Nutz used to play regularly at Clarence's night club in Halifax, I had some great nights in the 1970's watching them perform. Nutz were one of the best seventies bands that the UK ever produced, they deserved far more credit than they ever got.
To me it's very much a mystery why bands like Nutz, Dirty Tricks, Quartz, Paris, Legs Diamond, Angel, Starz, Moxy, Riot, American Tears, The Babys, A Foot In Cold Water, Head East, Black Sheep, weren't much bigger than they were! Nutz for me is one of the best things the UK produced in the 70s
Saw Nutz at the Marquee in Wardour St London a couple of times. Once with Paul Dianno of Iron Maiden. And ( soon to be) Maiden roadie, Steve "Loopy" Newhouse. Long time ago now, but great day's 😁👍
wow what memories this brings back..such an underated band..saw these so many times locally in Liverpool as headliners and support to the likes of budgie and ufo..magic times
Saw them live in Peterborough , late 70s ,the pics of that gig ended up on the cover of Live Cutz , me and my brother can be seen in the crowd on the photo of Mick Davenport! .what a great live band, Mick Davenport was a phenomenal guitar slinger, doing things way before his time ,
Growing up in Liverpool I saw Nutz many times ,lived almost in the moonstone, saw Nutz also do a gig on the steps of St Georges Hall ,any one out there got the old albums on CD,Would willingly buy a copy
I know this is 6 years later , but I checked and the albums are available on cd again , with extra b sides and stuff ! I've got versions of the cd's , but not with the b sides.
I 'v seen them in the Cumberland Liverpool didn't no much about them but new right away the singer was great they were doing covers and Lloyds' hair was short.... I started singing in a band and we quite after a year I got information that a band was looking for a lead singer so I got in touch and arranged to see them at a gig the band was called Pictures so the penny never dropped.........when I got there I looked on the stage I recognized Lou and his bottle of Newcastle brown to which he always drank on stage..... I turned to the girl I was with and said fuck that... No way am I going to try and step In Dave Lloyds' boots The girl said were here now so I went up and introduced my self they were fine arranged an audition............ I sung feel like making love Bad Co and a couple of others and to my surprise they wanted me on board......... went to Lou's house in wavertree and got the set off him When I got home and listened to the set I was a bit saddened to see they had mellowed down for the public more gig's more money I tired to get In to the stuff but If you don't like what your doing then whats the point .........Took the set back to Lou and thanked him for the offer but I am not Into the stuff............. Well in the day I audition for Genesis (And they got In tutch with me WoW) got a very good response but they took on the singer from a band called stiltskin I've been in pub bands ever since a THUNDER tribute and still rocking around Merseyside must be getting to the end of my singing days now...............Thought this might be of interest maybe not.........
jack thelad remember the cumberland days. called themselves Sliced Bread then. Nutz/Rage drummer was killed (Milo??) in a car crash or something so they became a covers band. Bass player (paul) joined bootleg beatles and he often sang with sliced bread when Dave wasn't about. It took me ages to realise it was what was left of Rage (previously Nutz) who I had seen in 83/84 support Marillion at teh Royal Court. shit I feel old but Great memories.
random fact. Dave Lloyd singing sang the iconic "girl in a boat" flake advert....only the crumbliest falkiest chocolate.... he used to ad lib it for a laugh years later when the nd had reduced down to a covers band (Sliced Bread) playing the Cumberland in Liverpool having been Rage for a while (supported Marillion at Royal court in Liverpool). great memories.
Saw NUTZ many times at their stomping ground of the MOONSTONE PUB Liverpool man times ,plus they were the support band for most major acts that came to Liverpool.I still listen to their albums and wonder why they never made it BIG
Just read the feature on NUTZ on the Classic Rock website (cult heroes section) dated 2010. The feature mentioned a possible reforming of the band (obviously missing John, RIP). Did anything develop. I was a great fan of the band during the 70s and would love to see them again.
First saw this band when they supported Quo in the late 70's, and then later again in club in Blackpool. A tight little band that deserved more acclaim than they received. Seem to remember them doing The Magic Roundabout theme tune.
We used to go over the river to watch them at the Stadium. They were a great live band. We went backstage there and I broke his first string on his white strat ( He said he'd bought it second hand and stripped it down and repainted it. This brought back great memory's for me. They went on tour with Queen and later I heard teard their drummer was killed in a car accident? If you listen to the first Queen album White man sounds like an I'm doin fine ripoff?
watched this at the time and bought Nutz Too the next day, still have the vinal but so good to see this again, shame they never made it bigger. Roddy, Scotland.
Crikey! What would we do without TH-cam! They really do have it all. I am astonished to see this here. I saw this band at the Marquee Club in Wardour St well over 30 years ago. They were GREAT. I have Hard Nutz ( at least I think thats what its called lol ) and Nutz Too. I heard they changed their name to ''Rage''??? Now to see if TH-cam have Woody Woodmansey's U Boat, another great old band from the 70s.
The keyboard player from Night wing joined our band (Experimental Gardens) for while in the 80's. Nuts where a brilliant band live! And very down to earth too. The music business is not a fair game as anyone that's actually been in it will tell you!
Mick Devenport (lead guitar) owns a garage I think and plays in the Space Cadets. Keith Mulholland (bass) plays in a duo called Red Rock. John Mylett (drums) is sadly no longer with us.
I saw these live: 75/76 era. They were supported by a forgotten band called Blitz - who had a very creative and excellent guitarist. Nutz were good as I recall, but a 'too good' opening band could be a distracting thing. Do bands still have support acts? I haven't been to a live gig for yonks. I only went to see them on the strength of a short NME review that described the lead guitarist as a 'speedo maniac'. Funny what sticks in the mind...
Great stuff...way ahead of its time, pre dates Bon Jovi by ten years. and you think the director here working on a rock show, should be able to tell who is playing lead guitar.
@revup67 Load a plugin called "Fast Video Download" into Mozilla Firefox browser - and then you can download the vid. Doing it now as I type! Great band, wish they had made it....
Saw Nutz at the Marquee club Wardour St back in the 70. Very enjoyable! I think they changed their name to ''Rage'' at one point. Bought a Rage CD music was not as good.
i am sure they backed up black sabbath at the liverpool empire in 76/77? bit pissed up at the time, but they where great. or was that steve hillage. anyway loved the album cover(wot a bot). .
A brilliant band, saw them many times around Liverpool, Moonstone etc. Got very pissed with them on a few occasions, I think the late great Milo was a bad influence.

thank you
I'm with Dave in cyprus on holiday lost his hair know lol still got the voice
I saw them a few times back in the day at London's Marquee Club. The guitar player reminded me of Blackmore. It's nice to hear rock with such melody.
Sliced Bread were the best pub band i ever saw. Dave, of course, was the voice of the old Flake ad.
God bless John Mylett
Respect to all of you.
Saw Nutz top the bill at the Stadium (with Snafu)) - absolutely brilliant band. Proud to be a Scouser!
God bless ya Keith.
Dave C.
Livepudlian lad
Saw Nutz at Wigan Casino rock night in 76. The guitarist completely blew me away.
I was there to great band
Me too.
Seen Nutz support Rory Gallagher at the Macroom Mountain Dew Festival in 1977 , they were excellent on the day ..
Did they support him on tour? I don't remember them, but a friend does , not sure if it was Rory or Quo they supported. They ain't bad, are they?
Saw Nutz at the Marquee in Wardour St London a couple of times. Once with Paul Dianno of Iron Maiden. And ( soon to be) Maiden roadie, Steve "Loopy" Newhouse. Long time ago now, but great day's 😁👍
Saw them support Sabbath in 1977.
Wow, great vid find! I used to jam with this lot back in The Cumberland. Great fellas and Dave's still got a hell of a voice
RIP Milo & Alison
Add 'em to the list.
Of great bands no one's ever heard of.
SelectCircle I’ve got all their albums
@@hugohugo2832 Me too. Hard Nutz is my favorite. Especially wallbanger.
@@ssRocker-nn3tp Same here. Strangely when they changed their name to "Rage" they weren't as good.
wow what memories this brings back..such an underated band..saw these so many times locally in Liverpool as headliners and support to the likes of budgie and ufo..magic times

My bro. did an EPC for him a few months ago - Rock in' the Peter Gabriel look now...
Great song. First time I have heard it.
I forgot what a fantastic band Nutz were live. Brings back some brilliant memories of my youth.
Love this band! Classic music camera work, blazing lead guitar show a close up of the drummers face.
listen to that solid Buzz Roll @ 1:16 - absolutely stellar drumming - RIP John Mylett - what a loss
Brilliant - great to be reminded of an era when bands could actually play their instruments -
not like now
Love this track mick davenport makes that guitar sing...brill.

on the photo of Mick Davenport! .what a great live band, Mick Davenport was a phenomenal guitar slinger, doing things way before his time ,
I remember seeing the band supporting Status Quo in 1977 at Granby Halls. Damn good rock band at the time.

HOLY MOSES - didn't know any videos of this band existed. How in the world can I obtain this? made my day..fan since 1974.

SUPERB MEMORIES...
@pauluky19 Hey, I can remember when he was a kid and used to play the
violin. He was pretty good back then too !
if you search on here for "crossroads dock and roll" yes "dock" you will see mike and Keith from nutz (guit and bass) doing crossroads recently

70's Rock!
Saw this band in Glasgows Apollo supporting Status Quo, they were good enough for a support ban,,
All the crap they put out as "modern music" and a gem of a band like this is quickly forgotten!!!
I saw nutz support motorhead at lyceum strand in 1979 a great gig john golden

A brilliant band, saw them many times around Liverpool, Moonstone etc. Got very pissed with them on a few occasions, I think the late great Milo was a bad influence.
Great band. I think Strife were from the same area- both superb, neither had the success they richly merited.
I KNOW that this is Nutz .... And I love them .... always have .... but doesn't this tune sound a LOT like Uriah Heep???
Can actually play guitar...
