Like there are parts where he introduces a character and he's like "Of course, it's this character" and I'm like "what do you mean OF COURSE IT'S THIS CHARACTER?! I've never heard of this character in my life". I came to this video for a complete beginner's guide to LoL But this feels more like an abridged recap of all the current lore uptil now for fans who might've forgoten it. If I was a total noob, I would wonder what all of this had to do with Piltover and Zaun, with Vi & Jinx & Jayce & Caitlyn and al lthe rest of the show...because, would they not be the main characters?
At that point their understanding of how to make physical bodies that could interact with reality was pretty limited, and so they were basically faulty prototypes that didn't quite work the way they were intended. That's what I'm guessing.
I mean at the beginning of the video Necrit mentioned that they were bigger than any rift open in Runeterra at that time so yeah, maybe what Lissandra had frozen were just their avatars or something similar.

This is my main take away/what I learned. The Elder Gods/Eldritch Gods/Eldrazzi/Old Gods/Watchers saw a light turn on in their bedroom and now they are fumbling with the light in order to turn the damn thing off and go back to bed. This is literally a story and war about turning off the mother fucking light. Never thought that the struggle to turn off the light switch in your bedroom could be so dramatized and exaggerated.
Yes and the video only touches the peak. I recommend u check the universe site to learn more about the lore. There is even a whole interactive map and comics.
about Aurelion Sol - this is just wrong. They never even asked him for help, never tried to gain his understanding. They simply deceived him. This is a really lame way to do things. I'm pretty sure he would at least consider helping them, if they tried to make him understand.
I think it would be pretty difficult for them to get Ausol on their side, simply because he doesn't care. If Runeterra dies to the Watchers, it doesn't affect him. He can either create another Runeterra or just run away. He'd probably just be annoyed. Even though he's technically enslaved, Ausol is still reaaaaally pissed off about it. If he wanted to shut down the rift in Icathia, he certainly could. He just doesn't to tacitly throw up the middle finger at Targon. So, yeah. They could've played it better, especially considering that one of Swain's soul fragment lore bombs hints that Ausol has siblings.
I've been playing League for almost a year now and I immediately loved the lore. I've read so much and watched so many lore videos and I was still surprised a couple times while watching the video. Great work Necrit :D
I've avoided LoL like I've avoided meth, knowing it would be amazing and possibly wreck my life, but Arcane was such a beautiful taste of lore, glad this video was made to show how vast this story is.
I'm pretty much of the same mindset. Follow the plot, avoid the game like the plague. Skin prices aside, the community can be a bit... acidic to put it mildly. But damn if the story isn't awesome.
The wachers are not bad just imagine sleeping and somebody turns the licht on in the middle of the night normally you would stand up and turn of the licht
These 20 minutes of League story were more interesting than what I've ever read about Overwatch lore. Compared to this, Overwatch has no story development, nothing really going on, except for making some character gay 2 years after release.
This video is beyond elaborated, is extremely well made. Thank you sir, I got stuck with the idea that LoL still had bad and inconsistent Lore wandering around, but I think I might read more Lore now... I really like the importance of Bard, he is one of my favorites. I wonder what Riot thinks about this video...
Never played LoL because I saw a bunch of friends almost flunk out back in school because of it. Now Arcane comes out and I can feel my life being sucked into a void...

The fact they announced a full fledged Runeterra mmo in the works, makes hearing about this world so much more exciting. Soon as that shit is out its goodbye Azeroth for me.
Assuming you can get Demacians to work with Noxians, and Piltoverians with Zaunians. I mean, a conflicted world is a very interesting one, but it also makes reconciliation difficult.
this is so dope. Been playing league since I was a pre-teen and always believed it would make an insane cinematic experience. This video makes it feel like if Game of Thrones was in the Marvel universe, and im not mad. haha man I hope I get to see a League movie or league episodes in my lifetime.
10:55 Gnar is present during this event, "the missing link". In one of his stories, he attempts to fight the eye but then everything is frozen (by Lissandra).
Not only is the story extremely similar to that of Warcraft, Watchers (void lords), Celestials (titans), void creations (old gods) and so on, but you obviously recognised this since you used numerous WoW models and music. Love it ;)
So crazy that 3 years ago I watched this video and decided that I should give league a go, both a great thank you to Necrit for introducing to the wide expansive world of Runeterra but also a light hearted "screw you" for the league addiction that followed
I was hoping at some point in the story you were going to explain how the fields of justice were created and these ridiculously powerful characters started engaging in 5v5 skirmishes.
I'm here because i watched Arcane, Always wanted to know the lore of League but never got to it for some reason. Although i have been playing since 2010.
I've been playing league for around 6 years and just now I can finally properly understand the lore (that I didn't even know it was so interesting) thank you necrit, awesome video.
Riot took an obvious inspiration from one of Marvel's story. From the origins of Knull the Symbiote God and his creation. He existed long before the existence of the whole universe and being awoken from the creation of the universe he got upset by it because of the Celestials creating all the light. The story of the void was also then inspired by this because of Knull creating his own army of darkness to exterminate the light of the universe, and that army would be what we now know as the Symbiotes. would like some likes so many more would know of this origin
im not an expert on lore, legends, or religion, but based on how marvel, too, gets its ideas from other stories, im guessing this "story" has been around for a long time
"The days of bad lore are gone." I can't agree more. A lot of the old lore was straight dog shit. Not all of it of course, but much of it was just common swill or worse. Current League lore is great with comics coming out regularly.
I just wanted to know the world history of Arcane, and this gave me so much more. Sidenote: LoL history is all about gods trying to make plans and every fucking thing went sideways
Play Legends of Runeterra instead! It has a very wide variety of narratives, even more so than League of Legends. It has many characters that aren't in League of Legends, and it shows interactions of them.
Imagine Riot organizing an event that actually affected the lore, like players siding with either the Void or the Celestials in teams, and the team that won would establish how the lore continues

The Elder Gods/Eldritch Gods/Eldrazzi/Old Gods/Watchers saw a light turn on in their bedroom and now they are fumbling with the light in order to turn the damn thing off and go back to bed.
This is literally a story and war about turning off the mother fucking light. Never thought that the struggle to turn off the light switch in your bedroom could be so dramatized and exaggerated.
i know nothing about LoL but im here bc i loved arcane. gotta say the lore is so fascinating im obsessed
Yes and the video only touches the peak. I recommend u check the universe site to learn more about the lore. There is even a whole interactive map and comics.
When you know all of League lore but ur still bronze xD

about Aurelion Sol - this is just wrong.
They could pay him though...

I've been playing League for almost a year now and I immediately loved the lore. I've read so much and watched so many lore videos and I was still surprised a couple times while watching the video. Great work Necrit :D
Mortals. We bring destruction everywhere. Even fiction can't escape it

Great comment XD
Underrated comment XD
basically all susan mains out there
I mean in the long run it's the best strategy, since he becomes a literal raidboss and henceforth is unstoppable :) all bout that long run!
If u think about it its the best strategy u get strong without risk then u fight with 500 stacks at that point u just one/two shot everyone
Nasus superior “war tactics “ use Q when not on cooldown
I love all the world of warcraft models and music that's used in this. Really helps the vibe
LeBlanc: Im the one pulling all the strings
Bard: chime chime
I've avoided LoL like I've avoided meth, knowing it would be amazing and possibly wreck my life, but Arcane was such a beautiful taste of lore, glad this video was made to show how vast this story is.
I'm pretty much of the same mindset. Follow the plot, avoid the game like the plague. Skin prices aside, the community can be a bit... acidic to put it mildly. But damn if the story isn't awesome.
The wachers are not bad just imagine sleeping and somebody turns the licht on in the middle of the night
normally you would stand up and turn of the licht

These 20 minutes of League story were more interesting than what I've ever read about Overwatch lore. Compared to this, Overwatch has no story development, nothing really going on, except for making some character gay 2 years after release.
Overwatch is horrible in every aspect .. what a shitty game
Except fot the rule 34
So basically The Watchers just want to sleep?
Edit: Btw thanks for all the likes
Yeah
They are just so angry because they want to turn the damn light off.
who can blame them
So they ain't watching jack shit
I mean they could just leave runeterra alone and let the celestials close up the rifts that they're making
Can we give Necrit a big applause for this video?? I mean... Cmon getting together all the runeterra and league lore must be a mark!!
Not if you read a lot
celestial 1: “ok ok the humans have settled down and things may go smooth”
celestial 2: “they found the world ruins”
celestial 1: “they don’t even know how to use them and if they do I’m sure they will use them to fix the world”
Runettera : *explosion sounds*
The fact they announced a full fledged Runeterra mmo in the works, makes hearing about this world so much more exciting. Soon as that shit is out its goodbye Azeroth for me.
It would be jaw dropping amazing to have every league champion appear together to defend their reality like in Endgame
Assuming you can get Demacians to work with Noxians, and Piltoverians with Zaunians. I mean, a conflicted world is a very interesting one, but it also makes reconciliation difficult.
also, not all champions exist at the same time period
I've always been curious of the LoL story, I've seen Arcane, and this video is really good, this lore is really cool. ❤️
this is so dope. Been playing league since I was a pre-teen and always believed it would make an insane cinematic experience. This video makes it feel like if Game of Thrones was in the Marvel universe, and im not mad. haha man I hope I get to see a League movie or league episodes in my lifetime.
Have you watched arcane?
Oh god please no marvel CU is actually hella corny and bad.
Love it ;)
you will NEVER catch me playing LoL but the lore got me hooked fs after Arcane
So crazy that 3 years ago I watched this video and decided that I should give league a go, both a great thank you to Necrit for introducing to the wide expansive world of Runeterra but also a light hearted "screw you" for the league addiction that followed
10:41 How could Lissandra know their horrible forms if she’s blind lmao...
i thought the exact same , and then I imagined lissandra touching the 40 meters tall watchers when they first met to get their shapes.
she heard their ugliness
You can feel something is very huge even if ure blind

"Really, now?"
To be fair, Sona is one of the oldest lore pieces. They need to either update it like the others or give her a more in depth description.
Michael Soria i know but we need to mention her, lest they forget
Read it now.

an animated serie about every region wouldn't be a bad idea
Riot took an obvious inspiration from one of Marvel's story. From the origins of Knull the Symbiote God and his creation. He existed long before the existence of the whole universe and being awoken from the creation of the universe he got upset by it because of the Celestials creating all the light.
The story of the void was also then inspired by this because of Knull creating his own army of darkness to exterminate the light of the universe, and that army would be what we now know as the Symbiotes.
would like some likes so many more would know of this origin
im not an expert on lore, legends, or religion, but based on how marvel, too, gets its ideas from other stories, im guessing this "story" has been around for a long time
Hahah "knull"
Thats Mass Effect Music at the start of the story will always give me goosebumps and flashbacks, thx for that man 10/10.
"The days of bad lore are gone." I can't agree more. A lot of the old lore was straight dog shit. Not all of it of course, but much of it was just common swill or worse. Current League lore is great with comics coming out regularly.
15:40 Now i understand Why Zoe can remove anyone XD

anyone noticed that he’s using the ice crown citadel music track in the background? 😂😂
He also used Cthuns eye and a void Walker. Pretty sure avarosa and the other sister were vrykul skeletons
Can someone track all soundtracks he is using? :D Would be appreciated :3
I just wanted to know the world history of Arcane, and this gave me so much more.
Sidenote: LoL history is all about gods trying to make plans and every fucking thing went sideways
Never played LoL, but after watching arcane I’m seriously considering. The stories and worldbuilding are incredible!
Play Legends of Runeterra instead! It has a very wide variety of narratives, even more so than League of Legends. It has many characters that aren't in League of Legends, and it shows interactions of them.
Lore has nothing to do with the game itself
Tbh I just went off my favorite champions then branched off from their stories to regions etc
Imagine Riot organizing an event that actually affected the lore, like players siding with either the Void or the Celestials in teams, and the team that won would establish how the lore continues
Ok this is the greatest thing
Like the Ionia - Noxus war? That would be great.
This man is the voice actor for viktor
For me, this is the best fucking content you've made that I've ever fucking watched.
Recently became a huge fan of league of legends thanks to arcane, i play it as well. The lore is very interesting, and I’m gonna keep looking into this. Video was very useful
