    Nice vid man. I just ordered one of these actually. Main thing I want is to use it as a simple load box so I can play through my Blue Deville in my apartment with a decent load on the tubes, but the IRs sound real nice. Very excited :)
    P.S. would've been nice to see some light clipping OD sounds

      Thanks for the comment! Excellent choice! You won’t be disappointed 🔥 it is such a game changer for playing at home. The fantastic thing about this unit is the fact you can swap IRs but I think the Suhr ones sound good.
      Thanks for the feedback man! I can’t quite remember why I didn’t show some lightly overdriven tones to be honest 😂 I will bare that in mind in the future. That said, light clipped sounds work brilliantly with the reactive load. It responds to pedals just like a real cabinet - you won’t be able to tell the difference!
      Hope you enjoy man and all the best. Thanks for checking out my video 👍🏻🎸

      @@SeanBennettGuitar Glad you said that about it responding well to pedals, was another concern of mine. Cheers buddy, looking forward to the next vid :)

      I use the Reactive Load with pedals all the time and can’t tell the difference between the response of the IRs and a real amp 😎 let me know how you get on with it!

      @@SeanBennettGuitar so does the reactive load mean you can play on a tube amp quietly but also record with the IR,s? or can you record the genuine sound of the tube with the reactive load? Looking to start recording with my tube amp but don't know what the best option is to purchase

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@leogaiz7751 Yes! I was recording my tube amp and half volume at 12am a couple of nights ago through my reactive load - no one could hear a thing! You can use headphones to hear yourself play on a valve amp with no noise using the Suhr reactive load 👍🏻

    Thanks for the video, could you explain again for me what you meant at 11:04 about the cables, If I plug the filtered 1/4 into the 1/4 on the front of my interface will i not get the processed sound? Cheers!

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, thanks for the comment! Of course, no problem. The interface output to the monitors are the issue, not the loadbox to audio interface input. Basically if you connect a 1/4” to 1/4” jack from your interface outputs (L&R) to your monitors you will only hear the unfiltered sound (despite connecting the jack from the filtered input to the input of the audio interface). Instead, I had to use a 1/4” to XLR cable from the interface outputs (1/4” inch end) to the monitors (XLR end). This is because my audio interface doesn’t have XLR outputs. That was the only configuration that allowed me to hear the filtered sound when playing. This took me months and months to figure out and was a proper pain 😂 sorry if that sounds confusing! To summarise: just use a 1/4” to XLR cable from your audio interface outputs to your monitors 👍🏻 any issues let me know!

      @@SeanBennettGuitar Thanks for your reply mate, I'm planning to pick up some monitors this week which are XLR inputs, so hopefully the 1/4" to them will be fine!

      No problem man. That was my experience anyhow so I’m sure it would be the same for you. It’s a great piece of kit though; however, I don’t want anyone having the same headache as I did initially 😂

    Sean thank you so much for the deep and clear review ! would you please explain more the routing of how to plug this into the soundcard ? since i didn't quite get it from the video ! thank you so much man !

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! Sure no problem. Basically you connect either the ‘filtered’ or ‘unfiltered’ sound (via the back of the unit) into the input of your audio interface via 1/4” jack. Next, you open your DAW, switch on input monitoring and you will hear the reactive load do it’s magic. There’s no configurations you need to setup with your sound card - at least in my experience anyway! Hope this helps and thanks for the comment 😊

    By far the best tones I heard out of the Suhr IR. I play death metal but I can tell this should work for me (if I had the money to burn.) Though I do wish the thing wasn't $600

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I don’t tend to use the built in IR cabs these days unless I’m running overdrive pedals into the amp. They somehow respond better to the built in IR’s of the load box than something like GGD ZILLA which I use for rhythm tones. Thanks for the comment!

      @@SeanBennettGuitar interesting. I would think 3rd party Mesa Oversized 4x12's would be the IR for me but if I ever get one I'll check the included ones since I will use a 5150 and Maxon OD808.

      I’ve heard the Ownhammer IR presets are amazing! The good thing with this unit is that you can swap the IRs out which was the deal maker for me! Preset 3.2 was the best, to my ears, for metal and 4.4 for rock/leads. Surprisingly the mics and cabs they used for those presets were nothing like I expected.

    Would you recommend this unit over amp modeler like the Dream 65 , etc . I have a Tone King Gremlin 5 watt amp that I’m not able to crank and play because I don’t want to wake up the kids/wife .

      Depends really. If you really like the amp, then I'd say get the Suhr Reactive Load IR. I'm not the biggest fan of the Dream '65 and would still prefer to play a real tube amp.

      No problem! Thanks for commenting. Yeah the headphone out sounds really good when using the IRs! I've only used it a couple of times but had absolutely no issues with it. The headphone volume control is brilliant too.

      @Christopher Har V great name for a song 😂

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Christopher Har V nothing serious! Basically I had one of the very few units that had some background noise when recording (so Suhr told me). They said that a certain type of adapter would fix the issue, or I could send them the unit free of charge and modify the output. I chose the latter and they were really good at sorting it for me!

  • @sbrave

    Just got one of these used. The IR output is barely audible, even when the DI knob is cranked, vs the non-IR output, which has no issues. Using a 100w Marshall head @8 ohms, and sounds fine going through my real cab as well. I verified the IR's are in their folders, so not sure what else it could be? I tried balanced and unbalanced cables as the outputs to my DAW.
