I found the annoying issue with the audio and video timing not matching can be corrected by adding a negative audio delay of 150ms. Negative delay meaning the audio is moved 150ms sooner (i.e. the existing audio delay gets removed)... a bit confusing but it's how most software phrase this sort of thing.
