      @@ChrisRishworth Yeah, I'm fortunate that Nevada has generally looked the other way on outdoor activities outside the city during all this. Been interesting seeing your evolution from mountain bike with trailer to fat bike with bags. I can't wait to get a fat bike. Looks like an absolute riot.

    Hi Chris
    The beautiful Outback, I loved it.
    6 or 7 years ago I went from Toowoomba to Broken Hills it was hard and got in September but an epic ride and the sky!!!
    I will come back soon, now traveling with my donkey through spain and France so far.
    But one of most intense feelings I had on this ride. I was to crazy and didn t use a net around my face, next time i will be not so proud.
    Keep going
    Cheers
    Peter

    Beautiful ride. How much water did you carry to make it from one water source to another? It seems that water is hard to find. Congratulations !

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Yes, water is the biggest concern out there. I was carrying 20 liters in the Extra Wheel trailer. And the water bottles on the bike. Which could last up to 4 days. I did have a water filter which failed to work when I really need it to. So I had to cycle 80 km on 1 liter of water. There was the occasional car or truck going past which I could have waved down If I was really desperate. Cheers Chris.

    Inspiring. You always seem to be hammering along. What's your ave speed,still wind? And when you were doing 40km/hr I assume a stiff tailwind? What's an average day distance, and a good dayndistanc? Finally, have you thought of touring Holland - endless bike paths. Andrew

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrew Bell Thanks Andrew. My average speed on bitumen is about 20 km's hour. Distance about 130 km's. Up to 200 km's. On the gravel roads the distance about 80 km's and average speed 14 kms hour. Cheers Chris.

    Another great video! There's no possibility of shade in those first few minutes of the video. Not a tree or bush for kilometres around!
    How are your Solar Panels holding up? Do they do a good job? I was thinking some of the smaller ones you can get may be good for bushwalking if you strap it onto the top of a backpack. Just for things like charging the emergency mobile phone.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      bushwalker53 Thanks. The six watt solar panel would be fine for that task. They are working well when the sun shines. Haven't had the power out of them to render a video yet. They do charge all batteries, phone and surface pro 3. Just a bit hard to video render so far. I wouldn't want to be there in summer on a bicycle. So much wildlife compared to centre of Australia. Cheers Chris.

    Hi Chris, loving your vids. I'm thinking of bike touring when I'm next in Australia and wondered what navigation you use? I'm wondering also if you've ever pulled off to camp then started going back the way you came by mistake, I think I'd do that 😂

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi the navigation I use is the App memory map on my smartphone. Then I purchased the 4wd maps for Australia in the app for my computer and phone. It's ok you can download the app for free and get the 250,0000 scale for free. It's ok for general but not the best map for remote sections. There may be better I haven't looked for some time. Not really easy to go the wrong way. When you ride a road you remember a lot more than in a car. Cheers Chris.

    There's something awesome about the outback. Don't know if it's the big sky or the red ground with so little on it, but it's great to see on your video. Geez, you were doing well going 40 with the loaded bike - must have had a good tailwind! $52 should get you a pretty good haul of fruit and veg in most places, remind me not to shop there!

    Very good videos you have got a question for you though what year make and model is your bicycle specifically what are you run for panniers what's which one of whatever make and how come people choose the pull that single wheel on in place of a trailer that that that will you carry in place of a trailer what's the benefit of carrying that as opposed to a trailer

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BE MINDFUL of consurvation the bike koga signature very expensive belt drive internal gears. Painners red ones are polish cossco ? Very good. Got them with the Extrawheel trailer. One wheel less drag and easy to get out the way of cars etc. Only use it to carry 20 litres of water. If not carrying that much water I don't use it.

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Thomas Miller Thanks Tom. 29 in tyres could be good for better rolling efficiency. The town where this video started from is Tibooburra (North West NSW) I would only recommend doing this around the winter months. The road starts as (The Silver City hwy changes to Noccundra Warri Warri gate RD and so on) Not much water for about 300 km's between towns. Cheers Chris.

  • @ianbing
    @ianbing 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Chris, amazing at the least, I have a few questions if you don't mind, Speed hubs/Dyno hub what do you think, also the rear trailer do you think it is worth while, cheers

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. OK if you intend to do lots of bicycle touring and can afford the speed hub it's excellent. Reason almost not maintenance or adjusting just works. The Dynamo is good for powering the light. But it's not supposed to be submerged under water. The dynamo maybe just cheaper to use battery lights ?. The Extrawheel trailer is great if you really need a trailer. If you can fit all your gear on your bike it works much easier this way. I really only use the the extrawheel to carry 20 L of water. Hope that helps somewhat. Cheers Chris.

    • @ianbing
      @ianbing 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Rishworth Thanks very much, the Dyno hub was more intended for UBS charge, do they not have a sealed/waterproof product or is it just recommended not to submerge them, cheers Paul

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The charging device is waterproof (Ewerk) it's the hub that say's it should not be submerged. Having said that mine was submerged on many occasions and still works fine. For USB charging the hub would be fine.

    Are those one wheel expensive like how much u.s. dollars I never see him over here we use a bob trailer that's a one wheel trailer as well are you familiar with it the Bob trailer

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are a similar price to the bob trailer. It rolls better because of the bigger wheel. And it's also a spare if a disaster happens. Google Extrawheel you will find it.

      man can you plz explain to me how your tires tolerate this kind of ground ???!!!
      what's kind of tires and the brand you use ?
      do you use a protection of inner tube ?
      what's your tips for this ?

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The roads out there are rough in the sense dirt and rocks. (Find I get more punctures in the city.) German Tyres Schwalbe Marathon plus The tyres are good they have a blue layer which stops objects getting through. I use normal tubes. With these tyres I've only got about 4 punctures in 15,000 kms. A link to the tyres. www.chainreactioncycles.com/au/en/schwalbe-marathon-plus-road-tyre-smart-guard/rp-prod24544

      @ChrisRishworth  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. It wasn't really that hard out there, just looks remote & yes it is in some ways. Very little traffic lots of wildlife & scenery that slowly changes as you go. I road this in winter when the temperatures are pleasant.

    Obviously Chris knows what he’s doing, and obviously I don’t, but isn’t the steering easier on sand with less weight on the front wheel? Got a lazy third wheel sitting back there, freeloading, carrying nothing!

    • @ChrisRishworth
      @ChrisRishworth  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Albert. The third whell on the back had 20 litres of water in it. The bike was doing fine loaded like this. The front wheel had weight in it but not bogging down.
