Thanks for the info. I have fitted the 1k5 to the timing , and the difference is very noticeable . From standstill, the vehicle leaps forward rather than just a good take-off, I now have to 'speedo-watch' all the time as the pedal is so much more sensitive. no problems at all. The only thing is that the auto is more aggressive in its gear changes as presumably the engine gets-up-and-goes so much more enthusiastically. . I installed a 1200ohm to try, which reduced the enthusiasm slightly and was a bit less brisk on the gear changes.

Hey Dingel-Diy was curious if youd know if i can place the newer version injection pump in an older kzn130 just with changing the plugs abit or is this a much more complicated than modifying the wires to fit
I honestly have no idea. To me it doesn't seem worth it. I think the pumps are mostly the same and they're only really different because a fly by wire throttle was introduced in to later model cars
Im not sure. I think if you're messing with electrical then you may need to mess with the ECU. It is possible to use other pumps if they're entirely mechanical. I have 0 experience with modifying or upgrading injection pumps tough.
@@dingeldiy haha yea me either, but have seen lately that the spill control valve solenoid has a screen under it. I've only just bought a 04 4wd kzn165 so getting into hard now.
Good video but what a rough job. It could give you problems in the future, tape won't hold it there forever or keep water out of it forever. When I did it, I I dug out the old resistor out of the epoxy and soldered the new resistor in and epoxyed it into place
I have read neutral curing silicone would be better as I would agree tape wont last that long and it still is easier to remove if for whatever reason you need to return it to stock.
Hi My hilux comes with the modern resistor and but I fit the pump with older resistor and show code 1670. May you assist? Is it possible to use older pump with two resistor in hilux where it comes with pump with only one resistor (modern version)
No it's not possible. The different pumps use different throttle pedals and ECUs. If you have the modern pump spend your money on a throttle controller or a potentiometer
do both. but generally speaking increasing fuel in a diesel is the simplest way to get more power. boost will help but more boost is actually used to bring th egt's back down after adding fuel.
i use ebay, 4wd supacentre. Things are usually cheap but I do life on a budget hence all of the fixing and DIY. Facebook marketplace and facebook specific forums are great too!
Depending on which plug you change the resistor for it will either effect timing or fueling. Each car is different and results will vary. The resistor I demonstrated is generally the one that works for most people.
The timing correction is safe, the fuel pressure should be left alone unless you have supporting mods which I've talked about in a different video. Thanks for watching!
What does it actually do? does it give you a bit more response does it alter the idling at all sometimes altering the diesel pump timing can make them run a bit rougher
Any thoughts for the stock resistors? Swapped out my pump because the old one started to have long start when hot. Old pump had 315 ohm pressure resistor and new one had 0.48k ohm resistor. I think the new pump came from hilux or 4 runner with IC and i have non IC prado, do i melt my engine with that higher ohm resistor? Did the timing mod tho
What supporting modes do you recommend for boosting fuel pressure? I have a 94 4runner in the USA and swapping the 3.0 to a 1KZ and trying to learn as much as possible before installing engine.
what supporting mods ? thnks
