    What really amazes me is there's one guitar, one bass and one set of drums. Think about that. Thousands of people blown away by practically nothing except three outstanding and legendary musicians. Three amazing people creating their own "wall of sound." Brilliant.

    It's 2023 and Clapton still ROCKS! Thank you T-Bone Walker. I love when Clapton sings and plays the Blues, I'm comparing him at a young age who is older videos and he just keeps getting better and better. He is the only musician that I know of that has played with more people than anyone else has. I would have loved to seen him play and sing this with T-Bone Walker. Unfortunately T-Bone died at a very young age.

    Ginger Baker's drumming is understated genius! The way he subtly handles the first verse then takes it up a notch is nothing short of drumming brilliance! Drummers, take note - you don't need to do a hundred fast fills to be good. Listen to the master!

      +FooCards88 Silly person, music isn't a competition. John Bonham was perfect for Led Zeppelin,

      Led Zep.

    Eric Clapton is actually quite the singer. Not flashy but that's the tradition of the original blues singers. He has a good range and a tone that's very welcoming and easy on the ears. I've never heard a bad note sung by him and that's more than I can say for Robert Plant. His singing is very soulful and a nice counterpoint to his guitar playing.

    • @alfalfa19
      @alfalfa19 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I agree. I always thought Jack was the vocal strength of Cream, but seeing youtube videos, I feel Eric was equal to him.

    • @theblackstoneproject9917
      @theblackstoneproject9917 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Jack has that semi-classical singer vibe (the control and vibrato) in his singing which I love. However, Eric Clapton's voice always seems just right for the song. Blues Power has a surprisingly powerful and passionate vocal from him, not to mention Layla. His upper register can be very gritty and can sound like a passionate cry when he wants it to. It can also be very warm and actually a bit like Andy Williams at times.

    • @RelaxingKorean
      @RelaxingKorean 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Blackstone Project I agree. He has such a soulful voice.

    • @JooJooShrimp
      @JooJooShrimp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      A big percentage of Cream listeners tend to have some bad feels for zeppelin but just mentioning Clapton and Plant in the same sentence concerning vocals is just unacceptable. BTW even Jack Bruce called Robert Plant 'one of the all-time, if not THE all-time, great rock singer' after bashing Zeppelin and admitting jealousy on his part.

My ears and mind have never be right since. Stopped listening to the Beatles after that night and have been on the blues train ever since.

    I love the 4-bar phrase from 5:20 to 5:42 in Clapton's solo. He repeats a one-note lick about (25) times, first on the beat, then building to a fierce cross rhythm. Clapton has always been the master of phrasing ...

He does his music. Yrs he has always been one of my heroes and now that his music has crept into the pain he has lived its so rich bountiful with tome depth in each chord and light touch on his leads worth THE perfection only time can preserve this is a great song for him.

    Yes indeed, Czech this out.....Ginger and Jack, not to leave EC out of it by any means, were the backbone of Cream. Saw Ginger Baker's show a couple of months ago at ACL Theater here in Austin. As ill as he was/is, he blew the roof off the building. Not a dry face in the crowd that night.

  • @oldgittarist

    5’21” to 5’41 is the dog’s bollocks! Clapton’s repeated single note wail is one of THOSE moments. He works so hard in the Power Trio format; he HAS to fill out the sound. With Jack and Ginger, you KNOW it’s going to be great. I’d argue it’s his greatest playing for years...
