Okay I get it. Your cups are not stained hahaha. 1. It’s not a big deal. 2. I have no idea why mine is. It’s not a shitty brand and I’ve cared for it as the instructions say. But maybe something is wrong. As long as it works I don’t see why it matters. 😅😅

Mine is stained too, no worries! I was actually very relieved to see that I'm not the only one with such cup. (I use Organicup btw) It's just that almost nobody is waving a used cup around, so it's great that you broke this stigma. 😅
Oh well that’s good to know hahah! I thought mine might be broken or something 😅😅 it was stained already after 3-4 months of use! Maybe we have extra colorful blood. 😉
It's probably already mentioned, but apparently, to avoid staining (new, unstained) cup, you should rinse it in cold water first, only then in hot, after every use. But who cares about stains anyways :D
I genuinely appreciate your openness and honesty. Your channel is so versatile, and I know every time I click on a video- no matter the subject- it's going to be straightforward and no bullshit.
At one point in the video you said “I’m perfectly fine with that” and an ad interrupted you and it made it sound like you said “I’m perfect” and I was just like Yes, I agree with this statement
"I will never ever ever go back to tampons" Totally the best investment and I won't ever go back either!!! Seriously people, menstrual cups are a game changer.
another public restroom hack: wheelchair restrooms! They have a sink in the same room. I always feel a little guilty doing it but they're often free and it's much easier.
I know it´s easier, I get it, but please don't use those restrooms. As a person who actually needs them i can't tell you how many times I was unable to use it because someone who was abled bodied was using it, just because it was bigger, or had a sink in it or some other stupid reason. Just because they're often free, doesn't mean you should use them.
heyletsread Everyone is able to use any restroom. I use whatever bathroom stall that's available. Sometimes the only one available is the handicap one. I will use regular stalls which is my first option, but if the only one that's free is handicap, then obviously that's where I go.
heyletsread they are for additional needs. Which could mean you need a sink. I am able bodied but have used them as I can bring a pram in with me as I am not going to leave my son out my sight. Also remember may disabilities are invisible.
My cup is stained too! You’re the only person who I’ve heard talk about it so thank you haha. I went to a baseball game on my heaviest day with white pants before I got on the pill. As soon as we got there, 3 hours after I put it in it was FULL and leaking into my liner. I just saved myself before it got on my white pants. I would’ve died if I was using a tampon. Never going back for sure
Michelle ok can I ask what liners you are using? The usual from the store or like cotton liners? The cotton ones are so big and dont really work for me so far. And the other ones aren't enviromental friendly.. so I'm torn 😂
When I watch these kind of videos I feel so proud of being a woman. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against men e I don't think we're somehow "better" than them. I just think we go through a lot of things in our lives, most of which are determined by our body, our hormones, the pills we take, etc. and therefore we develop (or at least try to) such a high understanding of ourselves, our body, our mind, our feelings. Have I made myself clear or am I just jabbering on?! 😂😅
Lmao. All I can think about is the people that said her brows were out of control. They look so nice, they are so proportionate and suit her really well!
I'm never buying tampons again. My period is actually a much more positive experience after switching to a cup. Additionally to the things you mentioned as pros I also love that it doesn't smell like used tampons do; the blood in the cup is still fresh since it hasn't been exposed to air. It's also a lot more comfortable to wear, especially the days when it's just spotting since it doesn't dry out the vagina like tampons do.
I don't want to use tampons (especially the Tampax brand) because they dry out my vaginal walls so much that they hurt. also now that I am used to the cup, wearing a pad feels like wearing a diaper... no thanks.
Dana Bauer soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight and it will look brand new afterwards. I’ve been using it for 5 years and it doesn’t look anything like that one.
Aaaaand you've just summarized two of the very best decisions I ever made: getting off birth control and purchasing a menstrual cup. Life changing, both of them.
Mine is stained as well, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was afraid I'd I was doing something wrong. Thank you for your wonderful & informative videos 😘
I've heard that you can prevent stains by rinsing the cup in cold water before using hot water. Which makes sense since the warm water will make the blood harden and "set" in the cup. Not that stains matter that much though.
ive been binge watching your channel since finding it a few days ago. started watching for your tattoo videos but I am SO pumped to hear you talking about women's issues! Thank you for being an example of a seriously bad ass women with no shame in your period! thank you!
ive been using the menstrual cup for a while now and i agree that it has changed my life regarding my period! ive always hated how wasteful pads and tampons were, and how tampons are actually dangerous???? pads used to give me such a rash, and especially in the summer when youre sweaty and sticky it just makes it worse. with pads i was constantly worried id spill over and leak (which i did....i have many bad gas station washroom experiences) but with the menstrual cup its literally all being blocked by the silicone cup which is sooo much more convenient. Im with Katrin!!! try it out! theyre not for everyone but you never know until you try :)
Staining is super usual and expected. I know mine specifically mentions this and says to not worry. Pills: that fog is such a pain in the butt. As someone who's been called many names for her emotions, I didn't think it was the pills fault at all until I dropped it. It feels so...refreshing. Calming. You feel in control of yourself again. Thank you for being so straight forward with these topics. It's awesome. 💜
I just want to say I really love your videos and I super appreciate how honest and body-function-positive you are. Women’s bodies are so stigmatized so it’s really refreshing to hear you talk about menstrual cycles like the totally normal things that they are
Dana Bauer soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight and it will look brand new afterwards. I’ve been using it for 5 years and it doesn’t look anything like that one.
I had started using a menstrual cup a few months before she made her first video about it and it made me so happy to see someone talking about it! The cup changed my life
If you break out with pimples on your chin and or lower jaw it is an area that is hormonal. It would be normal to see some if you are off a hormonal birth control and just a normal cycle
Thanks to you I bought a cup a week after your first video about it, and I absolutely can't live without it. It is the best thing I've ever had in my life. Thanks! 🤗
HI HEAVY FLOW-ERS: I have an extremely heavy flow, and on my heavy days, I have to change the cup veryyyy often. In public bathrooms, I just empty it, wipe it a little with toilet paper IF needed, then insert again and wash it when I get home! Not a big deal lol. :) Now I'm on birth control though, so I don't really get periods.
This is so helpful, thank you so much! I purchased a menstrual cup 2 weeks ago and I will get my period in a few days. I already practiced putting the cup in but I’m still not that used to it but I’m kinda excited to try it. I hope it helps me . And it even was your video about the menstrual cup last year that made me buy one myself, so thanks! I rely on your advise, I really appreciate your honesty. I’m glad that I found your channel about one and a half years ago and I hope that I will go on many more journeys with you! I wish you the very best and hope that you’re having a good day.
After watching your video about going off the pill I finally decided to do it as well. It's been a month and I feel much better too! No extreme mood swings like before.
Yay, great video! When I came off the birth control pill I felt extremely depressed. I also didn't like having to renew my prescription so often and was looking for a new option that I didn't have to think about and would protect me from pregnancy and lighten my period as well. I got the Mirena IUD and I don't get my period anymore which is a lifesaver. It doesn't make me feel any different as the hormones are local in the uterus and don't go throughout the body. Before I had the IUD, I used to fill the menstrual cup in about 6 hours! I had such a heavy flow and intense cramps where I felt like I was dying. Now I get some spotting every couple of months which is amazing and I don't have to worry about pregnancy as muchsince the IUD is 99.9% effective
I found that the Femmycycle really got rid of that suction crampy feeling that the MeLuna/ other suction menstrual cups has as it uses more of a kind of syphon than suction to yourself, it's so much more gentle! Great review and video in general! (Also I love those glasses)
So happy to see a cup in a video like this that is as stained as one of mine!! Over a long period of use it is definitely something that can't be avoided, and isn't an issue.
Why would people want to empty their cup in public restrooms? You can keep it inside for at least six hours, depending on the cup! And your flow. And, if you don't want to put it back bloody, just swipe it with toilet paper and voilà! I don't get why people get upset or disgusted by menstrual blood when they go see horror gore film with blood flawing and flying anywhere?
From my experience it sometimes is necessary to empty it in a public bathroom. To me that happens like once or twice a year, if I am on the go all day and my flow is heavy at some point the cup will be full and start to leak. Though I think the cup I am using is a bit smaller than hers, I am quite petit so that works really well for me. But it’s whatever, there’s worst things than emptying it in a public restroom.
On the first two days of my period my cup can be full within 3 hours so it's pretty necessary to empty it in public restrooms.. But wiping the outside with toilet paper totally works indeed, I mean it came out that way, so it doesn't matter if it goes back in 'dirty' right
I'm so glad to see you talking about this 😊 I've been using a menstrual cup for probably 4-5 years? (I've lost count), and i absolutely love mine. I have a couple of tips that might help for people who are worried about cups: 1. I have a super heavy flow, so i do need to empty my cup quite often - including in phblic restrooms. The easiest way i have found to do this is to pull it out and empty as normal, then wipe it clean with toilet paper. Ive never had any problems caused by doing this. When you get home, you can take it out and wash it properly then 😊 2. If you're worried about staining on your cup, you can use a soft toothbrush (obviously one only for this purpose), and a mild wash (like a feminine wash or sensitive skin face wash), and gently use the brush to scrub off the staining. Hope this helps! ❤❤❤
When I just started having periods I was so embarrassed and scared by them. Idk, it was just something no one would ever talk about. I love how open and honest Katrin is about periods, she would have definitely helped younger me! I love this video, I'm considering the cup even more now
I really really love your videos. I love how real, open and honest you are with anything and don't make everything a joke. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos thank you 💕
I’ve been using a cup for the last year and a half and I will never go back to tampons. I’ve saved so much money and I LOVE not having to pack tampons for travel. Pre-cup, I got my period on our honeymoon (3 weeks in Europe) and I had to buy tampons in Amsterdam. Granted, they were cheaper per unit than the USA, but still super annoying to have to use/carry! I’ve been preaching the good word about cups to everyone and glad to hear you are as well!
One of the best things I found while in Sweden and using the cup is that most of the public toilets (even most of the not segregated ones) have a private sink inside the toilet room.
thanks Kat for showing me the cup :) i used it for like a year and it was the best decision! No more pain and a dry vagi ;) because of the tampons! i really like it and hope more of you use it! I talked to my friends about it when they were complaining about tampons. And all of them switched to the cup and loving it. So please if you are unsure , try it out. Its not that expensive.
Dana Bauer soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight and it will look brand new afterwards. I’ve been using it for 5 years and it doesn’t look anything like that one.
I think we started using our cups at the same time more or less - I've had mine about a year. I still struggle to get mine out, I think it's purely my anatomy, and that's alright. It's still cheaper and better for the environment than tampons, and nobody died from a little bit of their own blood on their hands.
Taryn Ann Tibble-Vega same for me. I'm having trouble getting mine out. I can't reach the bottom of the cup, only the 'tail'. And there is not enough strength in my thumb and index finger to pull it out.. so it's just a lot of squatting and pushing in the shower before I get to reach the bottom of the cup. So I'm still not sure if u continue to use it. It has many pros, but this is a big con for me.
you must have a high cervix. I usually just sit on the toilet and push like I'm going to pee to make my cup go lower. It can be a pain if your muscles are weak. And if anything. you can always opt to buy a bigger cup so it's easier to grab. Also your cervix moves higher and lower during your cycle and just throughout the day in general so maybe you can find. better time to remove it if you don't want to buy a different size. ^^
Nice vid :) I use the cup for 3/4 years now and it's so wonderful ! Never any leakage, I don't feel anything, no more bad smell ! And I agree with you, you really don't need to take off your cup on a public restroom... 12h is enough to leave all the day your home and come back ! And also I quit the pill less than one month ago and have a copper IUD now :) I'am waiting for changes :)
This month it has been 1 year with the cup for me too. I was so scared at first to try it, it was weird the first 2-3 months, but one year later I can say that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's really life changing. Don't be scared to give it a try.
Thanks for the update Kat, I was curious to hear if you had the same experience as me since I started using the Menstrual Cup around the same period. And I agree on everything, it's the best period-thing I've ever tried! It's way cheaper and easier than buying tampons/pads every month, and it's so much more comfortable. I'm glad to hear that you feel good about it as well and that you talk about it, I think there is still a lot of taboo about period in general, and about Menstrual Cups as well. Some people are like "Ew, you put THAT in your vagina?" and I'm like "Uhm, yes? If a baby can fit in there, why should a tiny cup be a problem?"
I just started using a menstrual cup and so far I love it, despite the fact I’m still having a hard time inserting it. By far my favourite thing about it sleeping with it in. I find using pads difficult when sleeping because of only being able to lay in certain positions to avoid leaking. And using tampons when sleeping was almost out of the question because I don’t wanna die of toxic shock syndrome or potentially leak. Thank you for the update video though, I recently watched your first video about it and you pushed me to buy the product and try it out.
Your sound effects of your flow made me literally laugh out loud!!! I really wish I had the cup experience. I’ve tried it twice so far (it is a smaller one). If I wear it high enough not to feel it it makes me feel nauseous. Low enough to avoid the sick feeling I can feel it. SO frustrating! I’m gonna keep trying, but I’m beyond frustrated with it!
Very interesting update, thank you for sharing your opinions/feelings :) For me menstrual cup was one of the best things I've ever bought, super happy with mine. In the beginning I stressed about taking it out and spilling blood every where but it's actually nothing to worry about :D P.S. You look great in red :)
I'm so glad you are feeling comfortable with your emotional reactions again, Kat. Must be really irritating to be under lots of hormones. Birth control should be a shared task to all involved in a relationship and you and Sonny are so responsible and caring for each other. Great to see that cloud has gone! Big hug, beautiful!
I've been using the cup for some time (a year and half at least) and just like you, I think it's the best thing ever !! I travel a lot so having this thing that I can keep in my bag on the plane/train is sooo convenient ! And it's good for the environment ! What's not to like !
I've only gone one period with a menstrual cup, and it has been a bloody, leaky, challenge for me. I'm so glad you made this update video- I needed the encouragement that they really do work. Maybe I need a size up or probably just haven't gotten the hang of it yet. Next month though I'm going to try that insertion technique you showed! Hopefully it helps me haha
If you're caring for our cup as the instructions say, it's more than normal for it to look like that, and I don't believe it would be bad for you. I know they don't recommend using hydrogen peroxide in it, but like someone already said if you dilute it in water, it'll get rid of the stains and it shouldn't harm your cup. One thing they do say is that as long as it's not falling apart or like flaking off, it's still fine for use ;) mine cleared up completely when I soaked it in that mixture, and now I do it at the end of every cycle!
this video is everything i feel! the whole cloud in your mind leaving once you stop the pills is exactly what it felt like. also love my menstrual cup too and would recommend every woman to at least try them. also the withdrawal bleed is the first bleed you get after coming off the pills and isn't the same as a period. it'll happen about a month after you come off the pills so you'd think it were a period but my doctor told me it's not an actual period (due to lack of ovulation). from that point onwards it might take some time to get regular periods back (to start ovulating) but it's different for everyone. this might be why your period was so much better than it used to be. however i have to agree that my periods are much better now than they were before i started contraception (but that was 7 years ago). hoping youll do further update videos maybe on your future contraceptive plans and how youre feeling in a couple months (hopefully even better)!
Hi! I love how you are so open to talk about this topics on youtube, times are really changing for women. Just a tip about your menstrual cup: try to search a cleaning method with hydrogen peroxide, it will clean your cup very very well and get rid of the stains :)
Probably you have the product in your home so you only need to mix a little bit of it with water and put the cup there until the stains disappear. But it's just an "aesthetic" tip, no problem at all to have it stained :) Keep the good content! Cheers from Portugal :)
I have a green cup (Lunette I think it's called) that's about 3 years old and it's still green. A third option for using menstrual cup in a public restroom is to find a toilet with a sink in the same room. Sometimes regular stalls have one toilet stall with a sink, or simply use a handicap toilet since they usually have a sink in the room as well. (Just make sure not to hinder actual handicapped people and it should be fine)
If you want to get rid of the stains, leave your cup in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 12 hours and it's as good as new. :) One thing that needs to be talked about, is that your cup needs to fit your body, this depends on your pelvic floor and cervix, which determines the firmness and the length of the cup respectively. If the cup is too soft, i.e. your pelvic is too strong for the cup it might be pushed together, causing leakage or doesn't unfold easily. If the cup is too hard, i.e. your pelvic floor is too weak for the cup, it might slip down or feel uncomfortable. If your cup is too short, you might not be able to reach it (on reason for cup horror stories), if it's too long it might irritate you.
I just saw you title's video and went to look. Not that i need to be convinced! I've been out of birth control for 13yo (and yes the change after stopping were sufficiently clear that i never went back to it) And i've had a cup for something like ten years or more. Still have the same cup (i'm thinking to change it) the brand i have don't get stained (suppose it depends on the material) but who cares! I've have a heavy flow, so i need the change it often (and everywere). I often do the " empty it, put it back, wash we you have the opportunity". I sometimes will boiled it again during the cycle if i don't feel comfortable having it not washed for a long time (normally i boiled it when the period start, just before putting it). The important thing in the case where you emptied it and put it back is to wash your hand BEFORE going in the toilet (and after of course ;) ). But Katrin Berndt thank you for this video that will help others (and convince them ;) ).
Have used different kinds of cups (keepers, mooncups, divacups etc) since 2004 without any of them staining. The cleaning advice that I've always followed is to always rinse the cup with cold to lukewarm water during flow times, and then finish the cycle by letting it soak in a solution of water and apple cider vinegar (5:1) for approx. 3-4 hours. That kills off bacteria and the bad blood odeur completely. This way, the surface of the cup isn't damaged by heat. Besides, blood has a tendency to curdle in hot water, and therefore one should never try to clean blood off for instance clothes in hot water, because it will definitely stain. Use cold or lukewarm water with a mild soap instead and let it soak - has never failed me yet ;) thanks for a great vid!
Another tip for serious emotional issues before periods, that was a life-saver for me: Look into oestrogen balancing foods to eat. I've found, that if I eat a salad of cabbage (any kind, preferably with lemon, olive oil and avocado or whatever!) every day a week up to the flow, I don't get severe depressions, headaches and nausea like I always used to. I eat it as an addition to my normal food (but I do try to minimise my need for loads of chocolate, which may help as well :)). Sorry for the very long info, just felt I finally had some knowledge to share :)!
Birth control made me crazy, I had the same cloudiness in my mind. I couldn’t even be in control of my emotions, I’d cry at everything. Now that I’m off birth control, the things that would make me cry, now just go over my head. I never cry anymore, I don’t hate myself anymore, I’m finally in such a happy place despite uni causing stress. Birth control really isn’t for many women :(
I had a similar experience will pills! I used to have heavy cramps. The pill made my period lighter and cleared my skin, but it made me angry for no reason. And after I stopped the pill, my flow got soooo much lighter and less painful. And I had control over my emotions again. Thanks for sharing for experience!
Dana Bauer soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight and it will look brand new afterwards. I’ve been using it for 5 years and it doesn’t look anything like that one.
I'm getting a birth control injection (stops period completely) because literally can't afford to have my period + I was way too scared to try the mentrual cup but you have made me feel so much better about it! When I stop taking birth control I'm definitely going to give it a go!!
Be careful with depo shots if that's what your getting. They're so harmful. They can cause infertility, weight gain, extreme bleeding, and so much more. I was on it and it was terrible. It made me so sick and i gained 45 lbs withing the first few months of being on it. Since being off i dropped 25 lbs almost instantly and feel so much better. Be careful hun. ❤
Lilianna cloud Thanks for the advice but I've been on it for about a year and it's doing wonders for me! The side effects you're talking about are the side effects I had with the pill which is why I went on the depo! Thank you again for looking out for me
Ok, so for those of you here with an extremely heavy, or extremely filled with cramps period. This is my personal experience with a menstrual cup. I’ve been using them for 2 years now. I use the Meluna cup in “sport large” or something like that. It’s the biggest strongest one they have and I fill that up 4-5 times a day for the first 3 days. I find using the cup myself is about as bad as tampons because of my flow. I leak often because of how much I fill it which means I need to carry panty liners, pads if the cup somehow moves around and creates worse cramps, extra underwear just in case I run out of liners and a couple tampons in case I can’t get my cup back in because of my vagina being swollen. If I’m having extremely bad cramps I tend to skip the cup because in my own personal experience it makes it 10x worse than with a tampon. I do enjoy the cup when I’m not cramping or my flow is lighter but sometimes it’s a hassle. I think they may be more suited for lighter flows and women with less cramps but of course everybody’s experience is different so it may not be as bad for you as it is for me sometimes. I hoped this helped someone and Katrin did a really good job on this video explaining everything that she experienced with the cup and going off birth control.
Sometimes mine has spilt, but it hardly ever happens. And if it happens, you go to the public bathroom and do what you said. If you feel uncomfortable not rinsing it before using it again, you can carry a bottle of water in your bag and rinse it. It's the best thing that has ever happened. Plus... you can use it while sleeping... amazing.
i got off the birth control on the end of february. and its so interesting, because I'm thinking much more about myself and the things I feel. It's strange I think about not taking it everyday. but now I'm notecing my body and it's little calls like cramps or something much more. I'm looking forward to feel my body much more as I was not.
To prevent staining first rinse it with cold water and then you can go with the hat water or boiling, but the only important thing is that its clran when you use it.I dont really care if it stains that much
It is so interesting to listen to you talking about such a topic! Very informative :) It was so hilarious when you said "for those of you who don't know the anatomy very well" LOL (i dare say there are such people out there, sadly...)
Hi Katrin! I have been using a menstrual cup for almost two years now, and after my period is done I always put it in water with some chlorine. It helps with the stains, mine is only a little yellow in the edge. I hope this helps all the women using cups 😉
I love that you're wearing red in this video :p I also use a menstrual cup, but I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's just really difficult for me to insert (I'm just really really tight) and also very difficult to remove (because it always creates a vacuum and it's very high up, so I have to reach up incredibly far). Still use it, because when it's in, I'm not aware that I'm on my period, which is amazing.
I boil my menstrual cup with vinegar and it sterilizes it and keeps it from getting stained. Mine is nearly two years old and is yellowish, if stains are a deal breaker for you try it
Im using a cup for almost three years now, using a different one than I started with, both got stains after a few month. For me it definitely changed my life - and no, I'm not trying to be dramatic about it. The only thing I want to add is, that with an actually heavy flow you might have to empty the cup more often than just every 10-12 hours. I once overflowed after 4 hours (first day of period). It never happened since but now I try to check on it every 4 hours during the first day. I make sure to empty it before I leave the house and I am aware which bathrooms have a sink in them when I'm out. If I don't know if I will be able to use a bathroom, I use liners. For me it's the best thing ever. Will never ever use anything else. It's so clean and convenient. I wish more women would give it a try.
My periods used to be all over the shop. I didn't have one for 4 months (not pregnant) and then had 3 within five weeks. I completely put it down to the menstrual cup that it straightened it out. I don't know if my body reacted badly to tampons or something, but as soon as I used the cup, my periods are now as regular as clockwork. I think it might have something to do with the medical grade silicone. If I'm a day or two late, that's a massive surprise! Using a cup, I can actually forget that I'm on my period, and that NEVER happened before!
The menstral cup has been a life saver every month for me since I was 16. My period has always been suupperrr heavy flow. Before I would have go wear the super delux tampons on top of a giant pad and I would bleed through that in an hour. I can wear the cup for like 5-10 hours without any issues. Like seriously no amount of "cons" against it will ever make me swtich back.
I just came off blood control 2 months ago due to the doctors finding a blood clot in one of my veins. It wasn’t really a choice for me but I 100% know what that cloud being lifted feels like. I feel so much more human, I gained a lot of weight due to the birth control and I’m hoping now I’ll finally be able to lose it. It felt like no matter what, I couldn’t lose any weight.
For me, the 12 hour limit was not enough because i was going to college far from my home, especially during finals. But after a 3 or 4 uses you kinda don't give a damn and do the water bottle trick. It was really less convenient with tampons. And i relate 100% to the feeling of not wanting to put your hands up your vagina every day. Great video !
Ive used menstural cups for about 12 years! My first cup was fine for the first 7, and I got a larger one post baby having. Mine are always stained! So normal. I will never go back, I’ve spent $60 on period products in 12 years. Tampons gave me yeast infections when I used anything that wasn’t unbleached. I love that theirs no rick of TSS with these (so long as their good quality and you’re not using soap or random cleaning solutions for them that aren’t vaginally safe) magic.
I just want to buy a menstrual up right now after seeing this video, I mean the cons are not that bad, I guess is up to each personal preference, but deff worth a try, thanks Katrin for sharing your esperience about new things you try and the fact that you are so honest about it, also sorry for not watch that often your videos (specially the swedish ones) but working is consuming all my free time :(
Have you heard about the Lunette cupwipes? Those are really easy way to clean the menstrual cup if there is no water available! You can throw it in to the toilet or if you are uotside hiking/camping and there is no real toilet you can dig it to the ground and it will molder quite quickly! And I also just love my cup!! I've said my friends that it "saved my life" :'D Periods do not disturb my life anymore! It feels almost like I don't have Periods anymore when I'm using my cup!!
I've had many pills over the years and in my experience it is crucial to find the right one for you. The one I am taking now is AMAZING! No side affects, 28 days control, no cycle, no bleeding. I feel great! And it has no long term difficulties. When I stop taking them, everything will go back to normal. The name is Jubrele btw. So really, if you think your pill affects your mental health, then switch to a different one.
It is interesting how I am the exact opposite. I can't imagine my life without being on birth control. I'm not on in for birth control on in it for regulation but it really helps me with the pain and emotions and pimples. The only bad part for me is that it makes my skin more sensitive to sun exposure. Especially exposure to UV lights. But I'm already sensitive to that so I already know how to protect myself. I'm glad you realized it wasn't working for you. I really hope you do find what works for you, if you haven't already! And I use menstrual cups too and they are amazing!!!
I saw the thumbnail for this video on my feed right before I fell asleep last night and you ended up being in my dream! Haha you were a bartender at a ski hill or something I was at! Thought I'd mention it lol but anyway I just watched the video and I just wanna say thank you! Very informative. I just got a menstrual cup but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Also, as I understand it, the staining is totally normal and you dont seem bothered by it at all but for anyone who IS, I've heard that when you dump it out and rinse it, to use cold water at first to get most of the blood off and then warm water after before re-inserting it? I guess it helps because apparently the warm water contributes a lot to the staining cause it makes it seep in or something I dont know lol but just a tip I thought I'd pass along. I've also heard that if you leave it in the sun to dry after boiling it between cycles that can help too!
I'm using my cup for 4 months now and I truely think it was the best thing I could do to make my life so much easier, period! (haha :D) And actually your video inspired me to try it out, thanks Kat :)
I think the most I've had to empty my cup in one day was like, five times. Usually the most I have to empty it in one day is three, morning, afternoon and night when the flow is heavy. I guess my flow was just hella heavy that day. It was wild.
I use the cup too and I never wanna miss it! Because I'm on the pill, my flow is pretty light and the cup stays inside of me from morning to evening! When I used to use tampons, I hat to change it after a few hours but now I really don't have to worry about anything. I actually don't even mind when I'm on my period 😄
Also I’d say I have a medium-heavy flow and have never come close to filling the cup. And because you can keep it in for 12 hours if I know I’m going out where there won’t be a private restroom I just make sure to time my changing it so that I won’t need to change it again until I get home
dont worry. mine is totally stained! :D and i was unsure if thats it because i dont cleaned it enough. I was happy as i saw your cup in the video :D
But who cares about stains anyways :D
but also, who cares if its stained? so dumb.
The fact that you are wearing a red shirt throughout this whole video is actually brilliant.
"If you don't want to hear me talk about my period, then what are you even doing here?" 😂
I genuinely appreciate your openness and honesty. Your channel is so versatile, and I know every time I click on a video- no matter the subject- it's going to be straightforward and no bullshit.
At one point in the video you said “I’m perfectly fine with that” and an ad interrupted you and it made it sound like you said “I’m perfect” and I was just like
Yes, I agree with this statement
Emily Peters the same thing happened to me too LOL
"I will never ever ever go back to tampons"
Totally the best investment and I won't ever go back either!!!
Seriously people, menstrual cups are a game changer.
another public restroom hack: wheelchair restrooms! They have a sink in the same room. I always feel a little guilty doing it but they're often free and it's much easier.
Yes! I do this all the time. I live in a very small town, so those restrooms are 99% of the time empty.
I know it´s easier, I get it, but please don't use those restrooms. As a person who actually needs them i can't tell you how many times I was unable to use it because someone who was abled bodied was using it, just because it was bigger, or had a sink in it or some other stupid reason. Just because they're often free, doesn't mean you should use them.
heyletsread People actually need them if they need them for the sink or whatever.
heyletsread Everyone is able to use any restroom.
Soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight it'll look brand-new after
greatwhiteprivilege Wow, you really are privileged then.... lol
THANK YOU !!!!
U by Kotex ones for thongs!!! they are so tiny and work wonders
I love your glasses, I think the shape really suits you :) Great video as well!
YOU'RE TOTALLY ON POINT.
Lmao. All I can think about is the people that said her brows were out of control. They look so nice, they are so proportionate and suit her really well!
sure, they're off birth control XD
Linda Ham truuuuuue. Birth control made my eyebrow hair so thin!!!
I don't want to use tampons (especially the Tampax brand) because they dry out my vaginal walls so much that they hurt. also now that I am used to the cup, wearing a pad feels like wearing a diaper... no thanks.
Ok, convinced, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your update with longterm experiences to the mens cup. Just ordered one...
Women’s bodies are so stigmatized so it’s really refreshing to hear you talk about menstrual cycles like the totally normal things that they are
I really need to give it a go at the menstrual cup! So sick of pads and all that crap.
Thanks! 🤗
You explained the feeling after coming off of birth control so well! Like spot on.
:) Now I'm on birth control though, so I don't really get periods.
posilucky I keep a packet of wet wipes in my bag in case of emergency’s
There are also specific cup wipes for menstrual cup for example Lunette´s cup wipes :).
You can actually keep a cup in for up to 12 hours!
On the first two days of my period my cup can be full within 3 hours so it's pretty necessary to empty it in public restrooms.. But wiping the outside with toilet paper totally works indeed, I mean it came out that way, so it doesn't matter if it goes back in 'dirty' right
When I was on a 25 hour coach journy I had no choice at all.
Lol I can fill my cup up in an hour on my heaviest days so sometimes we can’t wait 6 hours to get home 🤷🏻♀️
Coming off the pill next week, this makes me v excited 💃
I'm so glad to see you talking about this 😊
I've been using a menstrual cup for probably 4-5 years? (I've lost count), and i absolutely love mine.
I have a couple of tips that might help for people who are worried about cups:
1. I have a super heavy flow, so i do need to empty my cup quite often - including in phblic restrooms. The easiest way i have found to do this is to pull it out and empty as normal, then wipe it clean with toilet paper. Ive never had any problems caused by doing this. When you get home, you can take it out and wash it properly then 😊
Wow, on my heavy day I fill the cup two or three times to leaking point! Still think it’s great and I have never had a problem in a public restroom. 👍
A stained cup is actually very normal. If you soak it in hydrogen peroxide the stains come off. :)
Yeah, best invention ever. I wish I had it since the beginning
i am completely the same! i started using a cup and it was life changing and i will never ever go back!!!!!
Your tattoos are incredible! Lov them
If you're caring for our cup as the instructions say, it's more than normal for it to look like that, and I don't believe it would be bad for you.
Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite!
Hi! I love how you are so open to talk about this topics on youtube, times are really changing for women. Just a tip about your menstrual cup: try to search a cleaning method with hydrogen peroxide, it will clean your cup very very well and get rid of the stains :)
I don’t care enough about the stains to try a bunch of things haha. I sterilize it and that’s enough. ^^
Probably you have the product in your home so you only need to mix a little bit of it with water and put the cup there until the stains disappear. But it's just an "aesthetic" tip, no problem at all to have it stained :) Keep the good content! Cheers from Portugal :)
I love this video! I’ve been using my diva cup for about a year and a half now and I would never go back!
The menstrual cup is the best thing I've purchased, like ever! Try it everybody!
If you want to get rid of the stains, leave your cup in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 12 hours and it's as good as new. :)
One thing that needs to be talked about, is that your cup needs to fit your body, this depends on your pelvic floor and cervix, which determines the firmness and the length of the cup respectively.
I love the subtlety of the red t-shirt in accordance to the subject :))
It’s been about a year since I’ve been off depo provera injections and oh my god am I happy to be back to myself!! I love my cup as well!
I've been using my cup for about 3+ years and love it! And my cup is stained just like yours, I've come to terms with that lol
Dana Bauer soak your cup in hydrogen peroxide overnight and it will look brand new afterwards. I’ve been using it for 5 years and it doesn’t look anything like that one.
I usually rinse my cup in cold water before using hot water and my cup is not stained. Have had it for close to a year now.
I'm getting a birth control injection (stops period completely) because literally can't afford to have my period + I was way too scared to try the mentrual cup but you have made me feel so much better about it! When I stop taking birth control I'm definitely going to give it a go!!
Where are you from that it's cheaper for you to get a BC injection than a menstrual cup?
Be careful with depo shots if that's what your getting. They're so harmful. They can cause infertility, weight gain, extreme bleeding, and so much more. I was on it and it was terrible. It made me so sick and i gained 45 lbs withing the first few months of being on it. Since being off i dropped 25 lbs almost instantly and feel so much better. Be careful hun. ❤
Lilianna cloud Thanks for the advice but I've been on it for about a year and it's doing wonders for me! The side effects you're talking about are the side effects I had with the pill which is why I went on the depo! Thank you again for looking out for me
Bea dC In the UK the injection is free
Hannah Bennett I wish, I live in Australia so it costs me around 6$ every 3 months
I'm looking forward to feel my body much more as I was not.
i love how open you are about topics like this plus i love your glasses!!
holy cow, you are entertaining to watch. And now I'm curious to try a cup one day too. I would have never thought. keep being awesome .
Red suits you so well!
Hi Katrin! I have been using a menstrual cup for almost two years now, and after my period is done I always put it in water with some chlorine. It helps with the stains, mine is only a little yellow in the edge. I hope this helps all the women using cups 😉
About the cup. First wash it with icy cold water and then warm!
I love that you're wearing red in this video :p
I also use a menstrual cup, but I have a love/hate relationship with it.
My cup was stained too, but I saw a tutorial and it recommend let the cup inside a glass bowl with peroxide around 1 day or till it gets cleared
Like seriously no amount of "cons" against it will ever make me swtich back.
oh the staining, I solved that problem with soaking in dilute hydrogen peroxide over night and it looks brand new.
I love you for videos like this. ♥ We should all be able to speak so openly about shit that's natural.
I love love love my menstrual cup! Will never go back!
