True story! about 40 years AGO In Jacksonville, FL, a co-worker showed up with a bandage on her forehead. We asked her if her husband had been beaten on her. She said, "No, but I forgot to fasten my seatbelt and Bubba spotted an Armadillo crossing the ditch and went after it." She brought us some of it the next day, barbequed. Delicious!
Only a five-pounder? Need to catch that one, bubba, and fatten him up on some feed corn. Everybody in this neck of the woods knows that you don't shoot possums you intend to eat, you catch them and cage them and then feed them on corn for a couple of weeks to clean them out. You do the same thing with coons, too. Bein' as they are both scavengers, you have to clean them out real good 'for you eat them to keep from gettin' sick an get the best flavor. Yall holler back if I ain't saying the truth. My Daddy was from Jewel Ridge and my Momma was from Bear Waller, both my Grandpappies were coal miners. I know a thing or two about dining on a thin pocket book.
Had friend that specialized in awesome possum pie. Once he had a dead possum hanging by the tail. Except that possum was playing possum, reach up and bit his finger! I’ve driven many a mile. Biggest roadkill I ever saw was a gator in I-95 in Florida.
Oh, well, at least he took it home for supper. Waste not, want not. We had a dude over my way who was so drunk, he tried to give one mouth to mouth recesatation.😱
i drove into the city one sunday morning and came up with a heehaw-ish diddy , muskrat kitty cat possum coon, dinner is not ready yet but it will be soon

It irritates me that when I would watch The Marty Stuart show, when it came time for Leroy Troy to play/sing, Marty has to be so loud with his comments or laughter, when Leroy is trying to sing. I'd like to hear Leroy, not Marty's antics or laughter.
