“They call me the hunter…that’s my name…” over a predatory savage groove that they build off of the resolving notes of the previous phrase. They turn a resolve into a groove and then layer a new counter vocal line on top of it; literally ripping the whole song inside out. Zepp is another world.

Bonham hit those drums over 50 years ago and I’m still feeling the vibrations in my spine. There’s a reason the phrase hammer of the gods applies so well. It’s like the gods of Olympus rehearsing in the clouds above you, and they are stomping their feet.

Great reaction. It's always nice to see young people get exposed to older rock music. You're almost surprised that rock music can exist like this. Theres nothing wrong with enjoying today's music, but what some of you young folks need to understand (and it's no fault of your own) is just how much the music industry changed. The industry of today is INCREDIBLY commercialized and marketed ( the emergence of MTV started this in the 80s).
As of today, the leading genre of music is hip hop, electronic pop and rap. Rock music, as a result, has sort of become a secondary genre to the mainstream music, music that (without offense to the primary genres) is commercialized. And because of that's how the industry works, the rock music that DOES bleed into the mainstream ITSELF is very commercialized like the primary genres. It's tough to make it today because you need to have a sound, an image, a product and saturated. This promotes less flexibility between artists at the top. There is PLENTY of talent out there, but you won't see them in the mainstream. The biggest rock band of the last 20 years is the Foo Fighters, who are still a product of modern rock.
Led Zeppelin on the other hand were the biggest band in a time when the music industry was fresh, new, and confused about how to make it's money. The formula was simple. MUCH more simple than today. Market the most talented artists and the most talented groups. Regardless of what they sound like. They are going to make good music because the musician ship is top quality. Additionally, Rock WAS the primary genre back then.
Fast forward again today, you hear your rap, your hip hop, your pop, all commercialized. You hear your less popular rock/punk rock today, also commercialized.
So it's always exciting to see young folks like yourself expose yourself to older rock music that *made it* just because the artists were world class musicians. With all due respect to the foo fighters, rise against, green day, Greta van fleet etc, replace any of Led Zeppelin's members with any of today's main rock artists and they'd drag Zeppelin out of the limelight. There's talent out there, but it isn't promoted by the industry.
Back in the 60s and 70s, the talent made it's way to the rock genre, and it was NOT hidden.
Congratulations...you are now exposed to some high quality rock music the blows away anything of today.

This song came about from various bits and pieces Jimmy had developed while in The Yardbirds as well as bits of blues numbers Robert ad-libbed. The whole thing crashes and bashes with an infectious groove that leaves you wrung out and exhausted yet somehow still exhilarated. What a way to end a debut album!

This debut was like four superb musicians got together and pulled out some bits of Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson and Big Joe Turner, and then they said, "Hey,, lets turn everthing up to eleven during the next full moon phase and record some epic jams live off the floor nonstop for three weeks!!"
Because Jimmy Page knew that all he had to do was let the wild stallion out of the gates and then hang on for dear life as they rode it. Explosive, passionate, raw and unstoppable...

You’ve done WLL from RAH. Now compare to 1973 MSG where it’s literally the show stopper. Another stunner is WLL from 2007… their last concert as Zeppelin…a one-off concert with Jason Bonham (Bonzo’s son) as drummer. They are still magnificent. And I’m not saying magnificent for their age. I’m saying they’ve still totally got it.
