A long afternoon at Princeton Jct. NJ. 150 mph Acela Express trains and great horn shows. 6/16/22

  • Exhilarating experience seeing the Acelas rocketing thru on this recently raised to 150mph track territory. The Regional trains impressed as well with their 125mph speeds. NJT was not prioritized but some interesting examples are seen and heard as well.

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Talk about horn shows,,,,,I'm 73,,,,,,,I worked on Skillman ave. in 1981 ; fixing Taxi cabs.......Trains coming into sunnyside yard would blast those horns as they came out the east river tube......Man it was loud and cool......That got my attention.........I had to see what these monsters looked like.......My education began.......The E60's ,,,the AEM-7's......The gg-1's looked mean......but they had a horn that sounded like a tug boat.......

    Fab film, really enjoyed having your commentary too, gives a bit more insight as to what’s happening to the unfamiliar eye. Think perhaps one day I need to head to the states for a bit of “railfanning” or TrainSpotting as we call it in the UK.

    Boy, this is great! Grew up in North Jersey and every Fri. night in the 70's we'd trek down to Pct. Junction and watch GG-1's slam through along with E-44's on loads of freight trains with occasional diesels. Around ~1:00 AM the last remaining RPO (mail) train left running in the U.S. would head south, always with two G's and then we'd head home. Rail therapy at its finest! Thank you for jogging the memories and I loved your presentation of train info-most times I hate narration so that says a lot. And never lose your NY accent! Makes me homesick... now I gotta go watch all 6 Sopranos seasons over, LOL! Subscribed.

    Loving the commentary. Most railfan videos just show the trains but the numbers and destinations are a nice touch.
    I saw on FB that on 7/30 the Silver Star is expected to have a private car in tow from NY-WAS. Would be a great catch.

    My oh my, but you have the knack for this! My early youth NYC subway rides and 90s AMTRAK "Fast Mail" New London to NYC are coming back to me. Love the trains and your delivery... you are sort of the "Lou Garagiola (of baseball announcer fame)" of trains... your narration brings these videos to a special level that could otherwise be much less interesting. THANKS so much for your work and hope to learn someday what you did for a living and what makes the trains come alive for you! Watching your Caltrain videos AND THEN trying the trains out in train simulator made them come to life for me! BTW, are there no more AMTRAK FAST MAILS? The once in a great while rides in 'business class' (add newspaper, coffee, and a bit of quiet) were wonderful. I hope you can keep up the great journaling of the vast East Coast railing!!!

      @ArturoRailProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uhhh no. You cant put an M bell on a on a K5 manifold. With M horns you can only install through the manifold. With K horns they are bolted on.
      9649 uses bells 1 2 3A 4 5 which can either be called a hybrid or a K5LAM. K5LAM is just a technical term.

    american locomotives little bit smaller than Indians Locomotives maybe coz of cars length i think.. indian Locomotives pull 16 to 23 cars at same time but USA locomotives only pull 8 to 10 cars only

    We used to think the GG1's at 80 mph were crazy fast. Then they let them run 100mph to pull the metroliners when they were unable to run in the snow. They were half a million pounds so the under carriages would slam horribly going through interlockings. Very scary.

    150 mph? That's it? Cant waite to go to Japan next year to experience real highspeed bullet train technology which the so called mighty United States of America should of had decades ago. Sorry but compared to the trains of the far more advanced countries of the far east and Europe, 150 mph is a craw. They are working on Maglev super train technology. Trains that can reach speeds of up to 375 mph.

    With the cab car first trains, I am assuming the locomotive in the back is pushing or do the cab cars have some kind of power (doesnt look like it since I see the electric connection is only on the locomotive). Doesn't it make it harder to stop and getting the timing right?
