      Kalvins Garage you can take those butterfly gates out and use jb radiator weld to seal the holes and it will be fine , my friend and i did a ka24 1 cam and it ran fine and the rad weld held up

      Hey Kalvins , since you're pulling the head off anyway , try to find some single cam ka piston (flat top instead of dished) and an other stock exhaust camshaft from an s13 ka24de, the piston will raise your Cr and you put the cam in place of the intake one by drilling a new pin hole and timing it 3.5 teeth off counter clockwise, you can get that under 100 $ and they wake the ka up quite a bit, I had an obx 4-1 header and a 2.5'' exhaust and the thing was shredding 235/45r17 in second gear quite easilly, search google there's some write up on that with picture and all.

      You have a gorgeous car there my friend, you might wanna put a car cover on it at list when you’re painting stuff,
      Awesome videos 👍

    You can swap an S14 intake manifold on an S13. The S14 manifolds don't have the butterfly valves. The butterfly valves help improve low-end torque, however. To compensate for this, S14 use smaller cams. If you swap in an S14 intake manifold, top-end power may increase, but low-end torque may decrease. If it's a daily driver, I would keep the butterfly valves.

    Tip if you wanna prime the oil filter on the e36 before putting it back in is to go ahead and put the drain plug back in and then fill the filter housing 50-70% of the way then slowly put the oil filter in and it’ll soak it right up. 240 and E36 lookin good as always. Props Kalvin👍

    hey man, as a mechanic my self I know dealing with clients might be difficult due to them not understanding a car´s mechanics or the difficulty of our labor... but please try to talk some sene into your friend... not doing chains and a head job on an engine you dont know ANYTHING about, when the engine is already on an engine stand is so stupid :( I knoe you agree with me.. I mean if the engine was in the car and maybe you could compression test it its a different story, but with the way it is right now?... a timing kit and a head job (checking what needs to be replaced and doing it) will be WAY CHEAPER in the long term.... I hope you can figure this one out without creating a proble with your friend... or having that car sit there for months (something the clients think should not be charged for)

      Luis González this motor isn’t gonna be in the car very long so I’m not dumping money into it. Plus I’m already way over budget on this build 👌🏻

    You can delete the flaps in the intake manifold. (Variable tumble control) VTC. Drill the screws on the flaps and pull the rod out. Plug the hole in the end by tapping it and putting a bolt in it with locktite.

    i never knew the oil filter was up top in the engine supposed to most cars that have it more accessible by getting under the car, thats really useful

    @Luka49924 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keep the butterfly valves. Just make sure the screws have loctite on them. They help with low end torque.

    Offbeat garage did a video on the emissions stuff of the intake manifold. You can remove those butterfly valves on the inside. Or you can use an s14 intake manifold since they were removed already at that point. Try to go more in depth on the next video regarding the vacuum ports on the intake manifold. I'm trying to build a ka-t myself but I'm always open to learning more on the motor. Best of luck and keep up the good work.

  • @707pimp1

    This butterfly doors on the intake are removable. They are for deceleration. A lot of drifter remove them because of the deceleration factor. But it's great for auto cross

    I’m pretty sure you can swap a obd2 motor into a emissions car Ik a lot of people run ls in California because they pass emissions

  • @AUTARKYDESIGNS

    Loved it. Just my opinion; block should be silver to, helps detect the infamous fluids leak notorious with KAs.

  • @edwinguy8877
    @edwinguy8877 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeas you can remove those valves from the intake, watch offbeats garage egr delete video. Also i have a timing chain kit that im never gonna put on my ka and an extra starter. I can do both for 50 guy im pretty sure the chain kit was a lil over a 100. Just trying to help the channel!!

    Have you thought about getting some quick jacks for the shop? It will definitely be helpful when jacking up cars and you can get them pretty high off the ground. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos

  • @Mugmagazine
    @Mugmagazine 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do some shop light management mods (divide them up onto multiple switches) or maybe find a way to switch some lights over to LED's. Not sure what else might help... if you were closer to Indiana i'd of defiantly payed you to help me do a rear main seal on my TT z32, maybe make some stickers and sell those to pay for some shop fees?

  • @zxKrookedxz

    im pretty sure i saw someone take those flaps out of their intake manifold for the SR20 before.

  • @brklyn_whiteboy2937
    @brklyn_whiteboy2937 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    either find someone to buy stickers off of or just go NA on a boosted motor just for emissions in NY, you can buy a sticker for like 60 bucks

  • @7alexze
    @7alexze 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure about NY but CA and their similar smog laws allow for swaps as long as it's a same year or newer motor that retains the same class of vehicle. I.e. Road legal gas motor in an older road legal gas car but no swapping a diesel into a gas car

  • @ClutchKickerNation
    @ClutchKickerNation 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Get s14 upper intake it doesn't have the butterflys. That's my setup on my engine. S13 lower s14 upper s13 tb.

  • @justindrumm8
    @justindrumm8 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im from binghamton, ny. Last i knew you can swap motors but it can not be from a car older then yours. Is what they say, most of the time they dont care as long as its not throwing a c.e.l during inspection.....ive seen many hondas running around with older motors in ny

    Post the pic of the motor on insta and have everyone tag cx racing Jimmy Oakes got his buddy a free turbo for his s13 build everybody would just need to tag cxracing in the pic and say hook this man up with a turbo kit!

    • @Mugmagazine

      not gonna lie, that would be lit but who knows if his buddy would want to pay more to have a turbo installed? lol but at least his oil pan's already got a hole in it, practically already boost ready!!!
