Once again I am blessed to visit with you and share the peace of God through his love to his children. This video was very special to me when I saw the old cotton mill on the river. It brought back memories of sitting with my grandmother and listening to her. When she was a child had to work in a mill like this one. She was only nine at the time she went to work. She was pulled out of school to help her family makes the bills and buy food. Her mother had died leaving a baby boy Arthur , who also passed a month or two later since her mother's death and then they lost another child sister, Essie age nine. Times during that period of our history contain many memories or family fighting each day to exist. I dearly loved the video, all of the beautiful waterfalls and rock outcroppings. Our family would have an annual gathering at Rock Island every year for quite a few years.
But we rented one of their fabulous cabins. Very peaceful atmosphere. Very nice inside with plenty of rooms for sleeping and bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Nice porches. Loved it.

We were there over July 4th weekend. Actually, stayed in a cabin outside of Smithville and visited Rock Island State Park. Beautiful waterfalls. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. Love Winston!
My husband is from McMinnville, and we lived there several years. Great memories of my best girlfriend and me taking our boys there swimming. She and I were fortunate enough to revisit Rock Island last fall while my husband had some quality time with some of his music buddies.
I am about to tell my age,but,my uncle use to carry us kids to Rock Island before it became a state park.

We are a family of 6 adults and a 6 year old and a Boston Terrier,we have 4 tents and we car camp in our provincial parks with 2 or 3 sites. We manage well without water and electricity. We have been camping for over 40 years and prefer sites that are on or have beach access. We may get a trailer down in retirement in a couple of years but still enjoy our tent. We gave a cabin style one so you can walk around in it. We have a sitting area and potty room. We took our 3 sons camping from newborn age and as adults with family still enjoy our trips. We like treed sites and privacy too.

We loved our stay at Rock Island. We stayed in a cul de ask at the bottom of a hill. We also visited different waterfalls and went down some very slippery steps. Me being clumsy and scared of heights, my husband kinda took advantage at my expense … lol 😂 😉

You guys need to visit black water fall state Park it really nice I it dose got no water right now we had a drought west Virginia next the Davis west Virginia
We have some great state parks in Southern Middle Tennessee. You should check out Old Stone Fort. It is our favorite park close by. We live in Winchester.
Lived in McMinnville for all of my childhood til High School graduation Rock IsLand was made a State Park while I lived there in 60s thru 1975.. yes that building WAS there before..been all over and when it was first opened.. myself and girlfriends were exploring and got locked in …as teenagers we didn’t see the sign Gates locked at Sunset!!! Had to walk to a Ranger station to get him to unlock the gate..😅

Just learned an interesting fact about Rock Island, a movie called The Specialist starring Sylvester, Stallone, James Woods, and Sharon Stone was filmed there
The drive back to Twin Falls is tight for sure. I've seen small motor homes go back there. I didn't notice it but did you see the taxidermy fish display in the gift shop / office? We're gonna be at Rock Island again in October if all works out. Certainly one of our favorite parks. Glad you guys went. We're gonna be in site 5 and do some kayaking and fishing..
