  • In this video we check out the Beelink SER5 Max mini PC featuring AMD's 8 core Ryzen 5800H CPU now at its max limit of 54W. There's a nice improvement in multicore CPU performance over the Beelink SER5 Pro. But is it enough?

    Thank you Robtech for your amazing work on Mini PC reviews 👌
    It would be great if you could unmount completely the Mini PCs to see cooling fan/heatsink inside for your next reviews please. 🙏
    Comparing differents cooling fans/heatsinks solutions between systems would be very interesting. 🧐

      @@KatRollo Thanks a lot for your reply ! 🙏 I didn't watch his SER6 Pro review until now and you're absolutely right he unmounted it completely, we can even see the (rather small) heatsink ! 🧐

    Great to see. Were these examples using a 4K monitor? I've tried emulating even old games on another mini PC and it worked fine with an older TV, but there was a lot of lag even on those old games as soon as I switched to using a 4K TV.

    • @axeami1354
      @axeami1354 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Emulators are finicky things, many old games were never designed to run at 4k so play up and glitch when forced to do so, even if you technically have the power to run them at 4k. two ways to try and get around this is to simply drop the computers resolution when playing the emulator, or drop the emulators resolution and upscale it if it'll let you.

    Hi Rob, thanks for the awesome review. You mentioned you had wifi issues with the SER5 Pro. I have a SER5 5560U and a SER5 MAX 5800H. I have them side by side, connected to my Asus AX3000 router (5Ghz) located some 25+ feet away.
    The 5560U achieves a download speed of 250Mbps vs 70Mbps for the 5800H. 😢 Both minis are using the Intel AX200 wifi card, on identical drivers.
    I have tried everything from uninstalling to reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, reseating the wifi card. Short of replacing the wifi card, any idea how I might troubleshoot this issue? Is it a faulty card? Could it be faulty antennas instead?
    Appreciate any input on the matter.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @Robtech
      @Robtech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It'll just be the way the antennas have been placed in the mini which is limiting the range. Likely if you moved it closer it would match the other mini PC. I plan to add WiFi speed testing in the future. What are you using to check at the moment?

    I feel like the max is a cop out, because the pro has the ability to up the TDP in bios from the stock 35w, up to a stable 45w, which pretty much resembles the same specs as the max, but for the extra bit of cash, you're only paying for the ashetics. Still a good review from a SER5 Pro owner.

    if anyone is interested. the Beelink ser5 Pro runs half-life Alyx via steam vr. Yes, the graphics are not top-notch, but the game is still great. I tried the Beelink 12th Gen Mini PC SEi12 Pro, i7 and it failed miserably. The only reason I thought was that the ser5 pro has an AMD chipset whereas the sei12 has Intel.

    Hmm, not sure all that extra noise is worth like +5% in performance unless you are doing a ton of multi-core work. 5800H is a fine office/web browsing cpu, but really the 6000+ series were a big leap forward with DDR5, PCIE 4.0, and AV1 hardware decoding on an igpu that's 2x faster. Of course you'll pay $150+ more for it. ($500 vs $350ish)

    • @KatRollo
      @KatRollo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. This is a case of you get what you pay for and I don't mean that badly at all for 5800H. It's powerful enough to do PS3/Switch emulation without having to shell the premium cost for RDNA2 or higher.
      It's a very capable midrange APU if you know what you want from it with a good budget offering.
