What was your favorite read in April? 💙
One I really enjoyed was Nosy Neighbors. What a hoot. Loved Dorothy Darling.
@@susanfryman5156 I LOVED Dorothy Darling too. What a character.
I really liked Syrup to No Good by Catherine Bruns , second in the Maple Syrup Mystery series. I’m really intrigued to start the Cheese Shop Mysteries as I’m such a foodie and love culinary cozies 🧀❤️
I’m so excited for you to discover Mary Higgins Clark! Her books are dated, but it doesn’t really matter. They’re such a fast easy read… she does suspense so well, and I personally love how they always end up neatly and happily. They are like comfort food 😊
I remember reading these novels as a kid, seven years old reading murder mystery books. LOL
I love neat and happy endings too! 💙
Nosy neighbors sounds so good! Added to my tbr…ty!!
I really enjoyed dying to go!
The covers on the tea shop are beautiful!
I love the idea of secret staircases, reading rooms, libraries….I want one!!
Everyone is watching sounds really intriguing!!
Great wrap up Amy!
💖💖📚☕️😊🌈🌈
Thank you Tiffany! I think you'd LOVE Nosy Neighbors 💙
Oh my gosh Amy!! I have loved Mary Higgins Clark, for years!!! ❤❤ I think of her as my introduction into cozy mysteries (back in the 80’s 😬) I don’t think you can go wrong with any of her original books. The Christmas ones she wrote with her daughter, Carol Higgins Clark, are also great!!
That's amazing! Thank you so much for the recommendations. I can't wait to try more of her books 💙
Love all Mary Higgins Clark’s books… especially The Cradle will Fall!! Also just finished Cold to the Touch and thoroughly enjoyed it!!
So glad you enjoyed Cold to the Touch too! 💙
My grandma loved Mary Higgins Clark and shared the love of her books with me. One of my favorites is Remember Me. I used to love watching the movie they made from her books that I read.
That's amazing that she passed her love of those books down to you 😊
I have just purchased the first from The trilogy (A Midnight Puzzle being the third) based purely on your reading vlog when you read the Midnight Puzzle and you were so disappointed when you thought it may have ended, that sealed it for me. I’m excited to begin this!
Hope you enjoy it! 💙 Book two is my all-time favorite in that series! (so far)
My favorite Mary Higgins Clark book has to be Daddy’s Little Girl - read it in high school and it was my first mystery/thriller book. I just remember it being so atmospheric and New England-y and I really enjoyed it! I’ve been planning on rereading it now almost 15 years later, but I think it’ll hold up!
That sounds fantastic! Thank you for the recommendation 💙
I love your hair!! I could listen to you talk books all day haha love it!!
Oh thank you! 😊💜
I love the Tea Shop Mysteries by Laura Childs! I'm glad you are reading them. I think my favorite read of April was Kneaded To Death by Winnie Archer.
I'm so glad you loved Kneaded to Death! One of my favorites 🍞💜
I'd like to try the Tiffany Austin series. I love another TC LoTempio series so I may like that one too. Dying To Go sounds like a cozy I would like. I like another series with a former investigative reporter. I'd like to try the Tea Shop series. I haven't read any cozies set in Charleston. It sounds like a great setting. The Renaissance Soul sounds interesting. In April, I read the Literary Pub series by Sarah Fox. I love Sarah Fox's writing style. This is the third Sarah Fox I've read so far and I love them all. I also read Resort To Murder by Annie McEwen. I really enjoyed this one too.
I think you'd enjoy the Tiffany Austin series! I've really being liking it and there are two cute pets 🐱I really need to check out The Literary Pub series! That sounds amazing.
If you don’t enjoy police procedural type mysteries that seem more impersonal, you NEED to try the David Raker mystery series by Tim Weaver, the first being Chasing the Dead. His books are so intriguing and the storylines add a more personal feel. Definitely one of my favorite mystery/thriller series ❤
Ooh! Thank you so much for the recommendation. I love the idea of police procedurals, but really need that emotional aspect too 💜
I really enjoy Karin Slaughter …. Thanks for the recommendations ….
Thanks for watching Susan 😊
I felt the same way about Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone. Not my favorite. I've read the second book, so I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
I'm really curious about whether I'll like it because it sounds amazing 💜
I love the Benjamin Stevenson books, book two doesn’t change much style wise though, and I completely understand why you feel the way that you do. I was not a fan of this when I first read The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz, which is really similar style wise, but after the second one I was hooked and now there are five in the Hawthorne and Horowitz series. If you haven’t read him, try the Magpie Murders, they are great and the audio as well as screen adaptation are also amazing.
Thank you so much for the recommendation Michelle!!! 💜
Start with all the early Mary Higgins Clark. I love them al!
I'm definitely going to check more books by her out! 💙
I read about 9 or 10 of Laura Childs' Tea Shop Mysteries and loved them. Then I got side-tracked and never got back to the next book. I am hoping to pick the series back up. My two favorite reads in April were The Berlin Letter by Katherine Reay and Murder with Chocolate Tea by Karen Rose Smith.
You should definitely pick them up again! Theodosia is so fun. I can't wait to read more of her books 💜 Those reads sound amazing!
Thank you so much for reading, reviewing, and sharing about Dying to Go (Nothing to Gush About) ! 🌵🕵🏻♀️🫶
I loved it! Thank you 😊
Just finished darling girls- 5* for sure. Definitely pick up her other books if you haven’t read a lot of her. I felt the same way about everyone in my family has killed someone. I wanted to love it but it just didn’t work for me
I'm planning on it! I was so impressed with Sally Hepworth's writing. Glad to hear you like her other books 💜
I thought Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone was fun. The only downside was I knew who did it bc I’m an Agatha Christie fan and have seen her play The Mousetrap, which (spoiler) he copies for the culprit. But I still want to read his others. I just finished Everyone is Watching. I had started to outline a suspense book I wanted to write, then I heard about this book, which sounded so much like my idea. Sure enough, it was very similar 😩 so I’ll have to scrap mine or change it significantly. But I enjoyed the book very much & was curious to hear your opinion. I agree with you. I love getting suspense book recommendations from you.
Thank you so much! It's tough. There are so many books out there 😊
I loved Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone but I listened to it on audio. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I'd read the physical book. The audiobook is great. I have the second book from my library but I'm listening to the audio again as I think it works better with the writing style.
That's a great idea! Thank you 😊
Other McFadden books are better. Thank you for your recommendations! I like Sally Hepworth. I’m going to get Darling Girls. I liked Loves Music, Loves to Dance by Mary Higgins Clark. Diane Chamberlain books are sort of like Mary Higgins Clark.
Thank you for the recommendation! I hope you enjoy Darling Girls 💙
Let me call you sweetheart and all around the town are very good by Mary Higgins clark
Thank you so much for the recommendations! 💙
So agreed with you on Someone in my family…….dnf’d
Not my favorite 😊
I dnfed Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone because of the writing style. I read She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica and gave it three stars. It was fine. I did predict one thing. I also thought it was written like she had deas for two thrillers and put them in one book.
I'm glad it wasn't just me! The writing style really started to get on my nerves 😅
I've read Never Lie and The Teacher and they both seem to have a group of deployable characters. Wasn't the theme of Never Lie Tricia's Mother's saying? The only way two people can keep a secret is if one of them is dead?? Can't wait to get Nosy Neighbors! 🌷📚🌷
I think so! I hope you love Nosy Neighbors 💙
Can you read the “in the hall with a knife” mysteries out of order? Sorry! Random question I know, but availability of these is limited in Australia and I seem to only be able to purchase book three?
I wouldn't read them out of order because of all the subplots. The main murder mystery is self-contained, but the character's storylines would be pretty confusing, I think.
Couldn’t agree more with Everyone in my family has killed someone Great premise but disappointing. DNF
I was so bummed out! I totally agree. Amazing premise.
