Thank you Richard! I purchased one of these unknowingly, and couldn't understand why it was slowly dying. It was mislabeled as another plant, and not getting the care it wants. Off to save my Birkin :)
I bought mine at IKEA a few days ago for ten euros, and it's twice the size of the one in the video. Talk about a bargain! I also got a Scindapsus Njoy. I'm so happy with my purchase!
I just got one of these today and I've just repotted it in potting mix and in perlite I mix mine together and gave it some seaweed plant tonic to help with shock. So thank you for your how to care video.
As I got my philodendron birkin, I divided it into three plants because I thought there were too many individual plants planted in the same pot... Now I realise it's just its growth pattern to grow bushy...So I have really tiny birkins and I think they are cute. The biggest one has pin stripes but others don't. The early division could have been really bad for the plant but luckily they all survived. The funny thing is that the plant came in a mini pot from the nursery. It was the size of a shot glass, and still I decided to divide it😳
That is exactly what happened to me! Tiny cup bought from Hofer (Aldi) and four little ones couped together in a small amount of potting soil.. seemed barely able to breathe in there.. and I did the same thing, divided them in pairs into 'decent-sized' pots with large drainage holes and more room for roots to spread.. thinking is not knowing, I guess 🤷♀️😅🙈 So now mine, too, look as if they're about to remain minuature.. well, so long as they're healthy and keep developing new leaves.. ❤

My Birkin is always wobbly. If I pick it up, it bobs from one side to another. I have replanted it and it was fine for about a month and it is back to usual. Anyone have similar problem?
That’s strange. It would normally send out aerial roots to stabilise in the soil. Might be worth resetting by cutting off the loose stem and propagating?
Mine has been like this since the day I brought her home. I then repotted due to it being in the wrong soil mixture from the nursery and then placed it backwards towards bright indirect light, fertilized and left it for about two months and Ariel’s took root and are finally starting to ground her. 🙏🏼😄 but I dealt with the wobbly for ab 6mo prior and it drove me nuts so I’m kinda glad I’m not the only one.
I bought a wobbly one today. I got it for half the price. It wasn't placed deeply in the pot. The roots were showing on the TOP of the soil. I just added fresh soil to cover those exposed roots. I didn't fiddle with it other than that. I will watch it over the next week or so. Thanks.
Hi, I'm not sure if you've answered this question before, but how do you get the plant to grow more bushy instead of tall and skinny? I've seen that cutting the stems seems to encourage branching? If so where is the best location to cut it?
