    Compact SUV's are the new family sedans in America but choosing the best one for you is getting more challenging these days. In this video, we brought together 7 different entries and took them to an environment that no owner would probably go and even though you probably wouldn't, it's always nice to know which one of these is the most capable if you had to. Included in the comparison are the following:
    2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD
    2018 Kia Sportage SX AWD
    2018 Hyundai Kona SEL AWD
    2018 Toyota Rav4 Adventure AWD
    2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 4WD
    2018 Honda CR-V Touring AWD
    2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL Premium AWD

    I’m surprised that Subaru declined to offer their Forester for this comparison. It would’ve been one of the most capable off road.

    Lmao Hyundai basically screwed themselves in this comparison by using the Kona instead of the Tucson...

    • @billdeco08
      @billdeco08 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      The Kona's not even a compact SUV, it's a Crossover, which is different. I'd rather take the Tucson anyway.

      thecarelectronicguy I think the Santa Fe Sport would've been the best option

    Who in their right mind would pay $41,000 for a Jeep Cherokee???

    • @EricLS
      @EricLS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Whoever bought mine so I could get it for $17,000 less 3 years later, that's who lololl! Real life though, the rest of these are a joke compared in off road capability. Electronic rear locker! That's a $1500 upgrade for most Wrangler trims, and is only in the off-road versions of pickups. Full body armor completely covering the bottom, 4 low. It's not even close. So, the money doesn't just fly into the stratosphere.

    @Redline_Reviews Off topic but have you got your hands on the new MX5 for review yet? Or was it only for Canadian youtubers first? Really want your opinion on it because you actually had a previous model. Smart move on moving away from the ND1 though because it's probably going to take a hit in the resell value.

    The Rav 4 trail can also tow 3500lbs which is more then all but the Jeep. However, the Toyota won't need a new transmission and other major components after 4 years of use. The Jeep will.

  • @AikidoTubeSock
    @AikidoTubeSock 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed a lot of emphasis on the features of each vehicle; how they are designed, etc. A big consideration for me when buying any vehicle is reliability and longevity; how far/long can I drive it before it needs repair, how many miles can I put on it totally, etc.
    I realize these are new and maybe these stats are unavailable however, these vehicles are made with engines and those engines are made by manufacturers with a track record for other engines they have produced, etc. Same with the transmissions; it would be nice to know what company at least made them preferably the reliability/longevity of similar transmissions.
    It may not matter if you can afford to buy a new car every four or five years but I think it's safe to say that for most of us this isn't the case and we need a sturdy and reliable vehicle.

    It's sad the CR-V only has 1.5L turbo. I would be nice to have 2.0L turbo on regular gas for the CR-V at 252HP as an option. That leaves 2.0L turbo 272HP on premium for the RDX.

    Just because Jeep are nown for there off road capabilities doesn't mean the others can't do the same. We have 2011 Kia Sportage and what we done with it so we can get through the snow easier is we have the AWD model but we put the most tallest and narrow tire and with that it also does help with going through the mud. (We also turn off traction control because that traction control doesn't help you at all)

    In my 20's I had a Plymouth valiant with a 2 wheel drive slant 6 motor that I drove on back roads like this. What a joke that road was, I now drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee here in Colorado and have never been stuck yet driving in the mountains and on trails. It's not a Wrangler for rock crawling but Jeeps have the lower geared transfer case to get me out of places other vehicles can't. I know because I have needed to use it more than a few times with mud, snow or ice.

    Seriously you didn't take a Chevrolet Equinox or any GM brand or Ford brand! I had took a Chevrolet Equinox off road and the damn thing couldn't be stopped except for a few rocks that's great it was comfortable and felt confident! Just wondering what your opinion is! The ground clearance wasn't the greatest but they could easily be modified to get more clearance in the front

      7.9 inches of GC on my 2018 Equinox LT AWD is more than sufficient for mild to moderate off roading. With the low end torque that the 1.5 Turbo puts out, I'm pretty sure my Equinox would have eaten this trail for breakfast.

    I’m gonna disagree with you about the Tiguan looking like a van

    I still prefer my 2018 Kia Sportage. It scores 4.5 out of 5 for reliability where Honda's CRV only scores 3 out of 5 and the Sportage has more comfortable seats and is a very quiet ride thanks to lots of sound proofing starting in the 2017 model. The Mazda just looks weird in my opinion, though I like the specs.

    As an owner, I’m biased, but the Forester is definitely my pick - 2017 2.5L.
