    If this is something she's been doing for a while, she's probably repositioned her organs lower in her abdomen. The danger lies in doing this too quickly, just like with anything. Yes it is extreme, but she might be just fine. Hating and shaming will *NOT* help her condition.

      This isn’t just an organ issue. Using a corset, especially tight lacing like this for long periods of time, can have serious ramifications on the muscular structure of the abdominal region. Essentially, your body gets used to not having to use the muscles/support your upper body because the corset does it, and they begin to atrophy, thinning and weakening with time. This means not only does she have inadequate protection around her abdomen in the event she has a fall, collides with something, ect. but also she could be setting herself up for major back pain in the future due to the lack of abdominal support

She may still be able to have a healthy baby if she stops corseting before getting pregnant. That said being naturally very petite and having practiced extreme corseting are two different things. Gradually constricting your waist to this degree forces your organs to rearrange which could potentially impact the uterus and complicate pregnancy.

    The corset was supposed to be for extra support not to do this. No way this is going to strengthen her core. I love corsets but women historically fainted due to the squeezing on lungs reducing how much air they can intake and also it moves internal organs. In fact there are other women who have done the extreme corseting that have gotten to the point they no longer can live without the corset because it weakens their core that badly.

    • @alohakitty843
      @alohakitty843 3 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Only if they were worn incorrectly. A true comfortable corset should give you no pain, no shortness of breath and shouldn't move your organs. I've done enough historical research and costume wearing to know they were meant to help with the structure of your clothing, and nothing more. Gibson girls were high society ideals of the time, who did nothing, and were corseted to the high heavens because the man's ideal was to be able to wrap his hands around her waist. Consider that a moment. It wasn't 'all' people of the time period, be careful making that statement. Also remember, many women padded their hips to make their waists appear smaller making the waist look more extreme. They wore their hair and hats HUGE along with large shoulders to also do the same thing. This is why waists looked tiny...it wasn't the corseting 100%.

    • @vysharra
      @vysharra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@alohakitty843 Gibson girls had massive ‘padding’ to get the ideal ‘pigeon breast’ look, they stood weird to accentuate the S curve of the spine and almost every commercial photograph was altered (the OG Photoshop) to give the wait a more severe look. Corseting does not equal tightlacing. Tightlacing is what causes the long term damage, whereas regular wearing is mostly for support or to get a temporary shape. And one of the reasons people believe people were commonly tight lacing is because of the garments that survive. Uncommon sizes were used less because they couldn't be passed down as easily therefore they survived. Most people achieved the ideal shape of the time by padding out the hips and bust not by lacing it tight around the waist. I mentioned Bernadette banner. I have hypermobility in certain areas. I've seen people use corsetry, including neck and wrist versions of corsets for such conditions. But it has to be about support, not restricting too much. I use elastic, spandex, and neoprene stuff for my condition, although I would like to make myself a corset since my spine sometimes moves in ways it shouldn't. I do know how to fit things properly, and overbust is actually better, so that's what I'd do. More comfy than a bra.

    okay, I feel like some people don't know enough about corsets...
    yes, corsets shift your organs.
    yes, they could weaken your muscles.
    yes, they can be dangerous.
    which is why people have to educate themselves about corsets before buying them.
    You have to buy the right size, the right length for your upper body, you have to start off slowy with the waist training process, so your body can accomodate over time. You should know what kind of corset is right for you, if you like the feeling at all. You have to work out so your muscles don't lose strength, look after a high enough protein intake and, most of all, give your body a break (at least 14 hours for a trained person).
    What she is doing is tight lacing. It can be really dangerous, if she did it too fast, didn't work out, etc.
    But she said it herself, that she had worn other corsets before, until she was able to close them completely (which takes time, many months, sometimes years. it depends on the body). That is the right thing to do.
    She is also working out, etc.
    I'm also sure, that the corsets helps her with her posture and strength (being able to uphold for a longer time). Especially when a doctor advised and introduced her to corsets.
    I feel like the video doesn't highlight how much work goes into wearing corsets. We also don't know about anything else affecting her.
    To say that she looks tired because of a corset is a little quick to judge. It could be hormonal issues it could be the other condition (which might also affect the muscles in her face, causing it to look slimmer, etc).
    wearing corsets does not translate to being crazy and unhealthy. Please remember that, even if you're concerned.

    Properly fitted corsets can help with conditions like hers due to the firm but ultimately gentle support. Tight lacing as she does it, even if worked up to gradually, eventually exacerbates such conditions because it causes loss of muscle tone and in the most extreme cases women have actually lost the ability to hold up their own bodies without the corset on. I worry she's headed in that direction.

    • @cottoncandie761
      @cottoncandie761 ปีที่แล้ว

      She already has muscle loss from her condition aka her body is unable to create the proteins and connective collagen that the rest of us take for granted. Hence being advised to wear external support because her body doesn't have the means to restore or repair muscles that are being used all the time. Her corsets are preventative to hyperlaxity causing cumulative damage.

    Hope that its a healthy transformation. It's not to good to force our anatomical limits in the name of a personal pleasure or desire. I think that its very important to be balanced and to accept your body as it is, because we are unic anyway.

    If she already had a smaller waist to begin with and she's so young it makes sense. Most people who corset go down 4"

    How is this okay, to the point where it becomes a video on TH-cam as something "unique" and "different"? This poor girl suffers from severe body dysmorphia. It's not a trend or something to be inspired by, that girl probably needs serious help. I wish her the best in life, she seems a genuinely nice person 💐

    Ah, yes. Willfully damaging your organs for a wasp waist. This clearly no longer has anything to do with her condition.

    Why are people talking about this as if they know anything about corsetting, her condition and her doctor. She obviously knows what she is doing, yall are just hating because you fear what is unknown to you. It's her life, her passion.

    You look beautiful ❤. I’ve been wearing corsets for over 30 years. My waist is 24” naturally, with tight lacing, I get to about 19”.

    I'm sure when the doctor told her to wear a corset/abdominal binder this is absolutely not what they had in mind she would be doing. I strongly recommend against this practice to this degree. This is not safe for your internal organs. Seems she is doing this for attention and vanity versus actual health benefits.

    SOMEONE PIN THIS SO EVERYONE CAN SEE IT:
    Tight-lacing, (in short)is the practice of slowly tightening a corset to reduce your waist diameter. If done correctly, this practice is completely safe and does NOT do ANY DAMAGE in the internal body. This woman has been tight-lacing for years and clearly knows what she is doing. She has studied corsets and is clearly committed to the craft.
    Actresses often complain about having to wear corsets on set, saying they are uncomfortable or damaging. This simply is not true. Most of the actresses are forced to wear corsets that are not fitted to their measurements or body type. Which can actually be damaging. If you wear a good quality corset which is to your body type and size. You can, with alot of time and practice close your waist, though with the reduction that she has i can deduce that she has been gradually reducing her waist diameter for years
    Tight lacing also requires exercise to maintain abdominal muscles, and im sure she does so, since she would be severely injured by now :)
    There is alot of stigma and bad wording about corsetry, however most of these are myths. If you tight-lace slowly and listen to your body. You can make a very visible reduction with no health problems at all!
    Basically, tightlacing is fine and doesn’t injure you if you know what you’re doing, and before you come bitching in the comments; make sure you actually know what you’re talking about :)
    - With love, a corset lover :)♥️
