of waste you're NOT adding to landfills all the while - and money saved longterm - it's a bit tricky at first but so worth it.

@@Wizardwiwizard it may be uncomfortable - i'm not sure about stretching, but i know the larger sizes are suggested for women over 30 and women who have had children. Try it out, it might be okay! Perhaps if it doesn't form a seal properly, get the smaller one :)

Anyone? No? Okay...

You have to pinch the bottom of the cup not just the nub. When you pinch it, it will release the suction of the cup and it will be easy to get out. :)
This is a very important step you don't want to learn the hard way :-(
Chantel Duquesnel does blood spill out when you remove it? Is it best to always do it over a toilet?
shamelesslykristen I find it much easier to do it over the toilet or in the shower just to avoid mess. I'm sure if you get comfortable enough with it to avoid any spillage, but I'm not that brave haha
Chantel Duquesnel lol
i literally dont try to be sneaky at all with washing it in a public bathroom. we’re all women, almost all of us get periods, theres nothing to be ashamed about. you wouldnt freak out if someone saw you throw away a tampon or pad in the bathroom trash
They are AMAZING!!!!!
unless you got a tampon stuck in you (Like me...hahahah)
the mooncup is also recommended by lots of other people. make sure you are buying a cup that's made with medical grade silicone though!!
I love my Lena sensitive. I use the small one at the beginning and end, then I use the large in the middle of my period. I’ve never had issues, and I love how soft it is. I definitely have gotten friendly with my anatomy trying to figure out the ideal positioning.
But expensive
The problem with "try other ones" is that they're not exactly cheap... Whichever one I get first will have to fit, because the only reason why I might try it is to save money... ;-)
I'm using another menstrual cup for years and it defenitely is saving a lot of inconviniences. super eco- friendly, hygienic and you do not have to leave anything disgusting in the trash.
I've definitely watched her "period series" a few times, I'm wondering if she had continued to use these products and what was the perfect combo she would use for the first half and last half of her monthly. Maybe one day there will be a followup video! One can hope :)
